  • We take a great SS454 Chevrolet truck and make it even better with Ridetech's new coilover lowering performance suspension system -- in a few hours. Handling and ride quality are light years ahead of stock or anything else on the market. Ride height is fully adjustable. This kit uses rear C-notches and an innovative wishbone-link rear suspension and all-new upper and lower tubular A-Arms. A larger front sway bar and delrin bushings are also included with the system to compliment Ridetech's precision adjustable coilover shocks. An air ride version is available, as well. Fine-tune the shocks to your driving style. The shocks are so good that they carry a 1,000,001 mile warranty. Learn more: www.ridetech.com/applications...
    - Wheels: American Racing VN507 Rodder
    Front: 18"x8" - 4.5" backspacing (0 offset), Rear: 18"x9.5" - 5.25" backspacing (0 offset).
    - Truck: 1990 Chevrolet C1500 454SS provided by Classic Car Liquidators
NOTE: This system replaces every part of your truck's existing suspension. Leaf springs are replaced with link-type suspension. In the front, high-performance A-Arms and spindles are replaced with components that revise front suspension geometry. Aluminum monotube shock absorbers are vastly superior to stock-type twin-tube parts.

Thanks for looking. Note that this is a full conversion system that replaces all suspension components. That results in a higher price tag but handles like a modern sports car and is fully adjustable. We also offer a more affordable system called StreetGRIP that retains the leaf spring and OE control arm arrangement. Click HERE: www.ridetech.com/applications/trucks/1988-1998-gm-c1500-suspension/

@@muffpipe84 This isn't just a vanilla flipped diff kit though is it? It's a complete package. Sway bars front and rear with bushings and hardware, upper and lower control arms, with upper and lower ball joints, 2" lower spindles, coil over shocks with adjustable bound and rebound, camber bolts, and coil springs with locating collars up top in the front and lower mounts in the rear. Rear double wishbone with a stronger c notch and links. Plus much more. I bet the coilover/shock setup means this trucks axles won't slap the frame in a hurry and the sway bars will also make it less prone in the corners. Plus you are forgetting this is all adjustable. I have a 4/6 by the 'other' reputable company with their 'street performance' shocks all round and my truck hits the bumpstops like no tomorrow. This is a completely tunable suspension setup. Easy 6k worth.

@@muffpipe84 No I didn't miss anything, you were whining on about a stupid c notch and completely missing the whole point of this upgrade. This is a complete kit. Front and rear, with adjustable everything. It is a performance upgrade made to make the truck handle. Who the heck puts a rear wishbone suspension upgrade with adjustable ride height, bound and rebound, on a leaf sprung solid axle truck, and wants to "lay frame"? You're a cabbage, crawl back under your rock and go smash your mustang into some curbs, you obviously haven't got a clue! NOBODY IS ARGUING THAT 6K IS A LOT OF MONEY. I am trying to explain to doofus and now yourself, what the 6k gets you, and why the notch isn't large. It is a performance upgrade made to make the truck handle like it is on rails. There is a massive amount of product included in this setup, and a lot of research and development has been put to it. That is why the price is up there. If you just want to lower your truck a bit there is other options, Ridetech also do a cheaper 4/6 drop. Honestly please go spend $300 "cash" on shocks and bushings, and let the air out of your tires, and post back how well your stock c1500 handles.

As cool as this is I find it hard to spend $6k on suspension for my 91 GMC C1500 stepside. I just repainted it last summer but it's only worth about $3000. I want to lower it 4/6 and upgrade the wheels next but this kit is awesome. I can't spend more than $1000 on a drop kit or else it's just not financially sound. I mean modifying trucks is obviously not financially sound but if this kit was $2500 it would be a lot more tempting.

Thank you for your feedback. Note that this is a full conversion system that replaces all suspension components. That results in a higher price tag. We offer a more affordable system that retains the leaf spring and OE control arm arrangement. Click HERE: www.ridetech.com/applications/trucks/1988-1998-gm-c1500-suspension/

@@charleshenson4183 well, this kit is made for the guys who really want to make the truck handle. The guy who is going to beat on the truck & need it to really stick in the turns. It’s not for the guy who wants to modify the looks & cruise it through town or take it to a car show. Really not that unreasonable when you consider you can easily spend $6k on engine performance parts. It just depends what you want to do with the truck.

Little Shop MFG disc brake swap. I have it on mine and it's awesome.
Don't under-estimate the single piston D154R and D52 calipers from Wilwood. They're 2.5 inches in diameter! That's a lot of force in a very compact and simple package, plus they're omni calipers. There's no left or right caliper.
--The drum brakes weren't bad, but when you go back there to work on your car, the drum stuff is really cumbersome.
-- The other advantage of discs is that it's easier to have two calipers per wheel, so you can have an E-brake handle and normal 4-wheel discs without complicating the hydraulic system.
-- Another advantage of rear discs on a 10 bolt is the caliper may hold the wheel on if you break the axle.
