Wow, so impressed with his knowledge and ability to communicate. Not a salesperson but someone who meets the definition of a great P.H.D. Bravo !
Love this. I love that your not trying to teach golf but focusing on the fundamental movements. I've been to so many different golf pros and got myself in a complete mess!
Keep up the good work and thank you
Great video Dr. Kwon! I hope that you will continue to produce frequent videos on CZcams.
Dr. Kwon, swinging the rope the way you explain it, feels like a game-changer. Love it!
Great video Dr. Kwon! I hope that you will continue to produce videos on CZcams.
Great video Dr. Kwon. I am using this now as my pre routine. It has been very effective in a short time. Thank you.
Happy days Dr Kwon, you always cheer me up when I see one of your video's . . .
Awesome. So clear and concise. Thank-you Dr.Kwon.
Thank you Dr. Kwon! This helped my swing plane and rhythm!
wow, thanks again Doc. You have improved my game immensely !!!
Excellent Rope Swing presentation, Dr. Gwon Golf🔥 Impressive indeed!
Greetings again from South Korea! All the best! 🎵
Have a great day ahead! 👍 Happy new year 🎆
Thanks again for another great video!!
Thank you sir! I just made a rope! It's 5/8" at 7' long close to 3/4" thick. Had to find it at a marine store.
Great video! Flogging your way to better golf!
Thanks a lot. Good video for reshaping my shoulder turn.
Thank you, l am doing to buy myself a rope to rope my bad habits in golf with it and be a better golfer. This answered all the questions and fixes my getting stuck. I've seen instructors saying it's because of this and that but here l can clearly see with my own eyes why, said the rope. Thank you Dr Kwon and keep up the great job of teaching/instructing!
Very good drill, timing looks fantastic
Thank you Dr K!
Keep them coming!
great video. thank you dr.kwon
잘 봤습니다. 영상 감사합니다.
Priceless!
Great video much appreciated,
Thank you for sharing. I have problem with early extension (my hip always go in front and my left arm pull to the back). I've been practicing your drill and it helps a lot. Thank you so much!
Please send me your swing clips (frontal and down the line). I will take a look at where your excessive extension is coming from. kwon3d@kwon3d.com
@@drkwongolf That is so nice of you to offer...I can see why you've become a guru to golfers!
The rope drill is GOD. Once you master it all the random “fix this ONE THING” snippets on social media start to actually work lol tempo is king
Tempo is king!
Thanks for the detailed instruction. Very helpful.
Dr Kwon, this is excellent instruction! I am 52, played golf from age 10 - 45, then took about 6 years off. For whatever reason, when I started playing again in May of 2021, my timing was poor (not surprising), but my sequence (kinematic chain), was horrible. I have been doing anything, and everything I could to get this straightened out. My lessons over the past two months have helped a great deal, primarily with my irons, but not the driver. I have been watching the rope drill videos for the past two days, then went to West Marine here in Newport Beach this morning, bought a 7 foot section of 3/4", double-braided nylon rope, and have been working on the drill this afternoon, and evening. Hearing what a "mature transition", and seeing it is one thing. FEELING the mature transition, while doing the drill, was my eureka moment. The fact you mention keeping the shoulders closed at the start of the transition, and a deep shoulder turn, is very helpful. Lastly, the fact you say the backswing must be "forceful" is a huge help. If force precedes movement, how could we not have a forceful backswing? I really believe this is the key to getting my driver swing "synced" up properly, and delivering effortless power. I will report back in a few days.
How'd it go?
Got my rope ordered from my local chandlery!! Looking forward to practising that drill, thanks Dr Kwon!
How long?
i got mine from hercules rope! excited for it to come in
20mm thick, 2 metres length, heat sealed both ends
Great video Dr Kwon thank you, I seen one of you videos and you mentioned the hand path can you explain what you mean please?
Just an idea, might be good to see a mini compilation of students who you show this drill for the 1st time. That way we can their simple mistaked from the start and how they are doing it correctly afterwards.
Although, this guy is an awesome find👍
Thank you Dr this is fantastic, new golfer here, for me I battle with hitting my irons but it’s easy for a driver using this method I gained (15meters). am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
You talk about adding the wrist action. In what way should you execute that? Love your videos.
어제오늘강의잘들었습니다^^
네, 감사~
You mentioned this helps find swing plane. Have you found it’s similar or differs to Mike Adams arm measurement system to determine the same?
Thanks
Got my rope today!
It would be nice to see the before and after mph since speed is the ultimate indicator of swing efficiency.
Great video ! The hardest part I find is getting the swing started with a ball in sitting in front of you.
You will have to start the BS actively by pushing the ground using your lead (left) leg. This causes the body (pelvis) to shift away from the target certain extend and then start the BS turn.
@@drkwongolf great, thank you so much !
I like it better when you do the exercises (rather than others) - that way I get a clearer visual of what is needed. I thank you lots - from Australia. Oh, btw have you examined Moe Norman's swing? I would really like your insight into that.
I know what Moe Norman swing is like. It is a bit different from typical swings. ^_^
I agree, seeing him perform the exercises gives a better understanding of the tempo/speed
Dr. Kwon I really love how you explain how to use a trigger move and flow of pressure to create a body driven swing. It really reminds me of how my coach Milo Lines taught me to swing years ago. Do you get a chance to play much and has your understanding of the motion helped you to play better?
Haha, interesting! I don't play much in these days. It is a shame!
Great video, Dr Kwon. From a scientific point of view, to impress body memory, what would you suggest for a drill in terms of minutes every day or swings every day.. e.g. 100 swings a day or 10 minutes a day of these drills? Thank you.
I don't have a set guideline. What I usually do is 10-15 swings at a time. 2-3 times a day.
Used the Orang whip swing aid for years. The Rope is way better. I start each golf day with a few minutes with the rope. On my practice days I will swing the rope a few times before each tee shot.
Sounds good!
Thank you 🙏🏻 Dr.Kwon! About that last 5% wrist action. Is there a video to cover this topic?
No. Replace the rope with a club and try to repeat the back & forth motion. That is what meant by 5%.
Dr., what is your view on the efficiency of the single axis golf swing? The Moe Norman style swing?
박사님반갑습니다^^
손주환입니다^^
Thank you Dr Kwon for the knowledge. trying the rope when i got them in the mail, also doing your stage 1 , 2, 3 + X stepping drills Questions:
1. Im a right hand golf, should I keep my left arm straight during backswing motion or just let it slightly bend
2. Should I intentionally keep my head still or just let it move with the body
3. Trying to rebuild my swing using this drill, how do I ensure I can still strike the ball with good contact
Dr Kwon How long of a session do you recommend to do at a time? Just got my rope and starting to reprogram my swing. I am coming off a hernia surgery and a removal of a mass on my right hip so I feel a lot more flexible. Thank you for all the information you share with us all!!
5 min should be enough.
I feel the rhythm and ground forces and torque and so forth very well with your drills. When I try to swing a club, however, for an actual golf shot, I can't get started. I don't know how to use the body to trigger the beginning of the rhythmic motion and capture the same feelings as I get in the drills. How do I do this?
You will need to develop a strategy. More than anything get away from staring the swing from a stationary posture.
Great vids!! One question: what is the main driver/feel for body/pelvis rotation?
The legs drive the pelvis and the rest of the body. On the top of that you can add thorax, shoulder, arm, and wrist motions.
Great video! I remember a few years back when Jordan Spieth's pre-shot routine involved him swinging the club back and forth in a continuous motion. Pretty ironic that he was playing his best golf back then too!
Yep, that's what I've been doing. It helps to feel the correct sequence of what's about to happen
Hi dr, thank you so much for your videos. I have been playing for 15 yrs and learned from CZcams. I'm 55 and my back feels really stiff. I've been trying your method with my driver and I can't keep it in the same plane specially on the back swing. What do I need to do? I can't find the rope in our country but am trying to look for an alternative. Hope you can help me. Thanks
Can you record and send me your moves? It can be a good episode material. My email is kwon3d@kwon3d.com.
@@drkwongolf wil do sir. Thanks
Hallo DR Kwon!
I like the rope swing idea but find that a lot of us players are too high at impact.
What do you think about complementing with an alignment stick at the same angle as a club to get low hands and a swing from indide?
Try to touch the ground with the tip of the rope. Of course, it will wear out the rope though.
If you are still looking for ropes, try RightRope.com: rightrope.com/product/double-braid-nylon-rope/. 3/4" diameter, 7' long. Use promo code DRKWON5 for 5% discount.
Is the rope your using in this video 6.5 feet or 7 feet.?
7'.
is this drill compatible with a swing that changes plane (like a Viktor Hovland or Max Homa type)? For example, more vertical on the backswing and shallower on the downswing?
The BS can be a bit steeper than the DS in the actual swings. With a rope, however, it is difficult as you cannot manipulate the rope due to its flexibility.
Hi Dr Kwon, i’m new on you’re Channel and thank you for the Great content: i’d like to Know thé grade and the lenght of the rope (what kind) please
3/4" double braid nylon rope, 7' (2.1 m) long.
If your swing plane is not square to the target with this drill and is tilted to the left for a right handed golfer what do you adjust to get in square to the target?
Check if the hands go too high in the BS. High hand position + early opening of the chest gives a severely inward swing plane.
Greetings Dr Kwan.
Do you think the centre of the pivot is the same as the centre of the swing?
If so where is the axis.
Thanks
F
Different. The center of pivot is a stationary point around which the body rotates at a given instant. And it changes as the swing progresses. Center of rotation in Newtonian perspective is the center of mass of the body which definitely moves all the time.
Is it ok for your lead arm to fold on the transition of the backswing?
Many elite golfers flex the lead elbow to certain extent.
Dr Kwon, is it okay to stand so tall? With my club in hand i bent more over. Thanks
It depends on each golfer. I tend to stand tall.
Dr Kwon. May i ask the swing practice or movement can apply on the Iron too ?
Yes with minor changes such as smaller BS.
@@drkwongolf Thank you . 🙏
Hi Dr Kwon ,it's very similar to what Shawn Clement says isn't it ?
Honestly, I am not familiar with his teaching. Will have to find some on CZcams.
czcams.com/video/cBe7hX-Ccpo/video.html
What size rope are you using? Thanks!
3/4" double braid nylon rope (7' long)
Shouldn’t your swing plane be square to your target line with this drill?
Sure! In this video it may look like it is aligned inward because the camera is behind my body.
does the rope need to be a certain length to the height of the person. thanks
Close to your 5/6-iron.
thank you.
Akin to David Lees Gravity Golf
How long should the rope be? How much should the rope weigh?
It is double braid nylon rope, 3/4" diameter & 7' long.
@@drkwongolf I'm a pro long driver - would you recommend using a longer length rope for this - or would that defeat the purpose of the drill - seems like the most important thing is finding your own tempo?
You videos have been very helpful - especially since I have a few torn discs, I tend to get out of rhythm - your videos helped me be much better during competitions last season.
Thank you for creating this channel
I found your other video on how to make the rope:
czcams.com/video/s_4nHSu_Swg/video.html
Where do you get a rope
Like that????
RightRope.com. Search 'Kwon' on the website.
Should I buy a 6.5ft or 7ft rope? I am 5'8 or 173cm. Thank you
7ft
@@drkwongolf Thank you for your quick response. I will order it now 😁
Price of ropes have gone up 100 folds.
It appears they have shortage of supplies.
What's the specs on the rope? Thanks
Check the description section of the video.
Sorry I just saw that thanks again.
Would love to see it translate to the golf swing, seems like I get it until there is a ball to hit.
The golf ball is just in the way of the swing
in my golf swing i feel like i only taking a 3\4 turn but on video its a full swing just way i feel. How i learned to play the game with best shots
The momentum will do the rest of the work.
What is the rope length?
7' (2.1 m)
@@drkwongolf Thank You Dr. Kwon
The rope is giving me pain when it swings around and whips my body
You have to control the rope motion well: acceleration & deceleration. The goal is to nicely accelerate/decelerate the rope around the body. If you just swing the rope, it hit the body hard. Slow down the rope nicely toward the end of the BS. Move the end of the rope, not the body blindly.
thank you@@drkwongolf
I don't watch any other golf lesson channel now
That means I have to keep up and produce more videos soon?
