I have low porosity hair and steaming my hair as part of my deep conditioning regimen is an absolute MUST! Without steaming, the product just doesn't penetrate and no matter how long I let it sit on my hair, it does just that....sits ON TOP of my hair. It barely gets through the hair shaft. I've gone through about 3 steamers over the years and at this point, I refuse to buy another one because they're pricey so I recently invested in a steam cap that I got on Amazon for around $30. I also bought a travel steamer. Although it's intended for clothes, it works just fine when I use it on my hair, just be careful not to burn yourself.

I thought about steaming my hair also, but I found an even better way for me. While still in the shower after 1) washing, 2) conditioning my hair, I then put a deep conditioner on my hair and place a deep conditioning cap to trap the moisture and then leave on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse out.

Thank you for this! 🙌🏾 One piece of advice for low porosity hair is to deep condition with heat and alternate at least once a month with a protein based conditioner so your hair will be balanced. Low porosity hair is protein sensitive but a little protein is still needed to avoid moisture overload and mushy hair. Hope this helps! ✨👌🏾

To the community. My hair has a million and one textures. However, the porosity is consistent throughout. What has helped has been treating the porosity and the most susceptible texture prone to moisture loss. I also have psoriasis, and acne, and all of that affects my hair. Slowly; but surely I am getting the hang of it. Don't feel bad if you have not yet, I will be 44 in a few months, and I am now. This is great information. I am more of a diy person. I have recently mix rose water, aloe Vera juice, distilled water glycerin, avocado oil for a moisturizer and am over the moon about the results for my LP. Do you have any recommendations for a diy moisturizer for HP. Thanks in advance.

My advice to people with low porosity hair. Is moisturizing is important with light oils , Like grape seed oil, jojoba oil and steamers. Once I found that out because my hair is also 3a-3b fine and thin. Thats what works for me.

Yeah, I don't think my hair really like glycerin, I also have mixed porosities.
You've taught me so much about my curls from a science perspective, which is my favorite way to learn why things work the way they do.

I throughly enjoy your channel, very informative. I would love for you to do a segment with products that retain their shine after the product has dried or a segment why hair may look dull & dry. My hair is low porosity and does well with most butters, oils and gels. The results are fabulous! My hair is laid to the 9's but once it dries, my hair looks dull & dry. I like the "wet look". Anyone can comment, please & thanks.

My lo-po advice is to switch the way you use a product if you don't get results the first time.
Eg. The TGIN leave-in works so much better when I mix it with water. I absolutely love it
My moisturizer TGIN hair milk works better when my hair is almost dry.
My deep conditioner works best on soaking wet hair.

I am low porosity. I discovered that by opening my cuticles with warm water to get products in and closing my cuticles by using cool water to lock in moisture has helped immensely with the appearance and over all health of my hair. I get the extreme darkness and shine after doing this method on my wash days. The nice form of my curl pattern. Strength of my hair. The speed of growth. And manageability. And I must add that topping it off with a quality oil just enhances it even more. And last but not least a little goes a very long way when it comes to how much product I use in my hair. Just using very little makes a drastic difference in how my hair look and feel and grows versus adding a lot or too much which makes it look and feel dirty and dull when all the dirt in the air gets attracted to it.

I am ready for a relaxer I’ve been natural for about 2 1/2 years my hair has changed from normal porosity to low where its super dry and breaking off. It’s like I have normal on my ends now and low on my roots. I did too much of something . I have no idea so many people on and off CZcams giving advice. I am happy I found someone who can break down the porosity as well as the ingredients. Thank you!

I have one question. how long does a sealant locks the hair strands and protects anything from getting in or out? I am thinking of using a hair grease as a sealant on my low porosity dry hair and I have to moisturize my hair very often as it tends to get dry fast. I heard that nothing would go in once u put on a grease on your hair so I have a fear that my re-moisturizing reigme between my wash days would not be sucessful if I use GREASE as a moisture sealant on my wash day? What do you say? Thank you Thank you and Thank you again for your helpful videos!

Thank you. My mom and I never knew how to take care of my hair. I was taking down faux locs I left in for too long, snipped 6 inches of hair off and saw how fried my ends were. I gave up and started crying. My hair is untrained and it’s so hard to get products to work. I constantly need protein treatments. I literally broke down crying and felt my heart racing. I’m tired of the synthetic natural styles to feel presentable. I will try these products and keep my hair in mini twists. I’ll cover it up when I go to work. Maybe 6 months from now this will work 😭 🙂
