  • Today we install a Stillen cat back exhaust on a VR30 powered Q50 and we show you how to remove the stock exhaust on your Q50 and how this one is pieced together. We sound test the Stillen exhaust and throw it on the dyno to see how much more power it makes.

    If anyone is wondering, Stillen catback on a 2018 Q50 redsport: Improved performance doesn't exist until you hit high revs. The sound is good and at highway cruising speed (low revs) the exhaust is pretty quite.

    I attended a showing of the new Z on September 23 in San Jose California and was able to hear the engine as the Nissan rep reved the engine. That engine sounded like a sewing machine, and so this VR30DDTT engine is going to need some kind of serious exhaust mods to make it sound decent. I could see where maybe an Infiniti buyer wanting a quieter engine but I don't think that any new Z buyers will be happy with that anemic sounding engine.

What are we supposed to do with After-only numbers???? What gains were had from this Stillen exhaust???? Was planning the whole time to give a thumbs up but had to give a thumbs down at the end there. :(
    And please elaborate on the 'flash tune'. What does that mean?

    • @nonickname8292
      @nonickname8292 Před 2 lety +1

      When you open up the exhaust it usually takes away from lower RPM torque and adds it to higher rpm gains. Happens with almost everything from my experience. The exhaust has built in resistance that helps create TQ at lower rpms. Remove that resistance and the TQ goes away at lower RPM.
      Not 100% of the time but it happens.
