The ending of Punch Out is pretty sad to see. All of that hard work for Mac to finally retire and set his place in a museum, and Doc congratulating him one last time before leaving. Its just a tear jerker

My favourite moment of Doc comes from the Wii game. In the first match against Great Tiger between rounds there's a chance he'll teleport Doc onto his corner and himself behind Mac, to which Doc reacts with: "Where am I? I can't even find my chocolate bar! I must be in the wrong corner."

Is it me or every time mac punches Doc's chocolate and says "No!" I always feel bad for him just the way he sounds it gives me sadness :(

I read one of the Punch Out comics back in the day and before Doc started training him, Mac was actually a really bad boxer. He even lost to Glass Joe in the past. But Doc believed in Mac and decided to train him.
And we see that later, Little Mac would become the world boxing champion. Doc is a damn good boxer and trainer.

Gonna be so for real; this ending has always made me cry, especially as someone who never had Doc Louis' Punch Out (the wii shop was closed by the time I got my punch-out copy) so after finishing ALL the punch out games. |Arcade included| it felt like the game was giving me a bittersweet hug goodbye.

Little Mac decided to do a last stand and wanted to retire after his third loss. Basically Doc is reminiscing over his glory days with Mac since presumably no longer having a prodigy to coach gave less purpose to him.

I like to think that Little Mac retired so he could finish high school. He's 17, he'd be a senior or even a junior! Maybe he just wanted to be a kid for a while longer before having to tackle adulthood. Or he's got homework to catch up on 😆
