Tokyo Drinking Alley | Painting Backgrounds for Animation | Nicker Poster Colour

- čas přidán 17. 10. 2019
- This one is not really part of an animated film, but rather one shot we created to try and capture an feeling or memory. Something which brings you back to a moment or place. Maybe the end of a night of drinking too much in a drinking alley, one of things in Japan that are so much part of the city life. Hopefully you can transport yourself there for a brief moment, or even relate...

OMG so beautiful , you are a talent !
Thanks so much!
I don't know why you only have 2.3k subscribers. With this talent, i can see one day 2.3 millions subs. Mark my words
Thanks! As long as a portion of that 2.3k enjoys our content, it's all good, but your words have been marked :)
Why why i can't give you millions of like👌👌👌
Haha, may we suggest you take a month of vacation and create a million youtube accounts?
this is stunning! amazing!
Thanks so much!
I am in awe of your confidence and skill, amazing.
Thank you very much!

Thankee!
Magnificent work!
Thank you!
I love this so muchhh 💓💓💓
Thank you so much :)
I'm Amazed you remember where you put down all the details in the original sketch when you paint them over completely with such dark intense colors, does the color end up a little bit transparent when dried up, when you add in the details or do you free hand it? It ended up really gorgeous at the end.
Thanks! The paint is a bit transparent, sometimes you just have to go over the lines with pencil again to make them more clear
Big fan of your work and have been using poster colors for a while now. Thanks for sharing your process with this medium!
Thanks so much! Anywhere we can follow your process?
@@MatteNande Nowhere just yet! I have a lot more test pages than I do finished pieces :) I'll be sure to ping/tag you guys when I start posting more work! I believe I made my first poster colors purchase after I saw your schoolyard bench demo. Loving the medium so far
@@programmerart5447 Don't hesitate to tag us! Good to hear you're enjoying this paint!
omg🤩
Thanks!
OH MY GOD!!! This is insane talent. I hope I can paint like you some day
Thanks! We're sure you can achieve this, anywhere we can follow your progress?
@@MatteNande I have an Instagram for art @thefloatingsky . Buy I'm not very good tho. I'm learning from you guys
Don't worry, we feel like we're not very good and still have heaps to learn. Just use it as motivation and realize that feeling opens you up to evolving in your art. Other artists love to see that evolution (and knowing we all struggle)!
Nice detailed background! Were you inspired by Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki? I want to try it.
Thanks so much! Yes, Ghibli is an inspiration for us. Try it & show us the result!
This is soo amazing, i was trying to learn Poster colour, and got here. This is soo good. Any tips. How can i improve myself
Thanks, Harsh! The obvious answer is by practising a lot and analyzing what you're doing right/wrong. Can we follow your progress somewhere, like on Instagram?
@@MatteNande yes sir, can you give me your Instagram? Mine is @mr_living_tombstone

Hi. I've been following your posts for a long time. I love your work and how you show the process in the videos. I have Nicker and Sakura paint, which I eventually use, to work with color poster paint. But although I usually buy a lot, especially books, on the Amazon.co.jp page, in English, I only know the hake brush. I can't locate the other brushes you use. I would be very grateful if you could put some direct links to the brushes you normally work with. If you can not for some reason of advertising would understand. Thank you very much and keep working hard.
(I haven't any social media)
Hi Roy! The problem is, we buy the brushes in art stores in Japan. Will check if the brushes are currently online somewhere! Cheers
Hello,
I like and watch your videos, they are very rich for my practice.
I have been collecting anime cel since 2004 and would like to paint some of my missing backgrounds.
Unfortunately I can not find the right paper. I used the New TMK poster color. Although this paper is very suitable the problem is that I do not find a larger format than the A4.
On this video you use a very wide paper so I would like to know where do you buy your paper?
Thank you .
And congratulations for your work.
Thank you for watching and liking our videos! We buy the big TMK in bulk in Japanese art stores when travelling, you can get bigger than A2 over there. Online it's gonna be hard to find, we talk to other people who are also looking for it =/
Thanks again!
Were there any references used for this or a mock-up/color comp you made in the same/another medium?
Not much in the way of references for the design of the street, just a few pictures. But a digital study was made to figure out the lighting and colors, as it was quite complicated. You can see it here: instagram.com/p/ByAx6VYCWS5/
@@MatteNande Holy wow! Your color study looks like a finished piece! I’m surprised you could use so few references for a piece like this. Lighting is a subject that I am continuing to study more and more, and I aspire to have the ability that you have with it. Amazing, and thank you! 🙏 I just followed you on Instagram, btw 👍🤗
@@ayaneagano6059 Thanks! Good luck and have fun with studying!
