    This case is made for 1 thing really, and Lian li isn't marketing it correctly:
    It's made for making an ITX system with a fuckton of custom watercooling. As a consolation prize for people who still have an ATX motherboard, it supports those in the interim.
    Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

      Personally I like this case, and I think it's a great versatile design for mATX or ITX builds.
      But given it's size only an all-out custom water cooling build would make good sense to me; otherwise why not stuff everything in a proper NR200 sub-20 liter SFF case?

    • @TheJjjoj
      @TheJjjoj Před 3 lety

      @@MichaelChan0308 This exactly. I love SFF personally but one reason to not go sff is that you lose flexibility. Most of my customers and many people in general keep the same case and PSU for essentially forever so being able to still have reasonable motherboard, graphics card, and cooling flexibility is more important than PSU flexibility.

    Appreciate the fair criticism. I just ordered this case and I am about to transfer my build from an ATX case into this. I know it can't fit a 360ML RAD on the top, but can it fit three 120LL fans? Either way, I have a 240ML so I wouldn't need to worry about the problem of fitting my RAD up top. I am still deciding on putting it to the side or at the top, depending on if I can fit three 120ML fans at the top.

    I was hoping to fit 2x 240mm rads and a full loop for my 5600x/3080 strix in my NR200. The radiators fit, the cpu block fits, the tubing route works just the gpu block is 10-15mm too tall and sticks out of the case. This case looks like it might be the go, huge for itx but no compromises on the cooling front and I'd be curious to see just how much I could push the 3080.

    I was considering this case for my build a few weeks ago. But I ran into the same issues you described when looking closer at it. I was planning a dual 360mm radiator and I saw that wasn't quite possible for my ATX board. Second was the PSU. I'd have to buy a new one which wasn't in my budget atm. So got a Neo QUBE 2 for $40 more. The full O11 Dynamic was way out of my price range in my area. Double what I paid for Neo QUBE 2. I'm glad I managed to find and get the last one that was in stock :D They really missed on a lot of opportunities with the O11 Mini because of the radiator clearance but mainly the PSU requirements.

    • @FerralVideo

  • @Kokinkun
    @Kokinkun Před 3 lety +1

    Optimum Tech showed a 360 rad fitting up top with an ATX board, though it's largely dependent on motherboard heatsinks, RAM height and the rad width.
    I do respect your opinion and legit frustrations with this case. If this case doesn't suit your needs, it does seem like a bad design with many missed opportunities. I think the O11/O11 XL already meets the needs for people with ATX/E-ATX boards and ATX PSUs. It seems that this case is better suited for mATX/ITX/DTX users who want more watercooling options (ITX/SFX != SFF). It's crazy to be able to support 2x 360 + 1x 280 rads for the smaller ITX/DTX form factors and is only 1 inch longer than my current Caselabs Mercury S3.
    I preordered two in white for me and my wife and it will be her first time watercooling! We do have smaller motherboards (X570 CH8 Impact and Strix ITX) though, so we get maximum configuration options without any of the frustrations you experienced. While there are other great review videos out there, I think your video did a great job in showing who this case is not for and that's 100% okay!

  • @Phynellius
    @Phynellius Před 3 lety

    it's pretty cool how many build options you have with the case, but mATX and miniITX seem to be better suited for the case for sure. Shame about the 360 mm aio support, but the loss of rad support when running eATX was covered by roman with his introduction video so not really surprising. It makes for a nice show case, especially for custom watercooling on a Crosshair VIII Impact 5950x build, could do full rad support that way and get a very clean build

      If you are looking to have negative pressure inside the case.
      I don't normally build like that because it means anywhere there's a gap in the case it will draw in air.
      Personally I build for more of a positive pressure in the case.
      That of course means it will mainly draw air from where you want it to, filtered intakes, and not from all the spaces it can find.
      Both ways of building work and it mainly depends on what you are wanting.
      Look into videos of Negative vs Positive pressures for building.

ATX build with two radiators still supports 750 - 800 watts of cooling with an ATX + ; and then there' still room for 3x noctua fans on top and 1x exhaust fan. Believe it can be done. You should be able to use even a 280. For me,ideal is a 240 or 280 rad on the side with 55 or 60mm rad and side intake. Bottom intale to solely cool gpu and top and back for exhaust.believe its most ideal as rad get most air to cool cpu. Gpu has best air intake.also exhaust is unobstructed, helping to remove hot air and keep temps lower

    Something seems wrong. Why would it be better to have the side fans as exhaust? Aren't they robbing the top radiator of air flow? If the three fans at the bottom are filtered and the two side fans are not filtered the case is already at negative pressure. That would mean that the radiator fans are already having to overcome that negative pressure. My build in an o11 air has nine filtered intake fans and the 360 radiator is side exhaust. CPU is a 3950x and all fans idle at ~800 rpm with an idle temperature of 7c over ambient (except it lives in a cubby hole so 10c over ambient). CPU-Z stress test at stock is 48c above ambient while in the cubby hole. I am considering changing the radiator to the top so it will get more airflow over the VRM because it is VRM temperatures that is limiting my OC.
    Edit: I had a conservative fan curve of 800 to 1200 rpm. Setting all fans to max ~1700 rpm CPU-Z stress ran at 44c above ambient in the cubby hole. So at ~41c above if not in the cubby hole.

    Maybe part of the reason they decided to go with an SFX PSU was to allow for better compatibility with high end air coolers? In order to fit a D15 or DRP4, you need to step up to the 011D XL which is ~15mm wider than the Mini, not to mention much taller and longer. Also, maybe that extra width gives a bit more clearance from the TG panel when mounting the GPU vertically?
    While the lack of 360mm AIO top mounting support in ATX mode is a huge missed opportunity IMO as well, I don't mind mounting a 280 AIO on the side. I was originally going to go SFF with an NR200, but man, this thing is damn sexy.

  • @John8.7

    I'm still going for it. Going for custom loop ATX with the radiator on the bottom and back. Also I plan on using 2 sfx PSU's--one on top and the other where the HDD's goes, but plans do change, so we will see the final results.
    P.S. Thanks for the video and I do agree that they could of adjusted the case to fit a standard ATX PSU and raise the case height slightly.

    The "E-ATX" (SSI-CEB) build, using the same motherboard, should actually be possible with a 280 AIO on the side, as long as the AIO and PSU is monted before the motherboard. With an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280, with the radiator mounted "inside" and the fans on the "outside", the motherboard would overlap the radiator a little bit, it would be very tight and the 24-pin ATX power cable wouldn't fit between the motherboard and the radiator so it'd have to be routed "above" the motherboard instead. This is all according to my rather careful calculations based on the O11 Dynamic Mini blueprints, and it's the build I'll be going for.
    If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll go the custom loop route. :)
    Oh, and many thanks for a great video!

    Its ny opinion that a top mounted exhausting AIO Cant get the best CPU thermals because its eating GPU exhaust as its coolant.
    Side AIO intake for a cool CPU, and bottom intake for a cool GPU. Top and rear are heat exhaust.

    This is strange but I kind of like this idea: I'm not sure that I like that SFX is the *only* option here but I already have a 700 watt SFX anyway so I can power a very reasonable amount of hardware with it as it is. Being able to fit ATX and mATX means that motherboard choices are suddenly a lot better. Size is not ideal, sure, and it's not the smallest ATX size I've seen (Check out the Riotoro inverted ATX case from several years back) but it still have options otherwise not found like more 3.5 if you want those fancy hellium 10+ terabytes of video storage without additional NAS.
    This would compete directly vs Corsair 280x but with the option of also using ATX while sacrificing the ATX PSU compatibility, which I think has its uses but for people that very specifically want ATX motherboards on a smaller tower size footprint, not compact but about as small as it gets for the very generous radiator support.

    that's not disappointing at all considering that if you want to go full watercooling you can buy already o11 dynamic, o11 air and o11xl; how many chassis do you need for a watercooling build?! or better: what should I say then? if you want to build an air cooled pc in a case like the original o11d u're forced to buy the xl version that is both expensive and huge, cause it was obviously designed to fit 200 radiators and 600 fans.
