Can't wait to see you and Canice out sailing together! The barge looks lovely with her lights.
First Mate Bertie’s little footprints in the snow. ❤
🙂🐿🌈❤️
Hello Beth, no need to apologise for not having a vlog every week, life is busy. Looking very festive there. Glad you are feeling better, take care and keep warm the two of you. Best wishes Christine x
This must be the sign of a true sailor to rigg a mast by yourself. Impressive and interesting! And don't worry about your tummy mine hangs out too. 🤫
My Friday's are not complete now without your vlogs... I always look forward to them. Can't wait to see the mast up. Thought about fitting one to my narrowboat, but not too sure it'll quite look the same!!! 🤔. Hahahaha 🤣
You might be able to get down some canals with the engine off if you had a sail, at least! Thanks for the kind words.
@@TillerQueen I may get some strange looks by people on the towpath if affixing a mast and sail, but I'll just say it is a new eco friendly narrowboat I've designed! And I'm sure it'll catch on! 🤔 Hahahaha 😂. I'll give you credit for the idea if it does! 🤣
@@Luke-zo6nc I'd love to see that! 😁
Hope you’re feeling fit and enjoying the season
What a lovely community spirit. Seems mulled wine is not the best for vocal chords 😂💚
Haha, no, I think it helps confidence but not musicality! 😁
Well done Beth your an inspiration, have a great Xmas, NY.
Hi. Just to say thanks for sharing your adventure. Love the blogs and seeing the changes happening to your barge. Have a great Christmas, and have fun. Best wishes Steve
Nice video Beth have a merry Christmas
What a nice community you have there. Glad you are feeling a better. I see how it all works now with the sheer legs etc. Rigging still to go... Be safe and careful on that. Smart not to play with the ice. Question.. how much water loss is there at the gate at low tide? LOL. Just me going off looking at squirrels. Nice job on the cables. Safe and sound and Merry Christmas if I don't get to say that before Christmas.🎄🎄🎄🍷🔥🎆
There shouldn't really be much water loss at all now, especially because it's winter so less evaporation and the lock gate has been fixed. We also have a new pump which should replenish the basin when the lock gates are operated. At a tide over around 6.7m (which is just spring tides) it comes way over the top of the gate sluice.
@@TillerQueen A pump.. Silly me... Its just wonderful to see what you see everyday. Those orange ... um... plants... were so cool with the frost.. heck...all of your shots were pretty cool looking. Thanks for all that.
Ya, I am also inquisitive abo...SQUIRREL! 🐿 Ha
@@bjumorrisdatter904 🐿 LOL
No need to apologise for your Belly exposure. You never apologised for your "Builders Bum" shots . 😂 Wish you a merry xMas and a Prosperous New Year . Greetings from Salford, (would you believe), Beth luv!
I have blurred those out when particularly bad though! 😉
I got a bit lost trying to follow the electrical cable section, but unless the dock power system is a smart charger configuration or has some sort of current limiting power supply, you don't want to plug something that draws a larger amperage into a lower amperage supply. If they're unregulated, that would just keep blowing fuses or circuit breakers on the supply side.
Hi, yes the lower rated cable will never be plugged into higher amperage. It's only when the entire system is plugged into 16 amps or lower.
Mainco Wire Ropes in Redditch will make up any rigging you need, no job too small and can do conventional splicing as well as ferrules and swages.
Thanks for the tip! I'll also need to replace my shrouds so I'll give them a call!
Hope you are feeling better, no need to apologize. Do you have some electric heaters onboard to stay warm? Like the Christmas lights , know you wanted them on the mast and hopefully that will happen. Take care Beth and Bertie. 🎄🙏😊🤗🐾 Kathy
Yes, I'm staying nice and warm with the electric heating for now, thanks!
@@TillerQueen excellent news. Take care Beth. ❤️
@@ruaidhrikathygill8833 Thanks for your care! ☺️
Hi Beth
Nice festive vlog Did you get a chance to see if you can put your coffee link on the home page.
Stay warm ✨️ 😊
Hi, yes the direct link is on the bottom of my videos although I'm working on something else too! 😊
How much do you pay for mooring and taxes, insurence and so on? if you whant to make a video when you enjoy a muled wine! Thanks! You are great, genius and amazing, you inspire People! Happy holydays! Merry Christmas
Thanks, my insurance is about £700 per year and I do pay mooring fees which amount to cheap ish rent. That gives me all the facilities etc.
It's interesting to watch your mast progress. Once you have the mast vertical the forestay and halyards will be dangling ready to be taken and secured to take the weight. At the foot of the mast, do you also have a plate to bolted through the tabernacle to back-up the pivot? If you leave the sheerlegs rigged (laying down on your foredeck). you might consider some brackets for them to rest in? Be careful and maybe you need a helper until the system is tried and tested?
We are supposed to be in mid-summer but the night temperatures are still in low single figures; what happening to our climate?
There's a large wedge at the bottom of the mast which takes the weight off the pivot pin, yes. Also the sheer legs are dismantled and stored on some stands, which I actually designed! This part of an older videos shows them off: czcams.com/video/5oPukxQ7pAU/video.html
I'll also have a number of helpers! 😊
@@TillerQueen It's good to have helpers. I meant guys rather than halyards, but I assume you spotted my error. If you are going to be using it frequently (sheerlegs) might you not use some drop-pins rather than the bolts? My drop-pins are steel pins with a swivel end that stops it from falling out and might be easier than nuts n bolts n crescent spanner?
@@josephblansjaar5871 Yes, definitely I'll need to work out the best way of doing this regularly and that's a really good idea, thanks!
ARE YOU AN ENGINEER?
Not a mechanical one, no. I'm a software engineer.
