    I am dealing with protein overload so I need to find products that are protein free. The Camille rose Moisture Milk has rice milk or something in it, so how is this protein free if that is basically containing protein? Most people said they developed protein overload just by using rice milk/water and of course that is protein

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Tatiana! I would say speak to a professional about your hair and whether or not you have protein overload. As for as the Moisture Milk, I contacted Camille Rose personally and they stated that the milk was protein free. Rice milk does not contain enough protein to even register and then it is low down on the ingredients list, too, so it should not bother anyone who has protein issues. If you still don't feel comfortable using it after researching rice milk, then I would say don't use it. Do what you feel is best for your hair. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for sharing this list of leave-ins. I have a random question. How often would it be okay to add honey to your hair? The reason I ask is because some of the leave-ins you mentioned has honey in it. I know honey is a great humectant....but I've really been hesitant about it because I know it can lighten your hair (which I don't want). Can you please tell me how often one can use a product with honey in it without the possibility of it making it lighter? I would greatly appreciate any advice you could share! Thank you in advance and I hope to hear from you soon.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  Před 4 lety +2

      Honey added in products from the store, shouldn't lighten your hair unless it's specifically made to lighten. Honey does produce a type of peroxide, but it has to be at a certain PH level, as well as, be mixed with other things to help it to lighten your hair. There's a whole lot of factors that go into it. I AM NOT AN EXPERT, but I do know that unless it is marketed as a hair lightener, then most natural hair products won't lighten your hair. The honey is in there to help moisturize, not lighten, so you should be okay.

    Thank you for making this video! Although, I'm still kind of stuck and confused. I don't know if I have protein overload, moisture overload, need moisture, or need protein. I did the big chop on April 21 so now I have a twa. I don't know what my twa needs though. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure it out. The products that I usually use in my hair are Shea Moisture's Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo and conditioner along with the Mielle Organics Avocado daily moisturizer hair milk but I currently (very recently) am switching to Shea Moisture Low-Porosity Protein-Free Shampoo along with the Shea Moisture Curl and Shine conditioner and the Mielle Organics Protein-Free Mongongo oil conditioner which I use as a deep conditioner (I still use the Mielle Organic Avocado hair milk as a daily moisturizer). I switched products and most of them are protein-free because I was afraid that the reason why my hair is the way it is was because of protein and that I needed moisture, but now I'm really confused. I wash my hair once a week and have only used the new products once so far but I haven't used the shampoo yet though (because I ordered these off of Amazon and the shampoo didn't arrive yet so I replaced it with the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo as a substitute haha). My twa has kind of been crunchy when dry, soft when wet, it has this strange almost (I think) frizz but it's like some hair sticking up straight. It stays like that when my hair is wet and dry. My twa is gets dry and kind of crunchy hours after moisturizing it with Mielle Organic Avocado hair milk that I use everyday. I also want to mention that I sleep with a satin head wrap at night. Does anyone know what I need and what is wrong with my hair? Here's a list of the products I use and my symptoms:
    PRODUCTS I USE IN MY HAIR
    -Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo
    -Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Conditioner
    -Mielle Organics Avocado Hair Milk
    NEW HAIR PRODUCTS I RECENTLY BOUGHT
    -Shea Moisture Low Porosity Protein-Free Shampoo
    -Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl and Shine Conditioner
    -Mielle Organics Protein-Free Hydrating Mongongo Oil Condtioner
    -Mielle Organics Avocado Hair Milk
    (I've only used these new products once so far though)
    SYMPTOMS
    -Hair feels kind of crunchy when dry, even hours after moisturizing with Mielle Organics Avocado Hair Milk
    - Is soft when wet though
    -Has that strange type of frizz like thing/ some hair always sticking up straight when wet and dry
    -I'm not sure if I should include this one but my twa curls aren't very defined either
    Thank you so much for reading this whole thing! If anyone has any advice, tips, or ideas please let me know. Have an amazing day! :)

      @NaturalRaeRae  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Angel! Sorry you're confused about your hair. However, it is going to be difficult for anyone to pinpoint exactly what is going on with your hair without knowing your hair. You know it better than any of us. What I will say is that protein overload will feel dry and brittle and moisture overload will feel more mushy. It sounds like you shampoo, condition, and put on a milk for moisture. If I was a betting person, I would say that your hair is just not retaining moisture. When I had a twa, I had pieces of hair that stood straight as well until my hair started to retain moisture and my curl pattern started to come in. What I would suggest, is that you clarify your hair to make sure there is no build up. Then deep condition with heat. After that do the LOC method to seal in moisture. That means to put in a leave-in, top it with an oil and then add a cream. Or you can do the LCO, which is leave-in, cream and then an oil to lock it all in. You can top with a gel if you want to hold your curl pattern in place. I would only clarify to get this process started, and then from here on out, I would use a cleansing cowash every other week and a moisturizing shampoo without sulfates the opposing weeks to cleanse with to help your hair start to retain moisture. Once you start to learn what works for your hair, if you decide you want to only shampoo and not cowash, then do that. But I would not shampoo every week if my hair was really dry, I would implement cleansing conditioners into my routine. I hope this helps. But know that it takes time for our hair to come into its curl pattern and to start to retain moisture; it doesn't happen overnight. It's only been 3 months since you big chopped, give it a little more time. Patience is the key.

    • @NaturalRaeRae
      @NaturalRaeRae  Před 4 lety +1

      Also, it wouldn't hurt to add water to your hair during the week as well to help keep it moisturized. I wet my hair everyday when I had a twa, or at the very least misted it with water and/or a refresher spray.

      I know I'm late but it sounds like you have protein overload. I'm only assuming that because all of those products you mentioned (except the protein-free ones) have protein in them and you said that your hair gets dry and crunchy hours after moisturizing it with the hair milk, which also has protein in it. Sometimes on the ingredients list, it will say:
      -Amino Acid
      -Silk Protein
      -Hydroloyzed Wheat Protein
      -Hydroloyzed Quinoa
      -Hydrolyzed Rice Protein
      -Hydroloyzed Keratin
      -Keratin
      -Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
      -Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol
      along with several others. I only just found out about this info last week after watching this video:
      czcams.com/video/pvhqpdPzSx8/video.html only to realize that all of my hair products have protein in them, which why my hair never stayed smooth and felt brittle for so long. Hope this helps. 😊
