Everyone bitching about the Ecoboost, you seriously need to go drive one. These engines put out an absolutely absurd amount of power and torque, the are so damn fast. With a tune people are running mid 12s in 4x4 Crew Cab F150 with the 3.5L Ecoboost.
Yes very impressive until it grenades and especially if its tuned. This is why I wouldn't buy a used ecoboost or even a used truck for that matter.
See heres the deal....I see past all that. (Just like a lot more people are finally starting to do) Looks like someone is still drinking the Kool Aid. Which is just what Furd wants.
Imagine for a second if they took that considerable amount of R&D and put it into making their V8 more efficient and more powerful. Yep, it'd be pretty darn sweet. Instead they took a misguided means to an end. The EcoBust gets them to the required EPA numbers....
See here is the thing, I actually work on these trucks (and other trucks) for a living. There is honestly nothing wrong with the Ecoboost. They hold up very well even in the long term. The only people who complain are those online who have never touched it.
Buddy was a 2012 ecoboost, has 120,000km's on it, tuned since 2 weeks old, still runs low 13's and no issues at all
dude, all vehicles should have a turbo, anyone that has ever driven at elevation or through mountains knows how amazing a turbo feels. I dont care if its gas or diesel, it just has to have one. The 5.3 and 5.7 sound good, but they are anemic at elevation.
Can't wait until they are 20 years old so i can afford one
Here in the future (2024) and paying just over 16k.
A very well produced and presented video.. Lots of info and detailed explanations triggered by the right questions...
Well done guys and good rescue after the technical glitch.... :) Keep up the good work it was a pleasure to view today...
Great video guys. Your not afraid to ask some possibly uncomfortable questions either. Kudos.
Great video guys!! I really liked this Ford rep as well.
Hey great video quality for mobile live stream! (and a great video about the trucks as always)
Very excited. Still driving my old 7.3 but excited to see the new capabilities!
Great Video. Just leased a 2017 F150 Limited. Love it beyond all the BMW X5 Ms I've owned. The one issue I have with this truck is, WiFi Hotspot not available in the 2017. Question is, can I purchase it as an add on?
I'd like to know what what the tow capabilities are for 4x4 super cab, or crew cab with either the 2.7 liter engine or the 5.0 V8.
I do like how they acknowledge there are people that still like the V8
I'm one of them
I think the V8 could be more efficient with that ten speed transmission
Maybe that could prolong its life a little more
I get 19.5mpg with the 5.0 and 10 speed.
I see Roman has got new audio gear going for the challenging streaming videos. Nice!
Interested in learning about your live stream gear. Willing to share your equipment list?
Is the gear shift on the red truck on the steering column and on the console in the white truck
They fix the exploding rear glass issue?
Any word on the new Eco driving mode and its improvement on fuel economy?
Any chance they bring back the 6.2L engine for the F150s or make the High output 3.5L V6 available for other trucks besides the Raptor?
No. Blame it on CAFE.
Can't wait to get mine in December
Great informational video. The guy with the orange shirt is such a good talker that he should be a politician.
I am very pleased with all the information presented in this video.
Suggestion:
Prices should be more clear and explanatory for every trim.
Thanks
Alonso
I feel like this guy had cue cards off screen that said "CAPABILITY/CUSTOMERS"
He's a marketing guy - that's what they do.
Very cool!!
The Ford spokesman was a T-Rex in a previous life.
Lol yeah the one that got his ass kicked by all the others.
Typical marketing guy. 'Customers - customers' but doesn't give you one technical detail. Next time stay away from useless marketing people and find an engineer.
piaoliang rekt
Ouch...
piaoliang I agree. All his "customer" talk was annoying. It's not like people don't know about this truck. It's like they believe if they say "We listen to our customers", someone would say, "Hey, they listen to you. Let's buy an F-150!" 🙂
Randall Collins in all fairness to this guy you would likely hear the same sh1t from a Ram or GM marketing guy.
Engineers don't sell they are the ones that give you the story behind the specs.
I would love to see a shop rebuild that transmission ha! They must only plan to replace
What are the "small tweaks" that were done to the 18 3.5L Ecoboost?
New plastic covers. Dude...marketing BS, Noting meaningful.
5.0 Coyote is still most reliable.... Plenty of power as well.
Source for your reliability claim?
@@tedschmitt178 eco boost limp mode
@@tedschmitt178 google eco boost issues and you will find lots of info. 5.0 coyote issues will be few and normal thing, much less then the eco boost.
I have owned a F150 with 3.5 ecoboost and one with the 5.0. The 5.0 is absolutely the most reliable in my opinion. Not even close. However the power with the 3.5 is amazing.
Ford always gets the mid model facelifts spot on! Really pretth rig.
The new look of the front end looks a lot better in my opinion
Are they ever going to address the lack of a catch can on a turbo engine issue?
Since they listen to costumers why there's no HO v8 on raptor just asking most raptor owners are about smiles per gallon?
Fred Martinez ..I agree . Did like that they have a supercharged 5.0 in the roush f150 now . I'd go that way over the raptor just to get the 5.0
I think it's CAFE and cost
Fred Martinez the EcoBoost engine can be tuned and can make more power. I guess that's why it is a 3.5 rather than a 5.0
But wait a minute they offer simulated engine noise in the raptor. Wouldn't that make you want it more? I mean who really wants to hear the sound of a nice v8 with Magnaflows when your $60k+ truck could sound like the kid's suped up Honda next to you at the stop light.
Wesley Jackson the raptor is an off road, sand dune jumping vehicle where 95% of drivers will never even have it off asphalt and 4.9% will never hop a hill with it. The fake cabin noise is the least of the stupidity there.
just uploaded a video on my channel of a magma red 2018 f150 on my channel. that colors badass and the new front end is a major improvement in my opinion.
Why Doesn't Ford offer more color options on the F250 and higher Trucks
Don Hanson Heavy duty is all business. No frills and unnecessary things. If anything, aftermarket is your best bet.
They offer pretty much every color they offer on the F150 on the SD.
Bros... Where can I get one of them F150 polos??
Did not add port injection to the 2.7?
How many fuckin times can someone say "capable" Jesus absolute Christ
I've noticed the painted bumpers the paint comes off and the bumpers rust in time
What trims will the diesel be in?
+simjet22 This was not yet disclosed.

13,000 lbs Towing Capacity / 385 HP / 430 lb.-ft. / 6 Speed
2017 F-250 Super Duty 4x2 Boss 6.2L V8 NA 4.30

Should have told him to put that ecoboost technology behind the 5.0 and call it the "5.0 Testosterone Output Ecoboost V8"
wouldnt b ecoboost it would just b called boost
Rocky Rockwell Egoboost!
If they did that all the v8 fanboys reciting their insecure daddy's small displacement hatred would have nothing to whine about.
Blame that on the EPA.
The marketing guy would be the fastest pizza dough maker now: look at his hands concert.
This guy sure loves his customers.
What sucks is ford has nice cargo accessories for the f150 but not available for the super duties. They show a cargo dividers to separate cargo in the bed but it's not available for super duty. Why?
More gears or CVT in trucks next?
CVT can't handle high torque loads.
benjaminwayneb Allison makes one for large trucks, sure they can come up with one for these light duty trucks.
The original "high boy"
That city mpg claim for the 3.5 eco is really absurd. In the suburbs kicking it around with minimal foot I get 14-15 in 2WD. Also, owned the 6 speed and now the 10 and there is no real world difference in mpg "city" or suburbs. You can always find a gear for low rpm on the highway, so you see maybe 1 mpg gain there. Their advertised numbers are truly based on absurd, sterile, unrealistic scenarios.
So I’m going to Colorado Springs this weekend do you know any sources that have off road trails??
+the_guy942 check traildamage.com for trail information.
would you wait for a 2018 with the 10 spd or go for a 2017 with the incentives and discounts?
R Dixon--I'm going to get a 17 with the discounts. Around Feb-March 2018, the 17's will be around $15k off MSRP.
TheToddfcoleman I got a '17 F-150 with 5.0 V8 a few months ago. The price was about $60K but the rebates and discounts took it to $49K
American Track Master-- that's pretty darn good. What trim level? I've been eying the XLT's.
TheToddfcoleman it's an XLT. Fully loaded except for the twin panel sunroof
TheToddfcoleman I would think they would all be sold by then. Right now my dealer has used trucks with 30k on them 2014-16 and they are not any cheaper than buying anew one
A 24 minute video and barely showed the trucks. When the Lightning and Tremor were mentioned would have been a nice time to bring up the Roush and the Nitemare conversions. Unless you're a real Ford guy, these are pretty much a secret.
3.5 eco is an incredible engine, more power than any V8 i have driven....
LOL you haven't driven the right V8.
smithbroblues I rented a ford with a 3.5 eco boost it sucked the gas like there was no tomorrow. 5 ltr is better, and the gm 5.3 is even better to drive long distances.
Angelo 123 exactly
I guess you never drove a hemi the ecojunk is a turd.
The 3.5 will drag a Hemi Dodge all day long
I'd settle for a new two door 427 though. That'd work too.
They aren't listening on the lightning. We've been asking for years!
No diesel :( , sorry didn't watch all the way through Spring 2018! I can wait! This is good news!
Well done Ford!
I like how he kind of avoided the toolbox question.
Evan Warren He didn't avoid the question. He never claimed Chevy faked the add. All he said was Ford used aluminum.
The irrelevant toolbox question. Relevant to an idiot who knocks a 50 pound toolbox into a work truck with an unlined bed. Meanwhile those Mexico manufactured GM driveshafts still shake away at highway speed. Everyone with half a brain knows Ford is a decade ahead of GM.
Ford is the Tesla of pickup trucks. All the other manufacturers are just background noise to their specialty.
I would love to have that Trans cuttout in my house. lol
Why doesn't Ford offer stock goose neck and fifth wheel hitches in the f150
They have smaller fifth wheel trailers too.
Robert Wise it's not common, but many do it.
I think Todd has too much caffeine in his system!
iam not going to lie to you , but ive been a GM guy all my life, but wow these trucks are sharp, and to be honest im driving a 2013 silverado its nice, but im thinkin of buying one of these fx4's wow oh hell yes. lol.
Is that transmission really developed and made by Ford?
jldude84 so it's not from that German company ZF Friedrichshafen but rather LMC Automotive. Is that a British company?
bring back the ranger
They are in 2020 dummy
hope they are still trucks when they bring em bacck not soccermom suv truck
can you put shit in the back, and tow shit with it? then its a truck.
and what about the 3.0 Powerstroke
Thats a professional salesman.
I would not buy anything from him.
V8 is the only motor what belongs in a truck the rest is just a bunch of wires and computers.
That v6 is probably as strong and much more efficient than the 5.4l Triton ford used to offer in the 97-2003 f150z
I haven't liked the F-150 front end since 1979, until today.
TrebuShade IMO I liked the 2015-2017 and nothing since then as well
TrebuShade lol- well it seems a whole lot of folks have liked them quite a bit since then.
Crew cab 8' bed F150 ?
No, SuperCrew has a 5.5 or 6.5 bed. You can get the 8 bed on a Regular or SuperCab.
NYS Parkway rules, no trailers and passenger plates only. 1500s only to stay under the max 6000lbs up from past years of 5500. 2500/250 crew long beds to heavy at 7000lbs +. Would like the room for riders, bikes and gear.
Register a pick-up truck as 'passenger' class vehicle Can I register my pick-up truck as a 'passenger' class vehicle?Yes. Your pick-up truck can qualify for passenger class plates if it meets certain conditions, depending on its unladen weight. If you have a modified or unmodified pick-up truck with an unladen weight less than 6,001 lbs., then you may register it in the passenger class if it meets the following conditions:the pick-up truck does not have any business advertisements, andthe pick-up is used exclusively for non-commercial purposes
Bronco? When will it come back?
+Ryan Vernon no new info on the Ranger or the Bronco. Bronco should be a 2020. Ranger a 2019.
IMHO I wouldn't have any of the Eco Boost V6 engines only the 5.0 V8 engine,
which is the most reliable engine they make.
That old-school thinking needs to go. This is no longer the 1980s.
Nice trucks but I don't understand why Ford has gone crazy with the crew cabs. What about all the tradesman out there that need a longer bed. The little short beds in crew cabs are just about worthless for hauling anything.
Lmao! Very glad you listen to your customers. Ford please stop teasing us and bring out a Damm lightning! It's been way too long (14 yrs). I'd LOVE to see a supercharged 6.2 boss for a lightning engine. Roush can have the 5.0. We need a low slung two door handsome svt badged bad ass chevy and dodge murderer! Thanks please!?!?
Whatever happened to the Harley-Davidson edition? Ford please bring it back
That V8 is amazing.
I agree nice engine ford should stick with that one.
Where's Nathan?
They make that grille bar much longer and the F150 is going to look like a Silverado...sheesh
like the silverado used to look, Chevy changed their beautiful front end to appeal to the Bros.
This guy's voice was similar to nails on a chalk board.
base f150 is 27 grand with a v6. I bought my 2005 z71 ext cab Silverado for the same price new! Trucks are just to dang expensive now!
MBailey1977 it's about 23k after discounts. Output is about the same as your v8 but 19 city 24 highway where you're getting 13-14.
Welp... they officially killed it..
The Silverado tool box commercial was rigged. They had 65 cuts in 30 seconds.
Ford is just AWESOME!!!
Just go with a V8. Fuel efficiency with the V6 is very minimal in real world driving. Just a bunch of marketing techniques.
Towing with the 3.5 EcoBoost is superior.
What a great great attitude towards the derpy pretentious competition methods from Chevy. Just the name itself is derpy af; 'shevi'
They can't make a lightning because the only engine they have is the Shelby and they won't put it in anything else
When they come out with the ecoboost twin turbo 5.0????
+ega0117 we asked about it. Ford would not comment.
TFLnow I don't think they'd do it. Imagine the power that would get just from Ford bolting two turbos onto its existing 5.0 V8.... then suddenly why do you need the Super Duty
American Track Master but that's all the reason why they should do it. Everyone will be buying vehicles with the Ecoboost 5.0. Image 1000hp
ega0117 well I'm not quite sure about 1000hp. Maybe about 500 ish and mid 500 torque is reasonable. But the problem with calling the 5 liter an "EcoBoost" is that the engine is still the same in displacement. Maybe they come out with a 4 liter EcoBoost V8
why the 5 liter can't be more powerful?
Lol ford reliability my foot. This guy is a great sales guy.
That guy talked for nearly 30 minutes and didn't say one thing that we didn't already know....geez!
Gordon Willoughby . That's marketing, speak for 30 minutes, but say nothing.
I can't believe they didn't talk about the dual injection. Speaking as a mechanical engineer, the fact that ford has gone to dual injection to avoid the carbon build up and issues on valves as well as boost performance; that is the main reason to get these 2018s over an older aluminum bodied model. Not because I can now pick an additional 6 wheel choices. The F150 line really seems to be getting too bloated with options. And too expensive. I also can't believe that anyone actually likes those tacky tailgates on the high end models like the Platinum or King Ranch. Even if I had money burning a hole in my pocket, those tailgates are reason enough to stick with an XLT trim. I also want to say that all the people crying for a Lightening model... what do you need it for?! Throw that 3.5 eco on a regular cab XLT Sport and pick the shortest axle ratio, get a tune running premium gas and I am pretty sure it won't leave you wanting for speed.
Gregor Babic high end is tacky and overpriced, low end is ghetto and cheap. Everyone has an opinion and everyone likes to spend money on one thing or another.
If this freaking guy says customer one more time I'm going to reach through my phone
Customers? Customers! Customers?!?! Yes Customers!!!
If I hear core one more time... Not everything can be a core value or feature. The marketing wank is strong with him.
AND 200 000 POUNDS TOWING
Can you turn off pedestrian detection in the event their protesters, or can it detect and variate protesters? I don't want my truck to stop for protesters.
Navy blue interior for limiteds ehhh... not that it matters i'll never sit in one.
The front looks so much better
any car or truck that has to pump fake engine sounds into the cab is telling you that you should have had a V8. lol
Sure looks better now. ....and the V8 would be my choice, of course.
Let me say one thing Eco boost rocks 355000 miles and only regular maintenance suck on that V 8 lovers
$60,000+ for a 1/2 ton truck is ludicrous and the buying public should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this insanity. It's time to start building quality for the working man at an affordable price. These trucks are $30-$40k trucks all day long and we're being wooed with fancy electronic gizmos that won't be worth a damn in a few years.
Yet they didn't touch that ugly ass dash. One of the biggest reasons why I went with a GMC over a Ford. GM trucks lack a lot of the features that Ford has, but they look so much better.
Most of the features ford has are for people who need help driving. In other word Ford drivers.
Their customers are the most important? Then why do they shove a v6 and turbos and tiny engines in all of their vehicles then?
...so when Ford adds the ten speed to the 6.7 diesel..them may as well just make the Ford AeroMax again..
Cesar Palmos I doubt the ten speed could handle all that torque
Probably not..but who knows, maybe in the not to distant future..the f750 can tow 37,000 pounds, but thats a six speed with only 725 pounds of torque from the de-tuned 6.7 diesel used in the SD
Why do manufacturers refer to their vehicles as if they're people? "F150" instead of "the F150" and I've noticed Toyota does this too with their Tundra. Really bothers me for some reason.
