Half way through high school we got this new kid. He was albino, nobody would talk to him, he was always wandering alone when not in class. One day it got me thinking and I decided to go talk to him. We became friends, soon after that I would tell him to come hang out with my other friends. All the bunch of us became pretty close. When we finished high school and we all took different paths he told me how much he appreciated me coming to talk to him that time, he confessed he was being miserable and how that allowed him to make a bunch of pals and how we all changed his life. Man, I'll never forget the feeling, got me all teary eyed. Be kind to people, you never know how much even a simple gesture could mean to them... and you.

I'm much MUCH older than you all here so.....back in 7th grade, a similar situation with me....his name was James and he was such a cool dude....I offered the teacher that I would be his tour guide and we hit it off.......sadly he passed away due to the war.....but his memory will always be with me.

A lot of the girls telling him that he's not ugly, would not date them if they had better options. And it is cruel to tell someone he's attractive, while his entire life has been the opposite. The man isn't a 2/10, nor a 3/10. But based on average, he's below a 6/10. He has sight issues and plenty of issues because he's Albino. It wasn't easy being him and I understand completely. I'm a man who can be a 7,5/10 if I work out and dress well, but I don't. And I accept going through life as a 5/10 right now as it allows me to meet people who genuinely see me for who I am. But the reality with girls is that most girls treat me (right now) as if I'm a second choice, and they are still looking for the right guy. While... when I still cared for my looks, girls came to me.

I feel like some of the comments didn't fully grasp the context you clearly expressed. They keep focusing on your looks, as if you need validation from them, maybe i heard this video wrong, i listened to it twice, but, i got the impression this is something you've overcome a long time back, you feel no insecurity from looks and have grown an acceptance. Because you've accepted it, it allows you to see the bs that others allow to rule over them. I relate a lot to this, i had my own personal experiences when i was a kid that brought unique challenges as i grew up. One thing you do learn as you expressed was that insight into people that many people won't be aware too.

I use to hate being ugly but i no longer care i tried to look good and simply cant so i just stop trying and it is what it is. The word ugly fugly, grotesque doesn't even have meaning to me anymore because of how many times people have called me it.

If you are short, smart, not a sportsball superstar, in any combination, you get pushed out further. That distance let's you see all the nonsense and how phony people are more clearly. Pity of it is there isn't a lot of help at those school ages, and most of what is there only makes matters worse.

I completely agree. Ugliness is someones personality, the lack of virtue they possess and the poor thoughts they create. That is ugliness. Everyone has a different perception of what is attractive, unattractive etc that is what is unique and special. I know this video is old, but bro, if we had known each other in high school or college I think we would have been friends. My right leg was amputated when I was a baby, and I was also always on the outside of the group. Had to grow up and grow that thick skin really fast. But it's fine man. Gave me that different perspective and gave me a good intuition to figure out which people are worth your time. I love meeting people with that same outsider perspective because they're always the most interesting people. The group is obsessed with fitting in which makes them fucking BORING.

So I went home and looked in the mirror and started to cry because he was right! So that got stuck in my brain and have had body dysmorphia all my life and I'm 76! When I was a kid, being ugly was torture, I felt completely alone, cause no one wanted to associate with Quasimodo, ya know? The lack of interaction caused me to withdraw into my shell and toss out my social skills. Over the years I’ve grown to accept that to society, I’m objectively ugly. It’s actually opened up a lot of good things for me, from realizing people are mostly superficial and genuine mofos are a rarity, to looking at myself in the mirror and realizing “hey, I think I look good !” to focusing on the function of my body instead of the form. Long story short, being ugly is ok and actually beneficial to me

Being ugly is subjective. I think like you, I know that western society doesnt like certain things about my face like my eye bags, weak jaw, scleral show etc. But I like it the way it is and I think that I look okay. Especially since all this "ugly" features are usually linked to underlying health issues (which is the reason why they are considered unattractive) but I know that I have non of them.
I had the opposite problem but equally unpleasant. I looked like the Leonardo Dicaprio type (as a kid!) girls fancied me but boys seemed to hate me for it, even my own sibblings. I took many beatings and a lot of abuse for being baby faced handsome. I ended up doing boxing and going bald so that solved my problem 😂
But that is the problem, that society judges different people and doesn't give them equal treatment and perception. So then you feel left out, bad, sad... Because people don't accept you. You know what? As I listened to your video, I felt like you were exhibiting true masculinity and attractiveness. Almost as if, going through this hard life lesson led you to glow up and actually become beautiful. It truly feels like you've been through hell and you've gained a lot of strength and wisdom from your hardships. Now it shows, and even though you're not beautiful according to society standards, I believe a lot of people will agree that you are beautiful and will find you attractive. I personally hate people who base their whole sense of self on their body. Hate is a big word but I just dislike interacting with these kind of person. When you keep identifying yourself with your body, you live on the surface and your personality is very shallow. The soul can't come out, if all people do is get trapped thinking they are their body. Our body is just a vehicule, we are much more than that. When you go beyond your body by accepting how it is( right now and not in the past or in the future), you actually transcend it and allow yourself to show the world all of your beauty. It's not the common discussion about "beautiful on the outside, ugly on the inside". It's much more than that. Our body can either be a cage or be the key to our salvation and freedom. Being called ugly in high school was very damaging to my confidence. Now people say I'm beautiful, I'm 31 now. I try to be indifferent to the name calling or complements. I don't want people to like me for the way I look. When I think of the people I love the most, I never think about their looks. I just love their faces. Because how these people make me feel. That's what's important to me.

What the OP probably wanted to point out is that people are easy to say something good about someone when they don't feel the pressure that what they see will not have an effect on them. In that case for example, the girl will make the complement just to do it, regardless if it means something or not. They "date me then" is used as a direct replay and effect of the previous statement (complement in that case). But like pointed out, the girl just wanted to say something, just to say it and not to create something meaningful. This happens all the time in society and the OP just wanted to point out that people say things that don't mean anything all the time. You even said yourself that you may find a lot of people "not ugly" but you wouldn't date them. Hence, no reason to call the beautiful or make a complement because, if you didn't want to date them, the complement is totally useless.
What I’ve noticed is that ugly people become extremely self aware, and they learn to read people. Maybe it’s the isolation or the fact that they don’t have a big social life, love interests, friendships etc that they develop an extra sense. Most ugly people are smart and logical, they make choices based on logic and not emotion because they know that if they make a wrong move, they will pay the price and no one will come to the rescue
For sure, and def even more so for beautiful woman than men. That's why a lot of(not all) good looking women don't have many skills, hobbies, interests, or much of a personality.....and just focus on their looks and having fun.
Not really sure what these traits have to do with ugly people but grinding poker definitely helped my people intuition... or vice versa, my interactions with people of all walks of life helped my poker.

Wow. This touched me. I was teased when I was young. I would come home crying from school. Now that my skin has cleared up, people treat me completely different, but I remember, and I will always remember... not due to vengeance, but to remain humble in myself, and not give love superficially
I've been one of those people who some think is pretty, and others think is ugly. But when I was growing up, I was mostly treated as ugly. (even my parents treated me that way) It used to hurt me a lot because I wanted to feel like those pretty girls. I wanted to feel beautiful. But as I grew into adulthood, I realized how much trouble I was spared. Those popular girls and guys had so many backstabbing, two-faced friends who were secretly jealous of them. A lot of them ended up getting pregnant early, like right out of high school or before they even graduated. Some were pressured into doing dangerous things in order to stay popular with their friends, and some of them died because of it. Some of them even committed suicide. I was able to see later on how much of a headache it would have been to be one of them. Even though I was deemed ugly, it took the pressure off me to try to be like them because I knew I couldn't. It was lonely, but at the same time....peaceful.

It is to me. I didn’t have things easier so had to be more useful. Now later on in life, I am more ahead than my beautiful counterparts - whom to be honest are now just average. I secretly smile on the inside at their misfortune / although I shouldn’t LOL!!!
I can see that being ugly has a lot of advantages. I am good looking, men think I’m in my 30’s but i’m actually a lot older. They never believe when I say I’m over 50, turning 54 next month (October). Being good looking brings on a lot of insecurities, anxiety and depression, I have had it all but getting better as I age, more wiser in all I do. The good looking people notice one small mole appearing on their face/skin and it drives them insecure and how to get rid of that mole/spot. I do it to myself many times. The ugly person would never imagine it as they are the ones who seem at peace, confident and happy in life. They are a blessing for people like me, I can see past the ugly and how beautiful they really are ♥️

Half way through high school we got this new kid. He was albino, nobody would talk to him, he was always wandering alone when not in class. One day it got me thinking and I decided to go talk to him. We became friends, soon after that I would tell him to come hang out with my other friends. All the bunch of us became pretty close. When we finished high school and we all took different paths he told me how much he appreciated me coming to talk to him that time, he confessed he was being miserable and how that allowed him to make a bunch of pals and how we all changed his life. Man, I'll never forget the feeling, got me all teary eyed. Be kind to people, you never know how much even a simple gesture could mean to them... and you.

A lot of the girls telling him that he's not ugly, would not date them if they had better options. And it is cruel to tell someone he's attractive, while his entire life has been the opposite. The man isn't a 2/10, nor a 3/10. But based on average, he's below a 6/10. He has sight issues and plenty of issues because he's Albino. It wasn't easy being him and I understand completely.
I'm a man who can be a 7,5/10 if I work out and dress well, but I don't. And I accept going through life as a 5/10 right now as it allows me to meet people who genuinely see me for who I am. I feel like some of the comments didn't fully grasp the context you clearly expressed. They keep focusing on your looks, as if you need validation from them, maybe i heard this video wrong, i listened to it twice, but, i got the impression this is something you've overcome a long time back, you feel no insecurity from looks and have grown an acceptance. Because you've accepted it, it allows you to see the bs that others allow to rule over them. I relate a lot to this, i had my own personal experiences when i was a kid that brought unique challenges as i grew up. One thing you do learn as you expressed was that insight into people that many people won't be aware too.

I know this video is old, but bro, if we had known each other in high school or college I think we would have been friends. My right leg was amputated when I was a baby, and I was also always on the outside of the group. Had to grow up and grow that thick skin really fast. But it's fine man. When I was a kid, being ugly was torture, I felt completely alone, cause no one wanted to associate with Quasimodo, ya know? The lack of interaction caused me to withdraw into my shell and toss out my social skills. Over the years I’ve grown to accept that to society, I’m objectively ugly. It’s actually opened up a lot of good things for me, from realizing people are mostly superficial and genuine mofos are a rarity, to looking at myself in the mirror and realizing “hey, I think I look good !” to focusing on the function of my body instead of the form. Long story short, being ugly is ok and actually beneficial to me

I think like you, I know that western society doesnt like certain things about my face like my eye bags, weak jaw, scleral show etc.
But I like it the way it is and I think that I look okay. Especially since all this "ugly" features are usually linked to underlying health issues (which is the reason why they are considered unattractive) but I know that I have non of them.
I had the opposite problem but equally unpleasant. I looked like the Leonardo Dicaprio type (as a kid!) girls fancied me but boys seemed to hate me for it, even my own sibblings. I took many beatings and a lot of abuse for being baby faced handsome. I ended up doing boxing and going bald so that solved my problem 😂

You know what? As I listened to your video, I felt like you were exhibiting true masculinity and attractiveness. Almost as if, going through this hard life lesson led you to glow up and actually become beautiful.
It truly feels like you've been through hell and you've gained a lot of strength and wisdom from your hardships. Now it shows, and even though you're not beautiful according to society standards, I believe a lot of people will agree that you are beautiful and will find you attractive.
I personally hate people who base their whole sense of self on their body. Hate is a big word but I just dislike interacting with these kind of person. When you keep identifying yourself with your body, you live on the surface and your personality is very shallow. The soul can't come out, if all people do is get trapped thinking they are their body.
Our body is just a vehicule, we are much more than that. When you go beyond your body by accepting how it is( right now and not in the past or in the future), you actually transcend it and allow yourself to show the world all of your beauty.
It's not the common discussion about "beautiful on the outside, ugly on the inside". It's much more than that. Our body can either be a cage or be the key to our salvation and freedom.
You're clearly showing us the latter. Props on you for seeing the lessons instead of becoming bitter and angrier over time. 👍

Being called ugly in high school was very damaging to my confidence. Now people say I'm beautiful, I'm 31 now. I try to be indifferent to the name calling or complements. I don't want people to like me for the way I look. When I think of the people I love the most, I never think about their looks. I just love their faces. Because how these people make me feel. That's what's important to me.

@@1commonplace519 I agree. Nobody owns anyone anything. What the OP probably wanted to point out is that people are easy to say something good about someone when they don't feel the pressure that what they see will not have an effect on them.
In that case for example, the girl will make the complement just to do it, regardless if it means something or not. They "date me then" is used as a direct replay and effect of the previous statement (complement in that case). But like pointed out, the girl just wanted to say something, just to say it and not to create something meaningful.
This happens all the time in society and the OP just wanted to point out that people say things that don't mean anything all the time. You even said yourself that you may find a lot of people "not ugly" but you wouldn't date them. Hence, no reason to call the beautiful or make a complement because, if you didn't want to date them, the complement is totally useless.
What I’ve noticed is that ugly people become extremely self aware, and they learn to read people. Maybe it’s the isolation or the fact that they don’t have a big social life, love interests, friendships etc that they develop an extra sense. Most ugly people are smart and logical, they make choices based on logic and not emotion because they know that if they make a wrong move, they will pay the price and no one will come to the rescue
For sure, and def even more so for beautiful woman than men. That's why a lot of(not all) good looking women don't have many skills, hobbies, interests, or much of a personality.....and just focus on their looks and having fun.
Not really sure what these traits have to do with ugly people but grinding poker definitely helped my people intuition... or vice versa, my interactions with people of all walks of life helped my poker.

I've been one of those people who some think is pretty, and others think is ugly. But when I was growing up, I was mostly treated as ugly. (even my parents treated me that way) It used to hurt me a lot because I wanted to feel like those pretty girls. I wanted to feel beautiful. But as I grew into adulthood, I realized how much trouble I was spared. Those popular girls and guys had so many backstabbing, two-faced friends who were secretly jealous of them. A lot of them ended up getting pregnant early, like right out of high school or before they even graduated. Some were pressured into doing dangerous things in order to stay popular with their friends, and some of them died because of it. Some of them even committed suicide. I was able to see later on how much of a headache it would have been to be one of them. Even though I was deemed ugly, it took the pressure off me to try to be like them because I knew I couldn't. It was lonely, but at the same time....peaceful.

I can see that being ugly has a lot of advantages. I am good looking, men think I’m in my 30’s but i’m actually a lot older. They never believe when I say I’m over 50, turning 54 next month (October). Being good looking brings on a lot of insecurities, anxiety and depression, I have had it all but getting better as I age, more wiser in all I do. The good looking people notice one small mole appearing on their face/skin and it drives them insecure and how to get rid of that mole/spot. I do it to myself many times. The ugly person would never imagine it as they are the ones who seem at peace, confident and happy in life. They are a blessing for people like me, I can see past the ugly and how beautiful they really are ♥️
