Well Katniss is 16. She never wanted ANY of this. She only wanted to protect her sister. She rides so hard for Peeta because he is a genuine GOOD person. He saved her and her family from starving when he threw her that bread. She is being manipulated by everyone around her. Peeta always only wanted what was best for Katniss.
Katniss isn't screwing with either Peeta's or Gayle's emotions, she just doesn't have room in her head or heart for romance. She knows she loves them, just like she loves her family, so she does everything she can to make sure they're both safe and sound.
In the books, it's a little more obvious that she doesn't understand their feelings for her. She's frustrated by both of them, because she feels like there are much bigger things to worry about. And she's right.

I agree. In the books, she had A LOT more serious issues to focus on and didn't have time to think about romance compared to the war and enemies gunning for her family/friends. Book readers know who she ends up with, but that was only after the war ended and she finally had time to think about her feelings and who was logically the better choice for her after her many traumas. But, the books definitely told a better story in my opinion.
@@LovelyLies16 she literally had PTSD and CPTSD from both her games so I can completely understand it and Spoiler Alert: She still went on to have 2 kids with Peeta
Its sad because in the first one, he said he didnt want the capitol to change him into someone hes not and thats what they did. Peeta is a perfectly written character who is full of kindness in a world full of hatred. That ending was powerful.
Gale can't be mad at Katniss for how she's feeling. He never stepped into a position to be anything but her friend, in the film that is. I feel she loves them both in different ways. Her love Gale is a strong friendship love and her love for Peeta is deeper due to what they experienced together. Great reaction.
I agree
Katniss does love Gale, but never in a romantic way like she does for Peeta. He's just like an irreplaceable family member to her. Someone who protects her and her family. I think Katniss wants to have feelings for Gale, to make him happy and she probably believes she owes him that. However, nothing from the books or movies makes me believe she feels anything other than friendship for Gale.
Well, if she is actually 16 when the Games began, it would make sense that she's not really into a romantic relationship just yet, or ready to express it with thinking she needs to take care of her mom and Prim first. And that's what her life is at 16.
From a movie standpoint, Peeta is complicated -- "when did it turn from 'and act' to romance?'' Did it ever??? My belief is that it's not until after all is said and done and she's on her own that she truly realizes she loves him, and that started with him planting the primroses. She first had to dismiss Gale from her life - I don't think the ending happens if Gale is still in her life.
@@MoMoMyPup10 I don’t think she realized she loved Peeta until the Mockingjay movies when he was taken, but she definitely loved him in Catching Fire. It’s shown as early as the first book in the cave scene that Katniss has some sort of feelings for Peeta. She realizes that Peeta’s feelings are genuine and that makes her happy. However, she pushes these feelings aside and just kinda ignores it. So even though it was mostly an act on her part, she does have feelings for him as early as the first movie, which clearly becomes love in the second movie. She even really enjoyed their kiss and wanted another

The storyline does give you a lot of anxiety. I would like to mention that in a world like this would you want to have a boyfriend or a husband and a family, with kids knowing that you're kids might get picked to be killed. Katniss does not want that. She was only friends with Gail because of his hunting techniques. In the second movie before the tour began for Katniss and Peeta, Gail kissed her and said: I had to do that once. Meaning he never kissed her before. Peeta was the first boy she ever kissed in the games. Gail has this misconception that she wants to have kids and a family. The books are an easy read. Meaning they're not thick books. I read all three in a week and I'm a slow reader.

I read the books years ago and I usually don’t like the movies the books are always better. I watched the movies about a year ago and I still think the books are better but they did a great job with the movies. The casting is perfect. It might sound silly but I love it when Charlie Murphy pops in 😂❤

Hunger Games and Harry Potter movies are about 85-90% accuracy to the books. I understand it is hard to adapt but they did a great job. I'm looking at you Percy Jackson.

Gale had no compassion or understanding for neither Katniss nor Peeta, for what they went through together. All he cared about was his rage against the Capitol and his raging hormones 😒. Re-reading the books again, I’m reminded how much of a jerk he really could be
Yeah that is true, he should had any feelings he had to the side, he doesn’t know how it even feels to be in the games and the trauma they had to endure . There were other things to be worried about
@@Dai.Natreacts only thing to his credit though was the fact he was still a teenager himself. What teenager could really fully comprehend the full extent of what’s going on beyond his personal bubble 😞.
But when Katniss tries to help bust that bubble to help him see the bigger picture, his pride simply got in the way

The way y'all stay teasing/messing with each other while remaining fully invested in the movie is a perfect balance, and y'all's goofy chemistry with each other is so refreshing to see!! You ready to hate the Capitol even more? In Finnick's speech, he talks about being sold by the Capitol after he won his first games. In other words, President Snow forced Finnick Odair into prostitution to Capitol citizens when he was 14 years old (aka. child sex trafficking) & threatened to kill his loved ones if he refused. It could even be argued that the hyper-sexualised image & arrogant attitude he has at the start of Catching Fire is a protective mechanism.
On a similar note, the Capitol tried to pressure Johanna Mason to do the same thing & she refused, so they killed off her entire family.
I was looking to see if someone left a comment explaining this. If I remember correctly they only mentioned those two directly, but it is implied that any Victors that rich citizens of the Capitol found desirable could be forced into prostitution. Snow does this not only for political favor and money, but to control the Victors.
I also don't know if they fully realized all the implications of Finnick's speech. Finnick talks about how Snow has *repeatedly* killed his political opponents via poison, but would also ingest the poison at the same time to throw off suspension of himself. He used an antidote so it would not kill him, but it did cause the recurring bleeding sores in his mouth.
I don't support Snow in any way so I don't view anything he does as good, but I do think they are incredible examples of both "positive" and "negative" actions that Snow took against the people of the Capitol to keep control of them. Snow truly saw the big picture as he realized that he needed to control citizens of ALL of Panem, not just the Districts, to keep his power.
WTF that's terrible!!!! now we want to jump through the movie screen and assault all the people in power in the capital.

The Hunger Games takes place in North America. The Capital is located around Colorado. District 12 (Katniss' home) is around Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey, etc. There is a good amount of distance between the two.
District 13 is the New England area. District 11 is Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee area.

I stumbled upon y'all when I started to realize there were reaction channels on CZcams and I'm clearly obsessed with the hunger games and saw that y'all watched the first one so I watched it and honestly love the books way more but my obsession started in the movie because my imagination became reality and I couldn't not picture every character exactly how they were portrayed in the movie when I read the books for the second time

It depends on what way but honestly yes they portray Peeta for one alot stronger in the book I know there's more I just reread the first book for the first time in a couple years so once ai get refreshed ill update more definitely

I feel like Gale does actually “turn” kind of in the last movie. He was part of the plot to use the bombs on the children when Prim died. I think like Coin, he sort of went too far in what he was willing to do to “win.”

“Who’s Annie?” 😂😂 Ya’ll really don’t be listenin sometimes. The old lady, Mags, volunteered on behalf of Annie Cresta so that she wouldn’t be further traumatized like her prev games had done to her and so Finnick also wouldn’t ever be in a position where he’d have to fight her because she is his love. Don’t be hating on the Capital citizens too much.
1) People are quick to hate on District 1, but it's important to remember that they are victims too. each district is tortured a different way. In district 1 they are expected/required to live in opulence and excess. They know that most other districts are starving, but they are made to eat to the point of making themselves sick and pretending they are happy. When they don't fall in line they get turned into the capital and made into Avoxes (people that are tortured and then have their tongues cut out and forced into servitude) or worse...mutts. Think of Effie, woman that draw the tributes' names at the reaping. Her and the TV host...they have a job to do and that is to make these grotesque moments FEEL like entertainment or else. EVERYONE is scared, even the Presidents' own family members. The games are NOT "entertainment". The citizens of Panem are ALL terrified of their government because they know the grotesque and twisted things it does to people. They watch the games because they wanna see their people and try to support them if/when they can. Being a sponsor demands a lot of money so the sponsor gifts are rare, but people try. You have to watch the games to see what will be needed.
2) Haymitch was one of District 12's winners. He's an alcoholic because he was a winner when he was 16 and since then has been required to be the mentor of countless tributes only to see them ALL die for nearly 24 years. He’d won his Games by using the force field against the Capitol. Though it was a Capitol creation, Haymitch was able to use it to his advantage and win the Games with it. The Victors receive income from the Capitol for life, are given a special status in their districts and are allowed to live in the wealthiest part of their district called the Victors' Village with their families. Their District is given supplies of food and other things to survive, while the lone victor (except of The 74th Hunger Games since there is 2 victors) is bathed in riches. Most of them become very popular all throughout all of Panem. The Capital, however, can summon victors whenever they want and make demands on them. This is clarified in Finnick’s speech when they rescue the victors, but I don’t think ya’ll were really listening to what he said. I recommend rewatching this AND the Mockingjay movie too.

Let’s not beat up Prim💔 Also the other big thing is that the cat actually ONLY likes prim. That’s why Katniss hates the cat, and he her😂 But this also causes Prim to be reallll close with the cat.

In defense of Katniss’s mom, they gave her the job of working in district 13’s hospital and they had to go straight to the bunker from where they were. And Prim’s grown up and been through enough for both her and Katniss to know she’s capable of following orders and go to safety herself. I know her mom should have been more attentive and concerned once she finally got down there but district 13’s already proven to be overly strict and demanding.

The book explains so much more than The films could. You get so much more insight into Katniss' thinking & motivations. The chapters are really short and each one ends with a little cliffhanger. That makes it SO hard to put down. It's a really quick read. You'll finish the books in no time.

3:33 District 12 is in the north east section America, and district 13 is a little bit above that in Canada are so you don’t need takes maybe 30 minutes by hovercraft to get from 13 to 12

I believe if I remember correctly each district gets further away from capitol 1-13. Thats why districts 1 and 2 are treated more like lower middle class by the capitol

Can't believe how harsh you were on Prim for going back for Buttercup. She is around 13... her home and friends were destroyed by the capitol... she lost basically everything but katniss and her mom... so getting her cat back was immensely important... just a little positive in the whole mess... going back for the cat during the bombing of 13 is understandable and no reason to hate on her. Not sure if you two have any pets, but they are family members... it really showed how caring Prim was and tgat she would endanger herself to rescue him...

Because they’re really good haha. 40:07 I believe Phillip Seymour Hoffman had filmed some scenes for the 2nd film before his death. There is some CGI used to have him in some parts of the 2nd but mostly anything his character Plutarch was supposed to do is passed over to Haymitch or another character. Such an unfortunate situation, he was a very talented actor and good in everything he was in. May he Rest in Peace. Really looking forward to your reaction to the conclusion of this series, it’s intense! And also just realized you guys have been watching The Last of Us and can’t wait to see how you like it. Her father told Gail to take care of the family. He is really the only one she knew well. Peta's family didn't want him to associate with the " lower" class
That's NOT true. Peeta's father had LOVED Katniss's mother, but she fell in love and got married to Katniss's father.
Even though it was considered illegal, Peeta's father would still sometimes buy what Katniss hunted.
Gale and Katniss never were quite a couple before she left the first time, but there were feelings. Then she was in a life or death situation with Peeta and bonded. I could go either way on whom she should be with, even now, after having watched the movies (and prior to that, reading the books).
