Because she knew before hand she couldn't keep it at her home, when it grows up. She already has dogs and kids. So.

Yeah. First time I've ever seen a dog put his arm around his little buddy. There is a saying that I picked up somewhere, possibly in college. "When you love something, let it go.' Fortunately, Beth already knew that she was acting as a surrogate mother, encouraging his independence and his natural instincts as an adult buck. I have watched this video so many times because I never get tired of it and I love the outpouring of affection and he just eats it up.
Dogs don't have arms! That is a foreleg.
My Aunt and Uncle raised an orphan deer. She was never in captivity either. She came and went as she pleased. She finally left and made it on her own, but she never forgot. Every year she would bring her fawns to the house for them to see. She lived to be a ripe old age and they were sure she died of natural causes. This video reminded me of their experience.

Pretty much lived this video back in the 90's. Same thing, fawn on the side of the road with it's mother killed by a car. Raised it in the basement until we could leave it into the woods. Every evening at 6 it clomped at the door for dinner. We put an orange vest and bell on it. Joined a herd in the woods and stopped coming, but would walk up to us in the woods while the rest of the herd ran. Thanksgiving with the family all at the house, pounding at the door. Opened the door and there it was, waltzed right in the living room as if coming to visit for Thanksgiving.

That's makes me happy thanks for taking the time
When I was a teenager, one of our neighbors found a little fawn nestled next to his dead mother by the side of the road. She had been hit by a car and he was too young to be by himself, so our neighbors took him home. He had no fear of humans, would walk right up to strangers and was very affectionate. Around the 4th of July, we realized he was likely deaf, because he didn't respond at all to the noise of fireworks. A deaf deer wouldn't last long in the wild. He ended up going to a petting zoo in Grand Junction, where he lived out his days being loved, petted and fed.
Awww so sweet 👍

@@vikkinicholson5880 Not exactly the same fam, but I get your point that you respect life.
@@vikkinicholson5880 On the contrary, states issue permits, which here in Colorado, are hard to combine. You enter a drawing hoping your number is called. How many permits depends on how the herds are doing. Hunting actually has helped make the herds stronger and healthier. No, I'm not a hunter but I have been around it all of my life. Since you are concerned about the deer and all of the other wildlife out there, what is doing the most harm is all of building they are doing in areas where the wild population live. Humans have taken their home away drastically which limits them, causes disease, and threatens their life.

When an animal can connect on such a human level. It breaks my heart that these guys are hunted for game.
What makes it worse is most will take a pic of what they killed while smiling
Amen.
Sadly where I used to live it was illegal to hunt them. They had no natural predators and became overpopulated, and stripped the land of food for themselves. They became diseased and malnourished, and this is when an emergency hunt was enacted. But it was too late, the damage was done. This is why having hunting and natural predators is very important to a species and their survival.
@@excelsior8682 Exactly. As creepy as I find posing with dead bodies to be, deer are prone to overpopulation and hunting them is usually a good thing

@@jackappleseed6728 I guess we should also tell the bears and lions they have no right to hunt other animals either, o also to tell deer and giraffe to stop eating birds for protein.
@@Ater_Nefarium Deer and giraffes don't eat birds wtf XDDDD what a dumbass
@@rachelbard4985 Actually, you're wrong there. Deer will eat young birds they find on the ground at times if protein is scarce in their food. Same with Giraffes and other herbivores. They will also chew on bones if calcium is lacking. And yes these are facts I can show you if you do not believe me, facts from actual wildlife researchers. In fact, even on farms where you have free-range poultry and you have goats. You will sometimes see a goat grab a baby chick and eat it. It's shocking the first time you see it, admittedly. But it does happen. Same with horses. I was raised on a farm, I've seen horses, and goats, grab baby chicks and eat them. All of our birds were free-range.
Also, people HAVE to hunt the deer because there are no wolves in the area. If a deer population in the area gets TOO big, then the animals will start dying off from disease and starvation after, first, denuding an area of vegetation because they're hungry. And, to be honest, if I had to choose my way of death between being torn apart by a pack of wolves, or being shot in the head / chest area? I'd rather be shot. The death is very fast.
Yes I am a hunter. I also go fishing. No I don't use snap traps or anything like that, I think THOSE are evil. There's no need to leave an animal in pain like that. If a person is going to kill an animal, it should be for food and other uses. I strongly disagree with those who do so for sport.

They are beautiful, but venison is absolutely delicious! Plus after hitting a few with your vehicle and paying thousands and thousands in damage, blasting a couple isn't so bad.
I know but sometimes you have a murderbuck. Those are 1 year old bucks that will attack anything, even their own herd. It's horrible to see the wounded deers after. We sometimes had to mercy kill young or female deers. Most bucks luckily aren't but we expect murderbucks are in alot more pain then normal bucks when the antlers first grow. We hunt those bucks. @Great White
What a nonsense.. Humans have eaten meat for literally as long as we have being walking.. It is like calling lions and dogs soulless for eating meat.. It is part of our diet..
The difference is killing for sport, and killing for food.. Animals kill for food.. Lot of terrible humans kill just for sport and leaving their prey to rot.. That is the difference.. My grandfather always was a hunter and he treated his prey with great respect.. Only killing them if really necessary and when he did he made sure to eat almost the entire thing together with our neighborhood.. He also worked to keep the population on decent levels and hostile predators that don´t live in this region away.. Sometimes we got wandering wolves who come from Germany into our region and they really hurt the wild life here if left unchecked..
I compare it with fishing.. It is a lot of fun to do with friends and you can possibly even eat one on occasion, but catching fish to just leave them on the shore to rot is just cruel and pointless...
There is the difference for me..
Your german sheppard jumping around then putting his paw on him is the sweetest thing ive seen in a while

@@lunaazule1899 people actually do that? the hell
@@lunaazule1899 Some animals do it (like lamb) to spread the smell of their fart, so their mum knows they are her children ;)
@@sannehol6942 Of course! I temporarily forgot that animals don't do anything without a good reason. Thank you
This is a one in a life time chance to have a fawn come to your door everyday and act like this.... thank you for taking him in! 🥰🥰
~ I just wanted to say thanks to The Dodo channel and all of the contributions everybody gave to this channel over the years.
Whoever you all are, thank you for all your efforts that shows us what can happen when you have a heart of gold.
Your love for animals is inspirational and more important is wild animals are starting to learn they have human friends as well. 🐕☮️
This is beautiful.
I'd like to imagine him talking about his nice lady friend who gives him snacks and compliments about his cool antlers and his dog friend to his deer friends.
Loved the video also. I too had a momma deer bring her twins to me, everyday for weeks, then a second moma brought her twins. I think the deer are talking to each other! I got pics also.
kaung ha ha I can imagine that
LOL! and his deer pals asking him what he was smoking...
Yes i'd love that too, i wish we could all live in fairy land where nothing bad ever happens ever ! We were meant for that right from the beginning and then something happened..the snake bit us and God said we can't live in Eden anymore
Talking about his dear friend to his deer friends
Saving the life of a precious, little creature but still allowing him to be wild is the best gift she could have given him. The fact that he can leave home and thrive is a win!
What a beautiful boy!

THIS IS SO SWEET! YOU ARE A WONDERFUL LADY TO HAVE BEEN LOOKING AFTER HIM FOR SO LONG!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Simply beautiful
Sweet voice, angelic personality, animal friends!
Yessir, shes a Disney Princess
yup, Princess Nature (or something like that) :>
Pretty too
And I'm a dirty Ogre!
👏👏👏
@@cory35hogan you’re shrek’s brother. Lol
She is such a wonderful person! She saved a soul but she let him be free and enjoy his life in nature. Lovely!
100% wife material, such persons are very rare to find nowdays
What a lovely little creature. You are truly blessed to have him in your life! Good idea to mark him so other people know he's a special deer.
Taping his antlers in blaze orange was brilliant! 😇

Rocky: This is my spotted sibling. He's skinny but I love him.
My mom calls him Copper, but I like to pretend his name is Bullwinkle. We go on adventures to defeats Natasha and Boris.
See, Copper was this great Bloodhound; sacrificed themselves for their friend, they did. I bet that is why mom calls him that.
I know Beth really well and she's honestly like this all the time, not just with all of her animals but people too, she's such a sweet soul ❤️
I heard she likes to pick her butthole with her fingers and then forces people to smell her hand. Kinda gross tbh.
@@jhk0428 your weird and not funny 😒 u probably have no friends
@@Zerospawnn you like to smell her hand don't you?
@@jhk0428 yup.. Internet never changes, neither do you pricks
@@jwn5 Lots of people pick their butthole. Not a big deal. Don't let it ruin your day
We had Dale the deer when I was younger. He left after only a few months though. She was lucky to have such a bond with that wild animal
Great job. You did a good thing helping him and letting him grow without spoiling him too much 😂❤
1:16 doggo hugs fawn. So cute and I love the happy hoppy hops. So cute
I almost died from cuteness
“Sup bro”
That wasnt a ‘hug’ btw (anthropomorphizing of furry creatures can lead to bad outcomes). It was a dog doing dog behavior to control the situation, even in the name of fun.
@@bovinityleak2066 ya totally the comments on youtube about a dog hugging a baby deer can lead to all kinds of bad outcomes..... mostly toxic commenters taking it to seriously and or trying to sound like they are smarter than everyone else. pfft smh. wow.
@@bovinityleak2066 Wow, Your SOOOOO smart.....Maybe you should take your "Smart" comments somewhere where they are wanted.
Animals really are intelligent...
They know the place where they are going to be cared well...
Also, they know the place where they are going to be famous 😀
And this one probably knew where he would get food every time.

That's the cutest thing about animals. They don't know about biting the hand that feeds
@@pokemonitishere202 omg. It’s their instinct. He thinks she is his mother. And to this saying with the hand that feeds you: it‘s classic classism, which could be a quotation by Malthus, Thather, Reagan or Trump personally.
Deer = Cute.
This saying ≠ Cute
Vegans: so stop eating animals lmfao.
@@friedrichvonfinck4710 that made zero sense to me, elaborate?
The friendship between dog & fawn is very strangely beautiful. For the dog in the wild, Bambi is dinner.
Wow..filming the deer regularly showing its growth requires a lot of patience..thanks
I love that everybody in the community respects the tag. I wish I lived in a community like that.
So hunters will see the orange tape on his antlers and “respect the fact that he’s marked” and leave him alone..... only to go murder another equally innocent and unsuspecting animal. Great. 🙄
