Dr Keon. Are any tour players utilizing your method fully…or are they just picking parts out for use

It is always hard to work with a tour player. Those who come to the Lab are generally open-mined so they tend to embrace what I promote. But the outcome varies from one to another. It depends on their current status, ability change the movement, cognitive capability, etc....

👋🏻 @DrKwonGolf I've been following your channel with great interest for about a year or two. I'm curious to know how you feel about trainers like the Orange Whip, or clubs that you can hit like GForce Golf Clubs, or LagShot or similar soft flex clubs. Would you consider sharing some thoughts here in the comments, or perhaps even make a video explaining the benefits (if any 😅) that you see?
I've come to understand that I-like many others-easily fall into the temptation of "pulling with the body and arms" (illusion of power), instead of "throwing the clubhead", and I'm wondering if these soft flex clubs offer some of the benefits of the rope drill?

I like and use Orange Whip. O-Whip is heavier than a typical club and what I like about it is the fact that its center of mass (CM) is located close to the center of the shaft. I do not recommend heavy swing tools with the CM located too far from the handle. The flexibility of the O-Whip also allows you to find the right timing of the downswing. I personally do not use clubs with flexible shaft which are designed to hit the ball.

@@drkwongolf Thank you for sharing your insights-very appreciated.
The flexible clubs that hit balls, do offer very clear and instant feedback during a range session: any dragging of the handle, or restricted release always send the ball in a high slice. They really DO force you to slow down the body and hands (early acceleration) and promote the release of the clubhead. I'm not sure if they can promote a "bad" release pattern, though.
I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

Dr Kwon, my understanding from your various videos is that, ideally, the clubhead moves along the elbow swing-plane when the club-head is below the golfers head.
Assuming for simplicity a 3 wood where the low point and impact point coincide, the elbow swing-plane strikes the ground along the target-line for a neutral path.
I also understand that the hands move on a plane about 10 degrees steeper than the elbow plane and ideally, in this case, the hand-plane intersects the elbow-plane on a line parallel to the target-line.
This suggests to me that the low point in the hand arc, when the hands are at their lowest point and closest to the ball occurs close to impact.
I have heard a number of others express the view that the hands are at their low point when the club-shaft is parallel to the ground before impact.
Do you have a view on where the hands are at their lowest point and closest to the ball for a neutral path?

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Před dnem

The hands reach the low point substantially earlier than impact. Near MD is a good guess. Remember the hands lead the clubhead and ZC (zero cocking; when the upper lever and club aligns) occurs way after the impact between BI (impact) and MF (mid FT). You are imaging a situation where the club aligns vertically in the frontal view in front of the body.

Dr Kwon, thank you once again for responding to my queries. So at MD (shaft last parallel to ground) the hands are both at their lowest point and closest to the target-line. At impact, they are higher and further from the target-line.
For a driver there is normally little forward shaft lean at impact.
My understanding is that you consider, for a well executed swing, the hand-path plane and club-head plane are aligned (if the steeper hand plane is projected to the ground it’s lower edge would be parallel to that of the club-head plane).
I am still having a problem reconciling my understanding of the hand-path plane and the relative positions of the hands at MD and impact. Am I missing something?
