  • It’s always good to make full use of cuttings and post beheading care is equally important So when you cut the succulent from the stem ....the stem is still healthy with roots don’t remove it from the pot leave it as it protect the new cut from moisture and water let it callous over and wait for new pups to appear.
    Crown Area again must be kept away Moisture and water keep it in dry cool bright light area let it callus over ....in a week or you will notice roots .....then move them to soil but don’t water the same Day give a gap of two - three days let the roots adjust in new soil .

    Have you done a beheading for shipping. I have concerns about the phytosanitary process and exposing the plant to too much water in the dipping. Is there a best time of year to cut?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Před 8 měsíci

      no I don’t sell cuttings because there is high chance of them getting damaged ..there are many sellers and websites that do sell cutting …m surprised to see people paying so much money and they are not in the best condition mostly …every succulent I sell has a good amount of roots and they are well hydrated before sending them through post…I ensure the roots are completely dry before packing them …
      the best time to do propagation or stem or any multiplying as to be done during the growing season…I have a list in my description of the dormancy and non dormancy table ☺️…currently avoid propagating Echeveria..they are winter dormant succulents

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Před 3 lety +2

      thank you for watching ....well there is no definite time frame for them to root depends on many factors like climate ,temperatures,humidity etc.... also depends on variety of succulents some succulents will roots within two weeks and some might even take a month
      yes the crown area can be kept in shade but with bright natural light otherwise they will start to stretch .....best option is indirect sunlight or filtered sunlight with green net .....as we don’t want direct sun rays to fall on them

      @LushGardener  Před 3 lety +1

      @@jeffff18 you can start anytime time once you seen the roots now when u put them in soil it’s like planting a new succulent all over again so u will start fresh keep it in indirect sunlight for 1 week in Tht week u can start watering probably on the 4th or 5 th day… once you feel the succulent looks all good … Remember in indirect sunlight too it’s safe to keep the succulent will not stretch you can keep there long as you want …. But if u decide to put it out in the sun u can start gradually after 1 week of planting in soil ….. start the acclimation process all over and then expose to Morning direct sun 😊

      Some might root in a weeks time some might even take 3 weeks etc

    In case of a beheading a succulent which is not stretched, it won't have a stalk as shown by you which develops roots. What do you do in such a situation? Do you remove the lower leaves to expose part of the stalk? Also can turmeric powder be applied to the cut portion? This refers to a scenario wherein the lower leaves of a compact succulent have begun to rot and become mushy while the upper portion looks seemingly ok. I wonder if I am making any sense. Wish I could show you a pic!

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Před 2 lety

      Ha ha yes your absolutely making sense I know what your saying …..yes u can take off the lower leaves to expose the lower part of the stem ….and propagate the leaves ….m not quite sure about turmeric I have seen people use it ….but not quite sure turmeric definitely has anti inflammatory properties for us as humans it works well especially putting dry powder on cut and it acts like anti septic but not sure for plants I have always used cinnamon powder.
      Regarding the lower leaves turning mushy if it’s only the leaves take them off that wouldn’t be a problem as long as it not affected the stem
      Btw it’s a good co incident m making a video today on clump separation so will discuss about it in video thank you so much 😊

    My roots are pretty short but my succulent has started to grow aerial roots from 2 leaves. Can I plant my succulent now or wait for the roots to grow more by just putting it aside? I have it sitting on soil, not buried, just sitting on top. I want to know if I should change that method and put it aside by itself instead.

      I tried beheaded but never succeed. The leaves start drying out gradually while waiting for it to callous. I must wait till completely callous before I water it? In this situation?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener  Před 3 lety +1

      @@cheerfulzane ok so the cut will callus within 2-3 days maximum 4 days and the succulent will not get dehydrated as they still have water stored.....probably the beheading was not done properly ....Now when the succulent is kept too callus you have to make sure and it’s very very important that no water , no moisture must come in contact with the cut part or else the entire succulent or the entire beheaded part will rot.
      So leave it to callus in a dry cool place with indirect bright lit area ...Now regarding watering you have to wait until roots appear again this will take time depending on the climate , environment and type of succulent......don’t water when roots aren’t present because as there are no roots the succulent can’t absorb water through the stem
