Newborn baby deer in hiding & mothers return

- Five different camera view angles - fawn stands to stretch, grooms itself, and waits until dark for its mothers return. This is normal behavior for baby deer (fawns), they hide by themselves until the mother returns to feed them. They don't need to be rescued, in fact to pick them up or move them is very harmful. When I found this fawn I set up the cameras and left it alone with the cameras running.
These babies are so adorable and I think it is awesome the way mama will leave them and stay gone for HOURS and the baby just lies there patiently waiting for her to come back. My mother told me that when she was potty training my older brother she also had a newborn a couple of years younger than the brother she was potty training. She put "Jake" on his potty chair and told him, "Don't you move until I come back and get you". She then went away and started caring for her newborn and doing other chores around the house and she TOTALLY FORGOT the toddler sitting on his potty chair. Her best guess was that she had left Jake on his potty for longer than an hour when she finally remembered him and went running back to see where he had gotten to and when she got back he was still patiently sitting on his potty chair waiting for her. She asked him why he didn't come and get her or at least call out to her and he said that she told him to stay there until she came back so he was just waiting and he knew she would come because she had told him she would. My brother was grown when she told me that story but she cried as she told it because she still felt bad about forgetting about her toddler and leaving that little fellow sitting on his potty chair for such a long time. Seeing this little fawn reminded me of that story.
What a sweet little fawn,I just love it!!!🙂🙂🙂
Thanks for watching!!
Fawns are so pretty.😊❤
Yes they are, thanks for watching!
whenever I lose myself I watch this video. It helps me breath again
So true....same here also
It still amazes me that these newborn fawn know not to make noises nor run around exploring or playing. Such good instincts for self preservation. I wonder how long a fawn will wait around for its mother if she doesn’t show up for much longer than usual?
Edit: really enjoyed this video, thanks!
Thanks for watching I'm glad you liked it.
Yeah, seems kind of crazy other species don’t kill off their amazing babies because it may be inconvenient at time for them but humans do it all the time.
@@Nick-fz2oohorses, zebras, and lions kill their babies if 1. they're not their bloodline, 2. they can't walk, or 3. there isn't enough food to go around and the baby is one extra mouth to feed.
@@Nick-fz2ooactually animal unfortunately do kill their babies sometimes. But I have great respect for how dogs are usually patient for their puppies and want to take care of other small animals. But no doubt there are good human mothers out there but it seems a lot of bad people too

Beautiful footage! Mom wasn’t too sure about the camera lights! Surprised she had another one with her but maybe it was hiding elsewhere.
Thank you! It surprised me too. thanks for watching!!
A beautiful baby!
So sweeter and innocent this baby... 😍
Thanks for watching!!
How cute, since I've started fishing I've been lucky enough to find two fawns. Albeit, I didn't see one of them for 15 minutes at least before I spotted it because of how well camouflaged it was right next to me. The other one I never saw at all, it was behind me very well hidden and it eventually got up and ran while I was fishing from shore. Scared the crap out of me!
Thanks for sharing that and for watching!!
Another great video buddy. Just beautifully filmed. Thank you.

Impressive work. Thank you..so she 2 babies with separate place to hide.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching! Yes the other one was hiding close by and honestly I didn't know it was there until it showed up on the trail camera.
@@MtAirWild I heard mother deer keep fawn save in the dense vegetation and maybe they are twins. The other fawn surprised me too. Was it dense vegetation where you took picture??
Yes there was some dense vegetation in the area.
I think the Doe would hide a fawn in separate spots in order to decrease the chance of predators finding them. For their small size, they are vulnerable and could also rest in these spots and be on their way once the Doe comes back from foraging.

From 3:27 to 3:30 you can see it is actually 2=two fawns.
Yes, it was hiding near by and I was not aware of it until it showed up at night with its mother on the trail camera. All daytime shots are of the same fawn from different angles.
How come Timmy got to go with mom and Jim stayed home? Of course he’s the favorite child.
Unless he was hiding elsewhere?
It's amazing that the babies know not to stay together.
I've seen other videos where the fawns were in different spots also.
They all come out for the milk when their mom shows up & then return to their separate resting places. Adorable!!!
Thanks for sharing this cute video with everyone! 🌝

Thanks! and thanks for watching!!
Pleased no other hungry animals got to the fawn !!!
wobbly legs...
Yes they are, thanks for watching!
How does it know to just stay put and not wander? Where did the mom go and why it took her so long?
It is just instinct, if they don't stay hidden a coyote would get them for sure. The mom stays away and only returns to feed the fawn. If the mom stayed with the fawn and the coyote found them the mother is fast enough to get away, but the fawn is not. That is why they stay separated. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!
three!
Do they think? I mean, do they have any internal monologue like "When will mother come back?" or are they just blank?
WHO
are.you.asking,.now really?
The mother deer will leave for most of the day and will only return every 5 or 6 hours for feeding. The fawn knows exactly what to do....lay still because they have no scent for at least 2 days after birth.
@@Gold-oj8do Fawns have no scent for 2 days after birth? How is this possible? Even when the fawn is born, there's lots of blood and fluid left on the fawn, so theres that scent unless the mother spent alot licking the fawn to mask the scent. Thats the only way I can think of its scent being masked.
@@rafihaq9321 Yes, the doe will eat all the afterbirth...just like most animals. They keep them scent free by continued cleaning. Fawns can stand around 20 minutes after birth but keeping up with the mom is a different story. That's why she leaves them but stays close by....she will attack a predator. This is from the internet: Fawns are born scent-free and have white camouflage spots which protect them from predators. The doe continues to keep her babies scent free by consuming her fawns urine and droppings.
Fawns are so cute.
Wonder where the mom goes for so long?
She gets enough food to make milk for her baby
Omg, what if Lion saw it hiding.
You will be glad to know there are no lions around here. Thanks for watching!
@@MtAirWild- God bless you and Happy new year.
Is there hyenas and jackal...
No

To think how many fawns are hiding this minute and waiting for their deer mother's return with food, and to think whether these does had been shot...
Rest a sure state wildlife management would not allow hunting season to be open at the same time that does are giving birth and raising fawns.

is it a whitetail deer?
Yes it is a whitetail deer fawn. Thanks for watching!
Fawn has to survive in extreme bad conditions ,that's very painful ! How safe Human life is compared with Animals !!

Wait there’s another one! Did she get him from a different hiding spot? Do they do that? If it’s twins do they hide them separately? Hmm

Being separate protects at least one of the fawns. A predator would probably kill both of them if given the chance.

I hope abd pray God it's safe

A baby deer has no scent for the first couple of days of its life so the mother deer leave them only to return a few times a day for feeding. After it is strong enough the mom will be with the fawns until they are fully matured. A Doe will rarely abandon a fawn.

but Is it the same baby deer which got united with mom ??
@@KARTHIKPANCH97 Yes, it's the same baby deer. The mom deer (Doe) know their own offspring. In fact most Does will not nurse another Does fawn.
Aklima bembi geldi
Where did the mom go leaving such a small baby alone?!!!
the mother deer leave to get food while the fawn stays behind.
@@mynameisjeff8301 correct
For the first 2 months or so fawns are pretty helpless and slow so mom hides her baby immediately after birth. Fawns have very little odor and are very well camouflaged but moms presence attracts predators. She only comes around every few hours to nurse it and go away again. Staying away from the fawn is the best way she can ensure it's survival.
@@edwardmontoya50 makes sense 👍👍
Thanks for the info.
I would give it a like if you had captured a lion walking up to the calf instead. 🤗
Calves are baby cows, not deer.
Yould better just stay down baby
I seen this in wild few times. I stop turn around go quietly elsewhere. Leave them alone.
That is definitely the right thing to do. Most people will pick it up and think they have rescued it. that is the worst thing to do. Just so you know I very slowly and quietly set my cameras up, then walked away, I only returned to retrieve them much later.
where is its mom
