Without you I would have totally lost faith in this project ever delivering but, those 50 pages look great! Thanks so much for getting the job done! :)
Thank you!
Brother, not gonna lie, the 10 year anniversery for in search of hannibal is closing in. still hoping that the whole shipping thing doesnt get you there thou xD. ALSO THIS LOOKS AMAZING
Yeah the shipping is a huge issue but I think I have it sorted. So much has changed since we started this.
Throughout all of this, you've plainly and clearly shown who the professional is in this whole thing, along with give an important lesson to others on working with 'content creators', no matterr how responsible they may seem.
We backers, I learned that lesson too, albeit in a less painful way.
It is a rare and absolutely delightful sight to see a creator put so much effort into pre-production/documentation.
I'm looking forward to reading the book when it's out!
Thank you very much!
@@Steininger_Art No, thank you! Seriously, I am grateful your work will lead to both entertainment and education for many of us.
Amazing that it actually still going, wow i moved house twice since this was announced.
Thank you, I almost lost hope seeing this great work coming to completion before the day that I die (I'm already in my 60s). I'm looking forward to reading your great work!
Eagles of Rome definitely comes in English, and every fan of Roman history should check out all five issues. It's probably the best comic based in Ancient Rome out...yet.
I have to look at it at arms length so I'm not influenced by it. I love it.
Thanks for pushing through with the project i never doubted that it would be finished
Thanks for keeping at it bro, can't rush art 🙂
No you can't. It takes a long time to do this stuff. Kinda wish we never talked about it until the script was done.
Thanks for the update. Everything looks FANTASTIC. Really looking forward to the final product!
And thank YOU for the patience!
Nice to hear from you man, hope everything on the farm is going well along with your sanity!
I am so looking forward to this. Thanks for the update! The timing is a bit freaky because just 2 days ago your book came up in my mind and I went back to watch the whole livestream you and Lloyd had with Sargon. I loved the imagery you described for the battle of Zama about the desert setting signifying how Hannibal lost everything at the end
Wow. Amazing progress. Top notch research too. Blown away.
Thank you very much for keeping the project alive and love it!
Thank you very much. Means a lot!
As a lifelong fan of this era of history, the ongoing dedication to this project warms my heart! Keep up the good work! Right now from where I sit I'm looking at a framed game board I keep hanging on my wall in a poster frame (keeps it safe yet useable) of the first legit hex/counter wargame I ever bought as a kid. The Simulations Canada wargame Hannibal-The Italian Campaign...I cut school in 1981 just to wait for that package to be delivered, lol. So I sit here calmly looking for an excuse to take a day off work when your work of art is going to be delivered so as to get my next Hannibal fix, lol.
Thanks! Working hard on it. I really think people will enjoy it. There's a LOT to chew on in the script. It's going to be a really interesting book in the end. Cheers!
Thank you for keeping up the work on this and doing a great job, in spite of Lloyd's general bungling of everything!
I have 2 monitors - one has this open with me responding to you, and the other is Hannibal! Cheers!
The level of thought that went into these images reminds me of an experience I had at a scientific convention. It was in honor of Ada Lovelace, who wrote on Babbage's Analytical Machine, a design for a kind of Victorian mechanical computer. One of the events was a book launch for a comic authored by Sidney Padua. They drew the machine from some designs and literary references. At end of the talk a couple of historian/scientists announced that they'd never actually seen a rendering of what the entire machine might look like and especially to scale with a human. So this work of art was also a distinct contribution to science. I feel they're must be similar things in this book where a combination of historical observations (numbers of people, type of equipment, styles and techniques) must combine to form some never-seen-before renderings of the events.
Also my 3yr PhD took me 10yrs, so I feel you.
Thank you so much for the update. Looking really good, you're doing an amazing job. I feel wonderfully reassured that this project will be completed.
My daughter (5 and 1/2) is well ahead of her peers and I bought her a copy of the graphic novel version of The Hobbit for Christmas and we just finished reading it last weekend. She is so fascinated by it and so I look forward to sharing In Search of Hannibal with her once it arrives (after a preliminary check of course), even if I have to wait a while for it to be appropriate. She's going to love it.
Thanks a lot! Yeah, I can't wait to get it out the door. It's a beast, but it's a really, really cool project. Thanks so much for your patience!
Thanks for these updates, bud. Looks great!
Thank you!
Have to say I'm mighty impressed. I did not expect the artist to accumulate an entire library and even physical swords for the project :D
Very impressive to see such dedication to accuracy and realism!
Thanks for the update :) Just remembered and decided to look around if any updates where around.
Great art :D Keep up the good work ^_^
Thank you very much. I know it's delayed but it's coming along. The art side of things is no quick task. Thanks for your patience!
I hope things are going well. I appreciate your continued perseverance on such a massive project. I've been checking every 2 to 3 months to see how the project was going along ever since I backed it in 2016. I think it's an amazing spin on history and I'll be awaiting to see the end result.
Thanks very much! Yes, working hard on it every day!
I lost hope for this project a good few years ago. I'm so glad that it's finally coming. Thank you sir.
It is! Thanks for your patience!
Hi Chris! YOU are awesome and the major driver of this book. I remain hopefull and optimistic for the final completion of this work. I'm one of the many original backers and am concerned about getting my book when it's complete and ready to ship. I've moved since I backed this project. Who do we contact for that?
You can edit your address on backerkit
@@berndwolff2389 Yep, I can vouch for that. Did it when I moved.
@@berndwolff2389 done! thanks for the tip!!
Do you think it's too much to ask if the 'card game' that would supposedly ship with this book will be included? ;D
Before the book ships, a series of email notifications to all backers to confirm / update their address. Once the book is done we'll another announcement to get the final numbers for printing. As we get closer and closer I'll be doing more updates. Everyone will be notified. It's all good!
How good is it knowing you traveled the lands in the book! Amazing quality and passion. Do both you and Lloyd get a camo in the background of any big scene? Don't tell me. Tell me...
While its been an unexpected course of events, I still have and love my "Punic Tour" tshirt. While there are other makes with similar concepts, I much prefer the style made for this campaign. Is it possible to order a new one directly somehow? I see the listing on kickstarter but have no idea if there is a physical item in-stock or able to be made.
Exciting :)
I'm looking forward to it :)
April 2019. I can't wait! Good luck, Chris!
Since I ordered on Backerkit, and not kickstarter,,, I guess I don't get updates?
I think you get the same ones as from Kickstarter I believe. What I've been doing is sharing stuff on Instagram I want everyone to know it's coming along. I had to wait so long to even get started, but it's cooking now. Thanks for backing it!!!
@@Steininger_Art It had better be "coming along" its been years!
Never backed this book but absolutely plan on buying it when it comes to print if possible.
Good to hear! Stay tuned!
are we able to pre-order the book now?
I’m so so excited for this, really hope it all goes well I’ll definitely be purchasing this first chance I get.
Side note: noticed Hannibal is blind in his left eye? didn’t he go blind in his right? Really doesn’t matter at all of course, just curious.
Awesome! In our story he's lost his left eye after an infection. I'm sure there could be some back and forth on if it was REALLY right or left. I'd prefer left in terms of storytelling seeing as we read left to right. If it were a manga, I'd opt for losing the right reading right to left. If there's some historical grey areas I jump on that as an opportunity to opt for what reads best visually - after all - it IS a comic. Cool profile pic btw
@@Steininger_Art that makes a lot of sense, and you’re right there’s no real proof if it was right or left. Just wondered and keep up the great work I’m very excited to read this. As I’m a huge fan of Hannibal and ancient history and not to mention a avid graphic novel/Manga reader.
Could we please get a new update? Your instagram link doesn't work btw
They both ran with the money, this was started 6 years ago now.
My instagram is here: instagram.com/Steininger_art/ - you can see plenty of in the works action on Hannibal. Lindybeige has been preparing an update for everyone. What I can tell you is that the script is finally finished and I'm working on the art right now. Thanks for your patience!
Band Desena are beautiful comics
Did you read "ad astra: scipio to hannibal" a manga and it's my favourite adaptation of the second punic war you should definitely check it out
Have yet to read it - it looks pretty cool though.
Hello,
I ‘late pledged’ for this project and I have moved twice since pledging. How can I update my address and make sure I receive project updates?
Because I didn’t back it proper on Kickstarter, it shows me as a non-backer.
My dude...that was a waste of money.
I think you've been unfairly maligned during this endeavour when none of the problems are down to you.
I hope the book actually gets published at some point.
It will!
Are you even working on this anymore?
Remember to back up all that shit incase you lose it.
I'd love to see this but looks expensive (compared to similar books). Hopefully someone will upload the digital version so it can be available to everyone like library books. Or the printed version will appear in libraries for everyone to read for free like every other good, professional, well thought out educational book. If an educational book is not available for the public it must be poorly made and unreliable.
Thank you for illustrating this
I regret that a talented artist was taken in by the scam.
Something always rubbed me the wrong way with Lindybeige, I see now what it is.
@@silver4831
Lloyd is also a busy guy. Writing books is not the only thing he does.
@@qasimmir7117 He makes a video a month if that...
While this has been an absolute mission, you have been amazing and upfront about how it's going.
I think that this will probably be one of the most historically correct graphic novels put together and that was probably part of the problem, Lindy trying to perfect every little detail and getting distracted.
Well, I certainly hope it will turn out well. I'm plugging away at it working hard. I do hope people enjoy it.
Will the Hannibal comic be available to buy, for those who didn't back the Kickstarter?
This is a total scam - I really hope the internet people come and highlight it.
It looks great, but at this point I stopped caring and I'm not holding my breath. Not your fault though......
For the penniless like me, most of these books can be found on z-lib (through Tor)
I scour thrift shops and second hand books stores all the time.
