As someone who never actually watched gumball I... would have NEVER expected this. Just from the style you can tell it's really chaotic and weird but it actually turns out to be good and genuinely funny. And also, I mean, the HUGE amount of self-awareness and knowledge of Internet media this show has is amazing. I always expected cartoons of kinda the same age as gumball to not risk too much and just avoid talking about Internet stuff, also the humor doesn't feel like one you would find in a cartoon but at the same time it feels like it. I am impressed and positively shocked that I would watch an entire series of this even though I'm not a kid anymore
As an older guy, now at 27, I missed this - my era was Samurai Jack, Courage, Ed Edd n Eddy and all those classics. But this... this is actually pretty fuckin' good, I'll admit. I saw most new kids shows and they're either disney live action cringe or cartoons that try way too hard to make zoomer humour jokes. This one does the latter but pulls it off well.
Right?! Its a gem, actual effort is put into it. All the different styles etc as well. Just because its intended for kids doesnt mean it has to be so fucking bad only kids can enjoy it. Which sadly even when i was a kid was the case most of the time.
Fun fact: In the italian version of the show all the characters change their va often. Especially gumball which changes 4 va in the first 2 season. The last one, "Mirko Fabbreschi" has dubbes him from season 2 to the end. Also darwin changes 2 va, mainly because the first had a very childish voice.
