Jake is wise, but he’s also the reason that wisdom and intelligence are two different stats.

Bro called Jake a dumbass
So true
This should be a quote
😂😂😂
You forgot the best one:
"The shapes are always changing. Changing is their normal state, like us. Even if we're not changing on the outside, we're changing on the inside constantly. There's some stuff about me that I've been ignoring for a long time. I'm afraid of that stuff. But it's part of who I am. As long as I know the shape of my soul, I'll be alright."
That's my favorite quote in the entire show. Possibly in life.
been rewatching the show recently, and i can't explain why, but rereading this quote makes me want to tear up and cry in a good way
which episode was this from?
@@BegonBepreef i forget, but having rewatched the show recently, i think it's in either the last or second-to-last season
@@honkandursun9402 thankss!
@@BegonBepreef dont remember the show's name, but it's about Jake visiting Jermaine for the sudden change of his drawing style (from landscape to abstract)
I once saw one interview where Pen described Jake as "one dog that gives terrible advice" . And, indeed, Jake can be really stupid sometimes. That's part of the joke, besides the humanization Jake, in the end of the day, still a dog. He has a short attention span, is always interested in food and has no goals or agenda, besides amusing himself. And that's the brilliant part of it. For having such low standards and simple mindset, Jake involuntarily becomes zen, dropping periodically some truths about pain, struggle, love and, mostly important, how in the big picture all those things do not matter that much. While Jake's intentions sometimes can be dubious, or just straight up selfish, his wisdom comes from his simple mind. Perhaps Diogenes was right. Living like a dog can be a virtue.
This is the best description of Jake I have ever read

No wonder he made it to 50 after he died.
You summed it up perfectly
This a goated comment
Jake getting so many opportunities for cosmic power and denying it for sandwiches is honestly a way I'd wanna live my life. It also reflects a silent character development, in that he doesn't need control to be happy.
All of that while farmworld's mushroom bomb goes off
Well, he actually have the potencial to be the strongest character in this show, but he's just a Jake, and we are happy for that

He reached nirvana in the afterlife if you've watch "Distant Lands" on HBO Max. I think he's definitely a kind and caring spirit as well as being a self aware and insightful friend. Not the most perfect in terms of a perfect role model in the beginning but definitely loyal and fun to be with esp. for Finn. That’s what’s hilarious. Everything that Jake told Finn about letting things go is false wisdom since Jake caves to his whims instantly, but Finn still takes him seriously. 😂
@@zeejonesy Honestly that's why it felt wrong for Jake to go to the 50th deadworld, he's always been driven almost entirely by worldly desires which is literally the opposite of how nirvana is supposed to work
@user-pt1re4qp1r In one way yeah, but he also is completely ok giving it all up when death is involved. If not for Finn, he would have let himself die in that one space ep without a second thought.
Adventure time is timeless for the same reason Spongebob is timeless. When I was 13 watching this show, I was Finn. Now that I’m 23 watching this show, I’m Jake. Much like Spongebob, the show is a portrayal of your adult self coaching your young self through life, which is why it will never be beaten.
the echoing fart scene had me on the ground crying as a kid and here i am years later still laughing uncontrollably at it
He thought it would be funny
It's arguably the best comedic timing a fart joke has ever had. Come to think of it, almost all the fart gags in this show were fantastic. Another that comes to mind is the random pocket gag from the earlier seasons. Jake is absent through the whole episode until Marceline asks Finn about his shirt pocket. Then it's revealed Jake was in there the whole time as he casually rolls over and toots.
I mean it's in the echo. A fart by itself is okay comedic value, but the echo it makes in a deafeningly silent cave system is too much to handle. Absolutely hilarious, whimsical even
farts with echoes are still funny evident by memes today
Still laugh at it to this day

See these clips are a prime example of why jake automatically got into the 50th dead floor. He was already content with life and very much a go with the moment kinda dude. So he found peace and tranquility before death and once death arose on him he was just that. Peace and tranquillity. Once jake realized what the 50th dead floor was he went and got reincarnated with his best friend just so he can do it all again because he enjoys life for what it is. All the small things. I grew up watching shows like adventure time, regular show, teen titans, Ben 10 all the classics and it really help mold me into the adult I am now. Jake understands that variety is the spice of life. There is no happiness without suffering, no life without death. Nothing *means* anything unless it's contrasted by something else. If the only color we saw was red, everything would be red and we wouldn't be able to walk around. It's the other colors that give objects meaning, and it lets us walk around. Same thing for stuff like happiness. You couldn't just be happy all the time, that would be a meaningless existence. You *need* struggle to make the happy times actually significant.
Jake saying "I am in control" then having an immediate mental breakdown is one of the most relatable things in adventure time

And then later in that same episode you can see him drinking from it, implying he went outside to retrieve it because he does still care about it.
The idea being, yes it is a nice cup, and he did go out and retrieve it because it's his favorite. But if it really just broke, or got stolen, that's tough man. It's just a cup.

jake is the dumbest genius we all love
Jake was one of the best characters ever created. He was the dad, the best friend, the wingman, the joker, the support system, the chef and the mystery.
One time I had a dream of Jake and we were at beach. He emerged from the ocean and told me "If you can't find the spoon, you be the spoon."I woke up confused and asked everyone around me what it means, no one can give me a solid answer. That was like 7 years ago and I still wonders what does it actually mean.
Edit:
Years and months past, I decided I want to be the spoon.
Something tells me there's something valuable about being my own spoon. Finding the right spoon is okay, it takes patience and all that but I would love to make my spoon from scratch, make a new spoon with my own hand, hard work, blood, sweat and tears. It might not be the perfect spoon but it holds value to me and me only.
Haha, probably wouldn't make sense but this is what I've came to.
I'm grateful I get to read others interpretation. Thank you all.
If you can’t find love or success, then be that love and success. Work on yourself until your the best damn spoon you can be.
That's an hilarious dream. Now seriously though, you need to ask yourself what is the meaning of this, because you are the one to choose what it means. It only has a meaning (in your reality) if it means something to YOU. So don't go look for answers from others, go and slowly develop your own answer.
I recommend writing down dreams often and considering the context of the whole dream and your life events in the three days before the dream occurred. I find that most of my dreams are an allegory of recent events or important lasting feelings I have about life-altering events from long ago. A spoon is a utensil, which is to say it is a useful tool. Short of cupping your hands together tightly, you cannot replace a spoon with yourself, which seems to imply that becoming the spoon isn't going to be easy and ideal. It sounds to me like a choice in desperation, but a reminder that you must always try before giving up.
You need to create your own happiness instead of looking for it elsewhere
If you feel lonely, find contentment within yourself and learn to appreciate yourself for who you are, 'cause, you're kinda cool. That's what I get from it.
"Hats off to you, sir or madame, your trap was a success" made me laugh so hard
Jake always dropped the deepest bits of existential wisdom when you never asked him to.
