Succulent information Care tips for succulents
1)SOIL- well draining ,porous,loose soil…non organic,a soil media that doesn’t retain moisture.
2)POT - smaller the pot better ideally 3-4 inches pot depth is good enough for a medium size succulent.
3)WATERING - only when the soil is bone dry however green coloured succulents like haworthia ,aloe mainTain slight Moisture but not soggy wet soil.
4)LIGHT - brightly coloured succulents provide direct morning sunlight for 5-6 hours post acclimation .Green coloured succulents like haworthia,strings of pearls or any string varieties indirect bright light.
5)Fertiliser - is not the top priority if you don’t use fertilisers it’s fine…but if you do go for liquid based fertiliser 1/2 the strength what’s mentioned on the bottle dilute in water ….and only feed the succulents that are in their growing period …never feed dormant succulents…never add too much fertiliser it will make the succulent weaker …during the growing period once a month or once in two month should be good ….wishing you all the luck

    • @LushGardener

      avoid cinder for mumbai it retains moisture....cinder is ideally used separately like its a complete different mix it can't be mixed with garden soil ...like cinder mixed with vermicompost mostly used by north part of India

      @@LushGardener another thing which I forgot to ask, I purchased a new zz plant from local nursery on 11th Aug, and hasn't been repotted since. The soil that it had come with is mostly normal garden soil (clay mix) along with cocopeat which seems to be retaining moisture , need your guidance on following points...please and thank you! :) 1. Should i report with new soil mix ? 2. what could be a most suitable mix ? 3. should cinder be included to help with drainage?

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener Před 2 dny

      best mix is gritty and well draining....garden soil ...little coco peat,sand will be best ..cocopeat you can use either 10 percent ...i use coco peat for my zz because it outdoor and its very dry here and i water it once in 2-3 weeks ..so works well ...yes i would suggest repot it ...if the soil is stay very moist ...they don't like too much soil ...you can use 60 percent garden soil ....30 percent sand and then cocopeat. another thing it also depends what i have seen is it will start to put alot of new growth after a year...they are relatively very slow growing plants studio.czcams.com/users/videovDoID8BCGic/edit

    Спасибо мой друг! Недавно завёл haworthia zebra & truncate, нижние листья становятся коричневыми из за избытка влаги. Грунт плохо просыхал и корни подгнивали. Пришлось менять грунт. Я даже не предполагал что они такие нежные.

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener Před 6 dny

      о, хорошо, вы это заметили… да, избыток влаги приведет к гниению хавортии, хотя они довольно выносливые суккуленты… да, сделайте рыхлую почву более песчаной, и к третьему дню, если это не произойдет, по крайней мере 95 процентов почвы должно быть сухим… 4-й день полностью сухой

      don't do too much watering in monsoon...even if the soil is dry wait for couple of days because during rains the moisture in air is high so wait for couple of days ..as your from kolkata the humidity is already very high ....haworthia will be the best succulents ..avoid agavoides and hybrid succulent they wont do well in your city due to high humidity....you can go with haworthia,aloes,sedums,graptoveria marpin,graptoveria purple delight,graptoveria fred ives,graptoveria franseco baldi ..these are easy

    A lot of sempervivum species are native here in Italy but they grow only on the mountains, usually over 1800m. So I had the chance to observe them in their natural environment in every condition and season. Yes they do grow un rocky soil, but adding so much sand doesn't work. You should make a pile of little stones arranged in a circle and fill it with a very little but rich soil. Alternatively you could use very little pots filled with rich soil and bury it completely in a sand or grit filled larger pot. About the temperature my one are now in the balcony at 39°C, under direct sun can be well over 50, and over and no one seems to soffer a lot, but the sunshine is limited to the morning hours, and I live at 500m on sea level. That means during the day the heat can be very strong, but nightime the temp drop drastically. Ventilation is essential, they can stand -20°C to +50°C but only with a very low humidity. What makes them soffer is very hight humidity not hight temp.

      thank you so much for the information ...its best to get information from someone who has closely observed them thanks a ton :)...yes i have seen the pictures they grow like weed lol in small puddles of little soil that's available to them ....in my city humidity is not an issue its very dry ...but the issue is short winters ..i would say very very mild winters ...the minimum is 19 c and just for about 2 months or so...i also read some articles that say they need prolonged cold winters ..hence it wont work here :(

    👌 Less is more with succulents. Also, I think a lot of health issues arise from growing inside and maybe that's part of why you're so successful? You've got good ventilation/breeze, good temperature/warmer, natural disease killing UV from the sun, good bugs eating bad bugs..etc. Just something I've noticed between my indoor and outdoor succulents. ❤ the trick of using cinnamon powder you've mentioned before! I started doing it as well and I believe it's helping my propagation plants. Thank you 😊🤙

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener Před 23 dny

      yes exactly ....the main thing is outdoors...that does the trick...90 percent of the issues are solved just by growing them outdoor and esp if the environment in your favour and i know many of people living in non tropical environment it impossible to keep them outdoor throughout the year due to frost .as you rightly said good light ..good air circulation that's it ...glad cinnamon powder is working well ..its def the best thing i came across had solved so many problems of mine lol

    Another question Frank… if the echeveria flowers are starting should we increase watering or are they still dormant? We have been having spring weather in Australia 🇦🇺

    • @LushGardener
      @LushGardener Před 25 dny

      no flowering means growing season ...as its spring you said it means they are out of dormancy ..i would say cut the flowers off..once it grows a bit and you see the stalk... it will save the energy for the succulent to grow healthy..this will also reduce the risk of mealy bug infestation
