Doug, Congratulations you are the winner. Send me an email to switz@mindspring.com with your mailing address and I will get the blade and a few other goodies shipped out.
I've never used Graff brand, but I have a diamond cutoff disc (ryobi I think), and I am very happy with it. It does cut a little slower than an abrasive disk, but I've used it a fair amount, and it still cuts like it's brand new. I also feel that it is much safer to use because the diamond coated edge is wider than the rest of the blade, so it doesn't pinch the blade and catch like abrasives can sometimes. I think the steel disc is also less likely to shatter, and I've always been afraid of one of them shattering on me ever since I saw a pic of one stuck in somebody's forehead.
Good point, I didn't think about it being safer but I bet it is. I always wear a face shield and glasses when using a cutting disk on a grinder. Call it paranoid but I like my vision as it is.
You're awesome, I'm subscribed and love your videos! Share your treasure trove of metalworking knowledge to all those I found interested as well! Keep on keepin' on.
Yes I would like to win that diamond blade and I would also like to say thank you John for all the great video content that you put out Full of step-by-step information. you have taught me so much
This is perfect the tool supply salesman was by and has been wanting me too buy one of these ! I can watch u John and get a real good idea if I want them in my shop!
that's cool I used to use metal diamond cut metal discs when I was working in machine shop I've never seen one for a angle grinder like that the ones we used were huge 24 inch or bigger
yes i would like a diamond blade . thanks for this channel . The hazard of ingesting the cutting disc is also eliminated while cutting and sweeping later .Safer for lungs
Hi John. Thanks for showing us these new blades in the line-up they offer. I had recently bought the 'Speed-Cutter', for cutting/carving wood. GREAT!!! 3 Hardened metal inserts chewed through a stone infested tree stump I had like a hot knife through butter. GRAFF is from the Ukraine, as is Devilforge. Been alot of good products coming from east europe (Formerly UdSSR) recently. Keep up the great work, John. love each and every video. Appreciate you, sir!! Regards
Yes I’d love the Diamond cutting disc in my shop I seem to blow through the abrasive blades like crazy and this would be absolutely amazing also would be proud to have a black bear forge sticker in my shop! If it’s not a problem I would prefer to have that 4 1/2 that you used but if not that’s totally fine.
Yes I would like to win the blade. That was a good comparison of the two types of cut off blades. I really enjoyed the part about the cast iron lid lifter too will also check out their website too. Thanks for sharing with us John
Yes I would like a blade, l really like the fact that you don't get all the grit dust. I realize that it's not as fast but if you're not always changing the blade ,it would make up some of the time back. Looking forward to the hook of the week
Very neat lid lifter! I hadn't seen that style before. Gary Huston just did a review of the Graff blades and had much the same thoughts as you. Seems like a good product to keep in mind, and I really appreciate how little dust they generate as compared to the standard abrasive disks. Yea, they're slower and don't make as pretty a cut, but if you don't throw out as much dust and don't have to worry about them snapping and throwing shrapnel, that seems like a very good trade-off.
I hope you can find time to make one of the lid lifters. Would love to see other ideas on how to make one. Hope you get some good use from everything either way. Thanks for your videos, Steve
I work road construction and keep both kinds of blades in the truck I love my diamond blades for small cuts and cutting PVC and fiberglass but when I gotta cut rebar or bolts and other heavy things abrasive blades is how I go
Yes, I would like to win the blade, or something like that :) Thanks for all of your incredibly educational and enjoyable content! I am just getting into the world of blacksmithing and I really appreciate what you have to say and also show!
Well, I am an old fart and an old carpenter.. we take to change very very slowly so the blade would be of no real interest.. on the other hand the stickers would be of great interest to me.. I would like a few for my truck and my shop.. if you feel so inclined... at any rate I really enjoy your videos.. you are so good and make thing seem so easy.. If I had room in my shop for a forge I think I would try my hand at it.. I did pick up a small anvil as you said I would in one of our earlier exchanges.. it is a handy thing to have.. I wish I had done this earlier.. Maybe I should move to colorado (I used to live in aurora back in the 50's) I have always loved that state.. Well my friend carry on, besafe and thanks for all of your hard work doing this for us..I am sure we and I appreciate it all..
Yes I would love the blade

@@BlackBearForge man I never win anything this morning s great. Thank you so much for for what you do and thank you for the opportunity to win that.
While it's undeniably slower at cutting it's easily argued that the longer life time makes it so much more valuable.
It's safer to use too.
Yes I'd like a chance to win the blade.

Yes, I would like to win the blade. I also agree it was slower, but the durability and less sparks will outweigh the need for speed.
Would like to see another side by side after each blade has made 50 cuts. Thanks for sharing John.
