    Tip. Do not tighten those bolts until all the weight of the truck it on them it can cause premature wear on the bushings and they aren't in the proper position they are normally when on the ground

    Nice, clean 1988! I had a 89 black Silverado for about 10 years that I miss a lot. I like the nose down rake so used 2" shackles in the rear and 2" drop Springs in the front (maintained factory alignment). American Racing Torq Thrust I I wheels (retirement present to myself). Stainless cat-back system. 350 v8 with ceramic coated Edelbrock Tri-Y headers. Matching Lear topper with dark smoked glass. Wish I had kept it, but good memories.
    Fair winds and following seas to all.

    Very good video. I bought my one owner SWB 112K mile 1998 Chevy C1500 W/T a couple of weeks ago. One of my first upgrades is to get the back of the truck level with the front. I bought the same shackles that you have. I was concerned about getting the top bolt out, but your plan was a good one. My truck may be a little more complicated as mine has a receiver hitch in the way. I will leave the bolts snug ( not tight) until the truck is on the ground and then tighten just a tad more. Did you have to get the truck frontend aligned again?

    You should mention that the bed frame needs to be lifted from under as well, otherwise leaf spring tension WILL chop your fingers right off and or dent frame. The video paused for a second, then you came back and removed bolt with ease. Assuming you did lifted the bed frame. Smh.

    • @matthew1er
      @matthew1er  Před 3 lety +1

      Jay Val All you have to do is use the floor jack and lift the rear end up or lower it to the sweet spot where the bolt will just pull right out. That’s what I did but it took me a while to find the sweet spot that’s why I paused it and then continued once I found the spot.

    • @ajs.m929
      @ajs.m929 Před 3 lety +2

      @@matthew1er That's exactly what I just said. I meant you should have recorded it in n the video because most people won't know this, would attend to remove it and get hurt in the process. I know you're trying to do good but the safety of others are the key. ;) keep it up man, thumbs up

  • @bradpierce8538
    @bradpierce8538 Před 6 měsíci

    Jacks backing up jack stands is overkill for me but definitely doesn’t hurt anything. The Jack under the rear end is back up for the Jack stands as it will support the weight if the stands fail but again, nothing wrong with extra safety..
