    Wouldn't have been a bad idea to compare the '18 XLT to a '17 XLT, so that it would've been a direct comparison.

      Considering the EcoBoost can tow more, has a higher top speed, and a faster 0-60 time. Having a badge to brag about having the 5.0 V8 is only saying to everyone how much you love wasting gasoline.

    You guys put out amazing videos. I've read up on the changes with particular interest in the 2.7 & 5.0 engines, and so I pretty much knew everything you've presented, but your presentation is fantastic and thorough. Really good stuff! Like the new truck with the new tail gate and lack of chrome. I've got a STD cab, 2WD, 2015 with the 2.7. Chrome bumpers and aluminum wheels. I sort of like the front end of the '15-16's, but I really like the changes you can't see the most. Like 25 more peak Ft-lb torque coming 250 RPM lower on the 2.7, and the new, higher FE on the V8!

  • @VIccs826
    @VIccs826 Před 7 lety +1

    They moved the ecoboost badges to the tailgate? Great, I had already been using their old layout to distinguish the garbage f150s (ecoboost) from the good ones (V8s). The flex fuel badges on the tailgates were clear indicators of a 5.0, but not anymore. I'll have to read the badges from a close distance (if I'm nosy enough and really want to know).

  • @gtafan1100
    @gtafan1100 Před 7 lety +7

  • @gop4usa12
    @gop4usa12 Před 7 lety +12

    You'd have to be damned fool to want a diesel powered F150. The extra maintenance, clutter under the hood, and hassles that come with the exhaust cleaner aren't worth the little bit of fuel savings. The 2.7 L Ecoboost already gives you mph in the 20s. And if it's power you need, go with a Super Duty.

    • @djayt1215
      @djayt1215 Před 7 lety

      Maintenance evens out usually. while scheduled maintenance may be cheaper for gas, you usually have to take it more often, and include the price of tuneups. Most diesels can easily go 10,000 or more between service.

    • @gop4usa12
      @gop4usa12 Před 7 lety

      D Jay T While it is true the cost of preventative maintenance evens out as you say, the cost of repairs to a diesel engine is enormous. But it just depends on how you use it that matters. And my point is if what you need to do with your F150 requires a diesel engine, you should just opt for a Superduty.

    • @tommytruth7595
      @tommytruth7595 Před 7 lety +1

    when are the domestic trucks going to offer headlight adjustment from inside the cab? Toyota has been doing this with the The tundra since the real full size one came out in 07 and Nissan has it in the new Titan. great feature to have when towing or hauling so you aren't blinding oncoming traffic and having everyone high beaming you because they think you have your high beams on. Also keeps more light on the road.

    I believe you might be mistaken. From my understanding the F150 CAN tow more than the Silverado 1500. 2018 Silverado 1500 is rated to tow in the 12,000 pound range, while the 2018 F150 is rated to tow at 13,200 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. So the Ford can tow more than the Chevy, not vice versa.

    Nice review. I recently purchased a 2017 Platinum 701A and with other options. I am not sure that some of the features shared are specific to 2018 models. My 2017 does not have a shark fin on the roof but it does have Sync Connect--ahhh figured out the difference. The 2017 does not have the service option. You have to use your own hot spot but it will do the rest. The 2017 manual says I have a 5-year service to communicate with Ford Pass only. I noted differences in my personal search - the pedestrian warning added to the detection and the new look for the front and rear taillights only (Platinum) and leather colors - Marsala versus Brunello. Here's my rundown on the changes:
    Frame -
    Redesign on rear midrails and axle tubes/shafts
    Increase of 1,000# in towing capacity
    Engines - (no change if 3.5L engine selection)
    3.3L V6 - ------------------2018
    2.7L Ecoboost 2nd Gen--2018
    5.0L Improved-----------2018

    you said the diesal is only on higher trims, and it is expensive; would King Ranch fall under the Higher end trims you are talking about? and HOW expensive do you think they are talking? I mean the King Ranch (as i would have it equipped is a hair under $60k)

    The 18 looks better. The grill isn't so big and stupid looking. The running gears are always good in a Ford.

    ASK MITCHELL!:
    What if scenario:
    2018 F150 XLT 5.0 with 10 Speed transmission
    Add: Southern Comfort package
    Does Ford rate the new 10 speed capable of handling the addition of either an FRPP or Roush Supercharger?

      Josh Lambert they have the same 10 speed in the camaro zl1 which is rated at 650 hp so im sure there wouldnt be a problem with added that to a 5.0 but thats just my 2 cents
