I personally prefer the hippo sounds. He lives in a place called hippo island so I like to think he’s the only human and he’s surrounded by hippos. And you can’t exactly learn English as a baby if every single creature around you is an animal

King hippo is a lot Smarter than we give credit for. He found out his weakness and tried to hide it.

It’s a shame this video is only five minutes long, we need more punch out
I kinda want him in Smash Bros. He could be a heavyweight fighter that is very VERY difficult to launch. As well as being immune to attacks on a special stomach hitbox thanks to his manhole cover that can be removed for the rest of the stock. He also has a psuedo-stamina mechanic that when it reached 0, the king is down.
Of course like Little Mac, King Hippo has shit recovery and almost no air game. He basically acts like a bigger heavier Little Mac with unique mechanics exclusive to him.
He is one of Punch Out's most iconic characters. He even appeared in "Captain N: The Game Master!"
Honestly he'd prolly be like an Echo fighter for K.Rool in a lot of aspects, even that random boxing glove he pulls outta nowhere

But that can be a "translation" and KH is just making his classic hippo noises and they're just translated

Interestingly, King Hippo is the only opponent in the NES version to not have a palette swap with another fighter. Also, he’s the only one who cannot be TKO’d.

That's true. Bear Hugger was meant to be in the NES Punchout, but due to graphics limitations, was replaced with the similarly built King Hippo.

There is another fight against King Hippo in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, and Punch Out featuring Mr. Dream of course the way to fight him is by entering the code for Another world Circuit, that code is 135 792 4680 but on the last number you have to Press the A, B, and select buttons at the same time for the code to work.
I actually played this game before without knowing it because that was like three years ago and I had flashbacks about it

I remember seeing a boxing ring in the character menu and picking some yellow hair guy that had no shirt and maybe red boxing gloves, super cocky. Yup. Promotional commercials for the Wii game had King Hippo beating Little Mac in a rematch a couple of years after Punchout. Between the NES and Wii games, King Hippo started his own business selling blenders.
