I have a solar ready tank (had to remove panels off the roof as new roof was being installed) and for now i have a SolarEdge Hot Water controller to heat the water with excess solar power from my PV System

Nice mate. So it’s a normal electric hot water system that you have the SolarEdge Hot Water controller diverts excess solar power? Sounds good

@Techboxreview it is a Solar hot water tank, but hooked up to a hot water controller. I will be reinstalling the flat plate collectors on my new patio roof in a few weeks

Ahhhh Yep. I know what you’re talking about. Hopefully you get many years of service from it. Hopefully I can get a good 10years use from my Heatpump water system 🤞

Somthing does not seem right on the spec sheet. 1500W max at 9.85A would be closer to 2400W. You would want it to be the only thing on the circuit if you have a 16A RCBO. I cant imagine how it would use the full power of the heatpump and also the AUX element at the same time. There must be a setting for super fast heat.

Thanks mate I will Double check that. It does have a boost mode I’m pretty sure. That may explain the 1500w max 🤔. Yes I think if it was to use both the Heatpump and the Aux it would be just under the 2400w. I may test the Boost function with my watt meter one day and see what the max draw is. Great Job spotting that 😎👍 you have a good eye for detail

I had a look at the website the data sheet on there does say it will do near 2400W. You won't want fridges and freezers on the same circuit. It would be bad to find the hot water tripped the circuit. The electronic components only have a 1 year warranty. I would probably add a surge protector 10A single socket to the powerpoint to protect the brains.@@Techboxreview

@sparkletornado5890 that’s good to know mate. There are no other heavy loads on this circuit other than led lights luckly. And I will look at getting a surge protector soon in that case, you have to read the fine print with these things hey? I appreciate your time mate for looking that up for me. Your are a Top Bloke 🤙🏻

I have a Rheem heat pump, 2010 install on its last legs. I have replaced the controls and circulation pump in the last 2 years so I am always looking at what is out there. I am probably going to replace it with a $900 3600w unit after looking at the plan to charge people for exporting solar during the day. I am building up my victron system and taking some inverter solar and putting into charge controllers and using the Multiplus charger to see how low I can get the exports between 10am and 3pm. ATM, if I am at home on my own the system can export up to 9500w or more, 5000w inverters on 2 phases. @@Techboxreview

Awesome video! Could you share the price you paid? What’s the cost before rebate for the machine and labour? Thanks mate
