    When I explain Nemesis to people, I tell them, "You know the expression that pride comes before the fall? Nemesis is the fall." Though it would be more accurate to say that hubris comes before the fall. Those guilty of hubris believe themselves to be above the laws of the universe (or nature) and the universe begs to differ.

Many of them or all of them are unjust to humans if gods abused humans like bullying, etc, are they also to be punished by Goddess Nemesis? or bias? Hope to hear from the one who uploaded the video Thank you

    • @revoraniciete9403
      @revoraniciete9403 Před 5 lety +2

      Just incase, Greek Mythology is a reality, are those humans can also pray or reverred Nemesis if another God abuse them, Is Nemesis can punish Gods who oppressed humans?

    • @vaggos013
      @vaggos013 Před 5 lety +1

      Nemesis cannot punish Gods for their actions against humans. Gods can be punished from Zeus and (sometimes) the will of the gods in their council in general, or when they do not keep their oath to the waters of Styx or when another god has problems with him/her and do something against him/her. For example when Poseidon and Apollo entered a conspiracy to put Zeus in bonds, he sent them to serve King Laomedon as punishment in mortal human forms.
      A god can be punished but usually not about his actions against humans.

    • @revoraniciete9403
      @revoraniciete9403 Před 5 lety +1

      So, basically Greek gods are really unjust if they wanna do something bad against humans they are really free to do so. There is no real justice if a Greek god would like to harass hurt, to curse all humans, no punishments for them it so fleshy, so, if a Greek mythology is reality it is a worst world to be born as a human. whew...it's difficult to live, there if that idea/system applies in their world.

    Like many other people, I would imagine, I was for a long time not aware that the word Nemesis actually came from a deity. I just knew it as a word for an eternal enemy or opponent. Or as the big zombie guy from Resident Evil. I learned pretty late of her. It is interesting that her name and the modern meaning of it are so different from each other.
    I find her way of delivering justice pretty cool. The gods tend to remove themselves mostly from the humans but she seems very close to the mortals in what she does, forming a more palpable connection.

    It would make sense if Erebus is the father of Nemesis. Her personality is consistent of a primordial god conducting necessary tasks, in this case she is maintaining the direction of human society ensuring there are consequences to your actions.

    Thank you sir for posting this video! Growing up I found a love for the immortal ones in world mythology but precious little information unless it was one of the major ones such as Zeus and his perceived lack of sexual restraint. Let us not forget the story of his cup bearer, Ganymede! The Gods switch hit as well! Anyway, I find Nemesis to be a Goddess for our time.Greed,exploration and cruelty to our fellow humans.She is definitely needed now and whose to say She is not at work now? A Griffin chariot?! Now that is truly worthy of Nemesis 's power and position. As always I learn much from your postings,thank you!

    to me i think themis and nemesis are two sides of the same coin and both want to give justice to the world but unlike themis,nemesis want to punish anyone who think too much of themselves either it god or mortal because to her eyes anyone who is committing a crime must be punished regardless who they are.i also heard that even the gods and goddess feared her for her nature

    either daughter of Zeus, Oceanus, or Erebus with Nyx (even though i suspect she's daughter of Zeus and Nyx. but Nyx is primordial, so Zeus kinda chicken out to flirt with her).
    and boy, she's the vengeful one.
    goddess of retribution?
    just keep your head down with her.

    I think Nemesis, much like the nordic god Vidar and the hebrew angel Samael represent karma, a form of instantaneous "cause and effect" justice, unlike the more organised and institutionalized justice of Themis, Forseti and Michael. They also punish two very different types of crime: the first is a behavioral crime, untouched by the law (like being arrogant) while the second is a crime that directly contradicts the established order (like murder or theft). In a way, vengeful gods prevent crime by punishing potentially criminal subjects, so I think their work is worthy of praise.

      Nymphs are spirits of nature. They were considered minor goddesses ranked below the Olympians, but they were still allowed to attend the assemblies of the gods on Mount Olympus. First there are *dryads,* nymphs of the forest who reside in trees. They are further divided into sub-categories: Oreads (mountain pine nymphs) Meliae (ash-trees), Hamadryads (oak trees), and Meliades (fruit-trees). Then there are *naiads,* nymphs who inhabit bodies of freshwater, like springs, lakes, rivers, fountains and streams. The *Nereids* are sea nymphs, daughters of Nereus, the Old Man of the Sea. There are fifty of them in total, and they often accompanied Poseidon.
