Can’t believe you’re already doing finish trim work! This does not feel like 2 years, but have watched since the beginning and am so excited for you. You live in beautiful country, and are so blessed to have family with a lumber business, and to live so close to them! My husband and I lived within a block of my MIL and also my SIL for several years, and we all have so many wonderful memories of those days.
"Inside part is the jamb. "Outside part" is the casing. if you have a bottom jamb which protrudes past the wall surface, it is the sill, and the casing under that sill is the skirt.. Just some helpful hints from a 73 year-pld carpenter!
I thought the part under the sill was the apron. Same as skirt?
Abby, I know you plan to put your tractor in one of those sheds. But please, in the meantime, put a tarp or something over it. It will age much faster unprotected as it is now. It was a big investment.
The horses are absolutely beautiful. Seeing this delivery brings the viewer back a few decades or more. I am so pumped to see that old ways have not disappeared.
Every girl should have a dad like yours!
I hope someone in your family takes over your Dad's farm one day and farms with horses as much as they can . The skill and knowledge of working with horses is something worth keeping . I think the gov. should give a farmer like your Dad and others like the old order Amish a huge tax break in order to help keep the skills alive
When your house is finished, you should send out Christmas cards with the horses in front!
You've come a long long way baby! I've been "on board "since day one! No pun intended! 😂
I have also been here since episode one. Awesome
I always wish I could go help since before episode 1!. 😊
That was such a beautiful view of your area and so glad you recognize the true beauty of it. I grew up in northern Maryland, southern Pa but left right after junior year (for Florida and now Texas and states in between). Did not go back for many years and just know if I had the realization of the beauty of the land, wild horses could not have pulled me away. The happiness was evident on your face with the window frame work! So blessed with Mom, Dad, and Jay!
What a beautiful part of our country!! God’s handiwork!!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Beautiful house with all the trees with leaves.
Abby, be cautious when staining soft wood. It will absorb the stain inconsistently, you will get blotchy essential. Use a Prestain Conditioner, it will control the obsorbtion of the stain. Follow the instructions. Good job so far!
The drone footage is so incredibly beautiful…..thank you!
Yes, so cool seeing where the farm is and then where her home is, beautiful countryside!
Abby, you must feel an incredible sense of satisfaction seeing how far you have come!!! 🥰🙏🎶❤️🎶🙏📚🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
abby you have excellent taste in drone capturing horse walk music. it was a mood. loved it.
Love seeing the horses like the old days. So beautiful xx
I was going to comment how I wish Abby would wear shoes to protect her feet but then it dawned on me that I'm barefoot for everything I should have shoes on for.... mowing the lawn, sweeping up broken glass, walking over rocks...you get the point. Abby, wear whatever shoes you want whenever you want ❤
Two wrongs don't make a right
@@jburch1544 🤣
I grew up in the country. We went barefoot all summer long unless we wore flipflops. Still do as an adult.
@@teresahuston6650 same. I prefer to be barefoot. If I'm going to climb something, barefoot. I like my feet to touch the ground. Everything else feels awkward to me lol
@@SaidiLouiseThat's awesome! I have to laugh at my daughter because she is now into "grounding". We never knew when we were kids that there was a word for going barefoot!
Yeah! Time for the pretty part. Just a suggestion; as long as you're nailing the jamb together before inserting it, I would highly recommend staining it first. It's extremely difficult to keep the stain off the vinyl window unless you use painters tape. It would be a real time saver for sure! Great drone footage! I love your parents channel too! 💯❣️
I love it when your Dad delivers wood. Beautiful team!
Please setup some kind of table or workstation to save everyone’s back when making frames.
What about matching your window trim with your doors? I think that would be beautiful!!!
Your dad picked up his bride on the way over… so cute. Windows look great
Looks Great! You need to put a hitching post so when Dad comes with the horses he has a place to tie them!
Can we really be to the window framing? What a ride👏 YES!! The lighter stain matching your kitchen cabinets is perfect!
The window looks great and your not even finished with it! Thank your parents for supplying that beautiful lumber! And thank you Jay for alk you do for Abbey!
i have a suggestion for you. If you want to stain the Basswood the same color as the door for the cabinet. Bring the door with you to a store that has a color match machine, and it will read the color of the stain and tell you what stain you need. But understand that Basswood is whiter than Maple so you will not get an exact color match once you stain. It will be close but not exact. Another thing you can do is use the natural color stain then finish in Polyurethane and the wood will darken on its own as it ages. But Polyurethane has the tendency to add yellow to whatever you are finishing. So, if you do not want the yellow tint use Polyacrylic instead. It is water based and does not color it stays clear. Personally, i always use Polyacrylic because i hate the yellow color from the oil used in Polyurethane. The windows will look beautiful when finished.
Abby, the window trim looks terrific. The 2 year restoration is really getting close to completion. I know you've learned so much from Jay's expert carpentry and building skills. With the older structure of the 150 year old house and the challenging nooks and crannies you need to deal with in a restoration of this magnitude. You should be very pleased with your progress. Also I know how you appreciate the support of Your Mom and Dad Jim and Brenda Gordon . Along with the work from William and of course the wonderful team of horses of Bill and Baron who are part of group the equine stars of "Working Horses With Jim "
Omg! I've been watching you Reno-ing this house for two years???
I didn't realize you had SO many trees around your place. So interesting to see the view from the drone. His horses are beautiful. I will check out his channel. I love watching your channel and all you are learning to do.
I am wondering what the horses are thinking while you guys are unloading the wood. They are probably saying Glad we don't have to unload all that wood! They are such beautiful horses. Our family has always liked horses. I have a cousin that used to train horses for shows.
Sharon here... Hello e everyone, Abby, mom, dad and Jay! What an exciting day! Getting to the framework is great. Beautiful view of the country side. The horses and your dad, Jim, bringing over the wood. Looking forward to seeing ths stain you choose. ❤👍🙂
Love the horses! They are so beautiful. Abby, definitely sand and stain before putting the boards up!!
Jim drives that team and trailer like a semi truck driver, when he got into the other lane to pull into your driveway I could see the comparison. I'm a retired truck driver. Going great Abby!🙏👍👍
Abby the drone shot shows just how beautiful the area is you are living in I would never want to move away. So LUSH and green love it and enjoy your surroundings.
Abby you’re a great carpenter and designer, keep on the good works.
Your Dad should make Christmas cards and all holiday and greeting cards with the horses😊I watched the episode of Working horses with Jim when he delivered your wood 😊
The trees in the front yard are amazing, so jealous. The renovation on the house is looking great, keep going.
ABBY,
You are indeed a Foxy Lady.
Such beautiful wood for trimming out your windows. How exciting to be in these final stages of beautifying your lovely home.
Such lovely countryside it takes your breath away at this time of the year. The timber is gorgeous as is Jays carpentry skills
Beautiful countryside. How exciting to get your lumber.
Great video, the drone following your dad that was amazing .Thank you
Your Dad is awesome. And the beautiful horses too. The wood for your trim and sills is absolutely gorgeous. So exciting.
I've been curious about the expense of the whole project, of course having your Dad being able to supply lumber is a real boon! Maybe as this project nears its end a ball park of what you spent might be something you'd care to share?
Yes, your very lucky indeed. Your dad has saved you thousands of dollars with the wood. Jay’s carpentry skills are amazing as well.
Wonderful in every way Abby! Love this video! I'm a horse lover and that's how I found your channel, because I'm a longtime fan and subscriber of Working Horses With Jim! 👍
Abby, you are a very lucky gal !! What an awesome family !!
It is very beautiful! You are so blessed 🙏😇🥰
Make your trims match your front door.
I like when the drone went back from the house. It was very stimulating.
I also like the choice of the natural wood finish as opposed to painting.
I wonder how you find the guy to help you.
The drone journey was stunning!!
That's going to add so much to the room to look more finished. It will be nice to have all the frames done. Then, the floors!
I so much enjoy watching your channel plus your dad’s channel is fantastic too.
Very good parents and Jay to bring your 2 year project to completion 😊. Oh and Bill and Baron.
Another great video! Your parents are wonderful, supplying this wood and saving you lots of money. I think even Jay looks excited with things moving forward. He’s a gem! It’s looking gorgeous! 😊
I have been watching your parents and you for a couple of years now. Thanks to all of you , nice clean entertainment. I need that. I don't like listening to the president. I'm trying to figure out how people live in new york. Butt I die in Oregon and have been here for years but plan on moving soon.
Jay is awesome❤. Love the window frames❤
First I love the color on the cabinets so it should look good on the window wood
Second, I love the sound of the floor wood. I think you should put it down then you'll know what you want to do. A clearish color would be my choice
I was thinking back to when you first got the house and made the monumental decision to shift everything over 1 room--the old kitchen has become the family room, and the old bedroom has become the kitchen.
Always Love watching. Your home is beautiful , I am So Happy for You. Can’t wait till you can move in. I remember watching you & your sister put up that Christmas tree. That was so fun to watch. God’s Blessings Always
Abby you have to be so proud of yourself and and seeing your z? Dream come to light you decorative ideas are very beautiful and youve accomplished so much z?Great to see you Smile so much z?God truly has truly Blessed you😊😢😂
My hardwood is as you describe, I love the color variation. Also my wood is 3 different widths and I also really like that compared to all one width. Just an idea. The window is awesome 👌 😊
What a difference that made in the window. It will look so nice.
That went fairly fast. Woo-hoo! Really getting things done.
Looking great. Can’t wait for you to get the windows finished.
I NEED A JAY HERE IN MINNESOTA!! That looks so very nice Abby!
Abby. All I can say is how an amazing young woman you are. how blessed you are to have the kind of parents God blessed you with. I hope if there is a young man in your life,he will appreciate the gem he would have. Your property looks beautiful as well as the sky view .May God bless you in your endeavors in. Life.
Abby , Loved the drone footage the trees are enormous from above . much bigger than I had them pictured in my mind .The landscape is beautiful . loved seeing the family together "working as always " . Love how you and Jay just jump right in . Jim has a great eye for horses and knowledge to match concerning teaching it to the younger generations . Brenda is an a good mom and companion always willing to bolster family . YEAH !!!!! Dream coming True . 💙💚💜
You have great taste. Any of those stains will look great. Jay is such a craftsman!
You have the most amazing life.
Horses are beautiful
From where you started, look how comfortable you are now a days rocking the nail gun.
Such beautiful footage with the horses and the drone! Thank you for sharing. You are lucky to have such a wonderful Dad and Jay. You are doing a beautiful job!
Your dad would be a woodcarvers dream to have around. Basswood is a go to wood to carve by hand or Dremel! It's hard to get the good basswood here in the south. Your window casings are going to be beautiful.
Build the window boxes with the trim already on them like the Perkins Builders Brothers do. It make a better looking trim package.
Love seeing the team work. We had 2 teams many years ago, 1 Belgian draft team, and one Draft Mule team. So fun. My husband watches your dad channel often.
What a beautiful part of the world u live in.
Love the drone view, beautiful landscape. The little pony looks so cute. The windowsill will be spectacular. You are blessed beyond imagination. Thanks for sharing your home makeover.
Omgosh Abby!!!! Absolutely Beautiful! oh and dad forgot to use his blinker. Haha. Dad's channel is very enjoyable
Wow Abby and Jay the window looks amazing great job Jay. The house is looking so beautiful many blessings
You are very blessed with good family and friends! You said you know nothing but you have learned so much ! Your skills have improved so much from the first videos ! Jay has been a very good teacher and he also looked out for you to make sure your safe! 👍🏼
Beautiful country side! And yes, the horses and your Dad are handsome!!
The windows are going to be so pretty!! Well done team Abby & thanks Jim, Brenda, Bill & Barron!
Awesome lumber! You will have to get one of those great sheds that William is building.
I just thought of something,do you iron any of your clothes? I know it’s kinda late but it would look good with a built in ironing board!! Maybe on the other side of the window that is close to the sink! You could make a shelf for the iron and other things!! But then you would have to put a electrical plug in the wall and things are all ready done! But maybe you still could do it! I think it would look cool! Just thinking 😜
It’s really going to great when you get the windows done!
Beautiful video with tasteful music. Great job😊 you are so blessed to have all that beautiful lumber from your dad’s Mill.❤
Love the drone video....
I like the floor a little darker. Seems more grounded.
That was beautiful you're so lucky
Just a beautiful video Abby. The trim for the windows will make a huge impact on the already gorgeous home!
It is so beautiful there!
Check out my Dad's channel (Working Horses With Jim) → czcams.com/users/WorkingHorsesWithJim
Hi from Suffolk UK. How wonderful to see Punches used as working horses in the US. beautiful animals ❤
I've been subscribed to Jim's channel for a minute now, actually several months. Abby, he's pretty awesome, but he won the lottery when he managed to marry your Mom! Truth there! Your home is going to be a real blessing, I hope that you can stay there always. It's an amazing tool you have with all the documentation of how your home was renovated. You have the history all on video. Priceless, in my opinion.
That looks great! It really makes a difference.
So beautiful - thanks ❤️😁🌹
Would be easier to stain before you but in the window. After it is framed together then stain. And touch up after you nail it in.
Your dad didn’t stop at stop sign lol Jim from Canada
Beautiful drone footage
I think a maple stain on the trim and a clear coat on the floor will be very complementary to the dark wood doors and your cabinets. Needs to be rather neutral to thread that needle with all the different materials. Can't wait to see your floors. Anxious to see how the wood grain and color variation from the heartwood looks. Won't be as stark a contrast as Hickory but should look truly special. Your dad is a resource I would use clear out in the midwest if I were going to renovate something. Some of the materials (species) you have access to in NY are not native here but are really nice to work with, like your Basswood. Wonderful clear grain and can match up with anything. Your folks have to be proud of you and what you've done with that old house! I'm older than they are and I would be if you were my kid!
It's beautiful country out there, just beautiful. What kind of farm is it? I also enjoyed watching you two add the window frames and sills to the window. Now I know how people do that lol. :))))
