Meet Luis Guillorme, one of the most talented players in baseball you've never heard of. Luis has been a utility infielder for the New York Mets for
several years, finally getting his shot at playing every day in 2022. Between his one of a kind defense, top tier baseball IQ, and his unique set
of special skills, Guillorme is one of the most exciting players to watch in all of Major League Baseball. However, most fans don't know all that
much about him. Today's video is a showcase of Luis talents, which will hopefully put him on more fans' radars and get him the recognition he
deserves.

This guy has always been my favorite player. I’m glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves
so true happy he’s finally getting his flowers
This is i joke right?
Too bad he’ll never get off the bench again it was fun tho
Met Luis in Cincinnati last season, a great guy and it's been a joy to watch him play the field this season. If he doesn't win a Gold Glove it will truly be a shame
That’s what I say and that’s what I see when I go to Mets games. It’s much harder in person than you think it is.
The sad thing is he probably won't I don't think he's gonna be close to having enough time at one postion. He didn't start at the beginning of the season, shared time with mcneil at 2nd, and now is sharing time with escobar at 3rd, plus now he's hurt so while he may very be the best infield glove in the major leagues the gold probably isn't going his way
No chance he wins gold glove
I don’t think he’s had enough time on the field this season for a golden glove. Everyone agrees that he’s an awesome ball player though.
Good glover every year
Die hard Mets fan here- Thank you for making a video about him. He’s been amazing for us and I can see him winning multiple gold gloves very soon
Luis has been a nice part of the Mets success this year and it's cool of you to give him the attention he deserves. Keep up the good work and Let's Go Mets!
It’s a shame he got hurt today. He’s always been very sound defensively but has really stepped up the offensive part of his game. He’s a big part of the Mets success this year. Thanks Luis!
Thankfully it was strained groin and not a hamstring.
@@jayburdification groin injuries can be tricky. I don't want to see him rush back, and injure it more seriously. We don't need him out long term.
@@francissager3133 although missing him sucks, there is a chance we bring up vientos. atleast while he is away. if he goes away.
I know, we need him to qualify by gold glove
This video gave him the too much attention Sports lustrated cover jinx.
As a Mets fan, I’m so happy to see Luis get recognized for his great play.
Very happy to see this video! I love Guillorme. As a huge mets fan, it has been so fun to watch him since he came up a few seasons ago. I love to see videos like this talking about the cool and unsung players in MLB.
Thank you for making this video!! I love watching him playing, his low key, humble attitude, but it is cool to watch him being praised for his game!! especially if we make a deep run on the playoffs this year, he deserves to be remembered as a very important piece of this team.
It is truly awesome to watch Luis play for the Mets this season. He is the teams culture personified: playing excellent defense, willing to get dirty and grind out at bats and slap the ball the other way. Hoping they go far in the playoffs so he really gets to shine in the spotlight.
Andres Gimenez definitely shows up in one clip and god he'd definitely fit that culture but also he's the Guardians' culture personified.
Everything you said plus being clutch af. A reunion of the two one day would be amazing
@@ezridaxsgender3914 andres is the American League Luis Guillerme
@@ezridaxsgender3914 where do you think Giminez got it from?
Being teammates with Guillorme
@@Posirep I'm sure he also learned a thing or two throughout the minors and they were only teammates for that short 2020 season but yah this is probably partially true at least
@@ezridaxsgender3914 They were teammates in the minors too
Heck YES, Luis deserves all the love. Dude is a defensive wizard and has really done well batting this year too.
He's probably an average starter (based on his WAR)
So great you made this video. I'm a die hard Mets fan and have loved watching Luis come up the last few years. So cool to see him living up to his potential this year with more game time. Awesome you have included his spring training heroics in here too. Luis is one of the slickest fielders to play the game and you are right, one of the smartest too. Respect for making this !!!
How did I not see this video until today? My son and I watch nearly every Mets game. Guillorme has been one of our absolute favorite players for as long as he's worn the orange and blue. Incredible talent. Superlative baseball smarts. And just a boatload of fun to watch! Thanks for making others aware of this amazing player!
As a Mets fan Luis Guillorme is one of my favorite players . He’s such an important piece and i hope he’s not hurt for too long
As a Mets fan it warms my heart to see Guillomre get some recognition.
Loved watching this as a Mets fan. He really does everything well or, at a high level when he's on the field. I hope he gets shown some more love, by more fans/teams around the league.
Sorry for the double comment, but I would LOVE to see the same type of video for Nido. He does so many little things right- he is up there with Guillorme with IQ and his ability to catch this veteran staff has been fun to watch
As a Mets fan I’m well aware of Luis. He’s improved a lot this season, similar to how Diaz, Lindor and Alonso have improved. He got hurt in todays rubber game against the Phillies. Hope he recovers quickly.
All different situations
Edwin Diaz had a down stretch but was known as a dominant closer before the Mets, Pete had to deal with no more juiced balls and the down and away off speed. Lindor was more off a head situation his fundys never left but he let a bad start carry over and with no lineup protection prolly felt isolated for a lot of season
@@Lamm2910 Of course the individual situations are different, that wasn’t my point. My point is that they all improved from their previous seasons.
@@Lamm2910 bro really thought this was a gotchu moment
Let's Go METS!!!!!
As a Mets fan, I love watching Guillorme! But some concern for him right now as he left today's game, hope it's not serious so he can come back to being the best defender soon
4:54 - At that time I Tweeted "there is exactly one (current) infielder I trust to identify and make this play and his name is Luis Guillorme"
Mets fans have gotten to watch his fantastic defense and his really great ability to identify good defensive choices, and it's been a treat
Thanks for making this much much much deserved video! Super cool, man.
Thanks for this video. Never had heard of this guy as an O’s fan, but I love when the hard nosed, gritty, under the radar guys get love.
Go O's!!!!!
Yes, Luis is a incredibly underrated player. I've been waiting for him to take it to another level with his bat for the last 3 years and to see him breakout like he has is one of the nicest things about this season with the Mets
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. I’ve been a fan of Luis’ for years, and I love seeing him get this recognition now. His hands are magic.
Mets fans know what this guy can do. Not a superstar but the kind of guy every team needs. Sure happy to have him. Great video!
I think his uncommon body type for his athletic ability, lack of batting gloves, use of an outfielders glove in the infield, and him always packing a lip contribute to his image. He has the I don’t care and I’ll play how I want to vibe which makes him a fan favorite.
I love him as a Mets fan, but he is the most athletic unathletic-looking player I've seen.
“Most athletic unatheltic player”? No that’s Bartolo Colon. :P
Love Luis. As a Mets fan I'm always assured he's gonna be an important part of us winning games.
thanks so much for this video, Guillorme is my favorite player and its shocking how underrating someone as good as Luis can be.
I’m a Mets fan. And I appreciate you, appreciating Guillermes contributions to the game of baseball. Thank you for this video. You a put a big smile on a lot of Mets fans face with this one
It really is too bad there isn’t a utility player gold glove, because he would absolutely win it. Man deserves more recognition as one of the league’s best defenders.
As a Mets fan, I thank you for making this video. Luis is a stud and the world needs to know!
LFGM
My dad and a lot of my friends are Mets fans, so I see my daily dose of Luis Guillorme. He really is something else. I was actually on vacation in Miami and saw that play on July 29th in person. I always love a smart baseball player.
I’m so happy you made this video!!!!!! Only true Met fans know of how good he is. Thank you!
Luis and Lindor on the infield is just pure joy to watch. How this man doesn't have a couple gold gloves is beyond me. There is nobody better.
Gold gloves typically go to everyday players not guys who's career high is 90-some games in a season. Maybe now he can have a better chance since they have one specifically for utility players though.
Loved watching him ever since he caught that bat in the dugout years ago. He's such a joy to watch in the field. Thanks for putting this together.
You're right. I had never heard of him. But he did things in this video that were pretty amazing. Making the most out of his talent, good for him. Glad he's a starter now, he deserves it.
I'm so glad you included the spring training game where he caught the bat. It was so smooth lol. Also, thank you from a Mets fan for showing Guillorme some love! He really deserves it! Hopefully he comes back soon!
Guillorme!! He’s always been underrated just finally get a chance to play everydsy finally under buck. Happy for him and great video
Yes. I remember first seeing him in 2017 in spring training when he first cracked the 40 man. His glove impressed me right away. His ability to field 2nd, 3rd, and short has made him extremely valuable to my Mets. For those of you who don't know, Guillorme is easily a gold glove caliber infielder who could be an everyday guy on most teams solely because of his glove.
Such a damn stud for my Mets, LGM!! Much respect for doing a video for him, he deserves way more love!!!
Myself being a Mets as well as Yankees fan I can say Luis is a fan favorite across my family as well as the Mets fan base. He is the utility player that a lot of young children should strive to be, someone who is very skilled with his glove, can play many positions and has good bat to ball skill. He may not look like the most athletic or have the most power but he’s got all the tools needed for an everyday platoon guy which means you can play for a long time. I think I truly fell in love with Luis’s game (if I hadn’t already) when my dad and I sat down to watch a Mets spring training game and we saw his iconic 22 pitch at bat. One of the best at bats I’ve ever watched of all time. I’m grateful for Luis and I’m sooooooo glad you made this video.
I remember a Spring Training game when he nonchalantly caught a bat one handed that was flying to the Mets dugout on an overswing by a batter.
Oh, yeah! I remember that!
Yep
dude also has the smoothest bat flip after a walk, and is one of our best slap hitters that pisses off pitchers.
love this guy
Love this video. He was my favorite when he played for the Mets and it was awesome to see him position player pitch against us this year!
I wish his bat had been more reliable so we could've kept him!
love the video.. luis is my favorite met. the dude is a hidden gem.. cant wait for him to get back
I was at his first home run game. I love the dude I’m so glad he blossomed into what he’s become
While most of these are from 2022 like you said there was one play where the announcer says "Gimenez rolls over" to let Guillorme get it.
LOVE my boy Andres. Making the Lindor trade worth it for Cleveland and he makes lots of fun plays like this too
Great video. My favorite Met, hands down!
Yes. Huge Mets fan here and I have had the pleasure of watching Guillorme’s glove work since his first appearance on the team.
I remember seeing him for the first time and saying to myself thinking “ppffftt, this guy is a baseball player?” Then I watched him play and said “wow, this guy is a baseball player!”
Most underrated player in the league.
Went to HS with Luis, so happy he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.
@Dennis Jeffrey Pippen why does he need to prove shit? if you don't believe him just move on
@Dennis Jeffrey Pippen did Joey ask u to speak?
@Dennis Jeffrey Pippen dude just shut up. dudes trying to tell a story, stop being immature, if you dont like it stop commenting , otherwise deal with it , don't cry
@Dennis Jeffrey Pippen did u type that out with a straight face cause that was the dumbest shit ive seen all week 😂😂🤣
@Dennis Jeffrey Pippen By that same token, you posted a reply comment therefore you have similarly invited anyone to respond. You cannot have it both ways.
I am also a huge Luis Guillorme fan! Thanks for making such a fitting tribute video and sharing it with us!
You are spot on!! luis is amazing and totally under rated! Every position they put him he excels.
As a long time NY METS fan, YESSSS, I know exactly who he is and how much value he has brought to the team under the radar! Nice video!
The behind the back flip to lindor at 2nd, that's the big one for me. Shows he not only has the spatial awareness to pull that one out off to begin with but trusts Lindor and LED him directly into the double play throw. One of the quietest monumental plays you'll ever see
It’s like “yes that is how you do that” but we never see it tried in a game. All his amazing plays are like that to me. It’s like he’s bringing baseball back to its ultimate potential for beauty and intelligence.
Great video! Definitely an under the radar player. Until now!
OMG YESSSSS! Guillorme has been so much fun to watch this season I'm so glad he's getting this recognition
Absolutely LOVE this... Luis finally getting the recognition he deserves
Just too bad he got hurt today (groin strain) 🥺 *praying* it's nothing too serious
Thank you for making this!!! His hands are absolutely insane, I wish more fans knew about him.
Die hard Mets fan. So glad this dude finally getting some shine! I could watch his defensive highlights all day.
I’ve been so confused why this guy doesn’t get talked about at all…thank you for shedding the light
I’ve loved Luis forever now since I’m a Mets fan. I’m so happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves
was talking to a coworker who claimed to be a Mets fan, when they asked me who my favorite player was and when I replied with Guillorme, he laughed at me. That's when I realized this guy is not a Mets fan.
I'm a Mets fan, so I'm biased, but this video brought me so much happiness. Thank you. Goose bumps!
Mets fans have known the name for some time now, but the man is consistently slept on. Great contact hitter and a nasty glove. Love to see him get some love. Great vid
Great video man!
I’ve known him since his freshman year of high school and I played with his brother. We all knew he was destined for greatness since we could remember
Oh yes, I’m an angels fan, but the Mets are so entertaining to watch, I watched his 22 pitch at bat in spring training, I watched him catch the bat when (I forgot who) someone let go of their bat when they swung, did it like he does it yesterday, and he is the most underrated play in baseball
I keep coming back to watch this video. So sad that he isn't a Met anymore but I am glad he is still in the NL East. I hope they give him the playing time he deserves. My man!!
Yes! I actually went to a Binghamton game in 2017. I did not know any of the prospects on the team. Then I was impressed by Guillorme’s defense. I am so happy that he ended up making the Mets and being an impactful piece.
So happy to see Guillorme getting some love. He’s been so good for the Mets this season.
Well...maybe that's a bit of a stretch. He is a solid starter though
@@derekwang7330 To say he’s been so good is a stretch? He’s a utility player who’s played very well and has come up big in many moments for the team. He doesn’t have to be an All Star to be very good.
I love this dude. I’m a Yankee fan, but everything about this guy makes me love him as a human being and a baseball player
Yes. I’m a huge Mets fan and thank you for doing this. He’s the most amazing infielder I’ve ever seen, and that includes Rey Ordoñez. Luis Guillorme is as good as Rey was, but from 3 infield positions, is far better offensively, and can grind pitchers down. There aren’t enough superlatives for this guy.
Respect for making this video, Guillorme is like Rey Ordonez out there with his glove. NM his at bats are always consistent, LFGM
I think the mlb should make a gold glove for utility players because luis’s glove is platinum glove level but he doesn’t play enough in one position to qualify for the award
yeah, those guys definitely deserve a lot more recognition, DJ LeMahieu also fits in that category pretty well, he plays GG level in at least second and third and he's above average at first but wouldn't really qualify for either since he rotates so much
YES. Ive been saying this forever, guy gets no recognition. He gives u gold glove defense at 2nd or 3rd, and the dude gets on base. Absolute STUD.
Here I thought I was the only one who had notice Guillorme all this time! Great video!
I think I’m the one of the only OGs that have followed him through the minors to the majors. I saw him play at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport TN in 2013 or ‘14 and I thought dang I love the way he plays. Got his autograph. Same story with Brett Baty but in ‘19. Can’t wait for his debut.
Yes, Platinum glove candidate
Yes, saw the long at bat against Jordan Hicks, he’s an amazing defender, saw his bat catch. Luis is a ⭐️.
Just saw your comment, I remember the same thing!
i was at the Mets Nats game you showed two of his highlights from! He is just so smooth in the field its hard not to be mesmerized.
On the IL just as this vid comes out. Thanks a lot!
Yes. I was actually at the game where he hit his first Major League Home Run. We were playing the Nationals at home in August 2019. I think he was a Pinch Hitter and a whole row of drunk frat bros in front of me were shouting at him not to swing.
We Mets fans absolutely love Guillorme! He does it all in the field. He can get gold gloves if he wants to.
My boy Guillorme finally getting some recognition! Thank you, Matt!
Wow, goosebumps from the full spread diving catches, those are unreal!
My favorite thing about this Mets season has been The Bearded Magician, "The Living Highlight Reel" he's literally otherworldly
He’s truly a gold glove candidate
Luis IS my favorite Met! Even Buck said that there should be a category at the All Star game for Utility Player. He would have won HANDS DOWN!! Thanks a lot for such a well-made video of a truly unsung hero! And, yeah...no shaving that beard, unless it's off season and for a commercial like the one Broadway Joe did back in the day! Thanks, again!
Thanks for talking about him, i didn’t know about him but now I definitely want a jersey of his
He's someone I drafted in OOTP when I created teams since his defense at SS was good and he was available in the later rounds.
OOTP loves Guillorme. Currently in year 5 of his career and with a month left in the season he’s slashing .350/.475/.425 and leading the league in MVP voting and WAR. Might be the first position player MVP with a high OBP than Slugging.
YES, I love Guillorme! He’s my second favorite player on the team behind McNeil!
My dude is electric in the infield. Definitely the most underrated defensive infielders in the game. Good job on getting his name out there.
LFGM!
Thanks for the education. I love these kind of players. Looks like Luis will make an excellent bench coach one day.
I have a game used bat of his that he used in spring training of 21'. Photomatched it to his 22 pitch walk 💪
I loved how he’s improved. He was a bad bat good glove and became good bat great glove
Hell yes, Luis. One of the best things about watching him play more regularly this season is that I got reminded of how much I fell in love with watching the great defensive infields the Mets had in the late 90s; having him and Lindor makes me feel like they've had a noticeable uptick in double plays turned, which felt like such a regular occurrence when I was a kid watching Ordonez and Alfonzo turn to throw to Olerud.
Yes. Huge Mets fan and love him!!
Elite hand eye coordination. Love watching him start a double play with Lindor
You showed Jesse Winker striking out just to bother me
He’s back from injury tonight and I couldn’t be any more excited. Luis plays with so much flair and every ball to infield feel like an opportunity for him to do something magic.
As a Mets fan I have been waiting on a video like this about him!!!!
