I ended up getting a Ruger Max 9 Pro. According to an actual Ruger engineer I spoke to, the Max 9 is literally the LC9S and EC9S with a facelift and a modern micro double stack mag. I got mine on sale for $319.99. And it came with two mags, you can't beat that. Love it, 100% reliable for me. Optics ready set up and sights are also superior.
Have carried a Ruger LC9/LC9s since 2013, current EDC is a version with Hi-Viz fiber optic sights. Excellent concealment in an Uncle Mike's #3 pocket holster, decent accuracy at close range and solid reliability. 7 rounds plus 1 in the pipe and I'm in no hurry to jump on the micro-9 bandwagon. I foresee many years of duty from my Ruger.
Just get a walther pps m2.
😀Ruger LC9S is an exceptional micro 9mm! I have Glock 43X, M&P Shield 9 Performance Center and many more in my collection. But the LC9S's construction, reliability, comfort and styling has me loving to carry it almost everyday!😊
I've carried the Lc9, an now have Lc9s also, I feel perfectly safe with either one in my pocket. But I also carry 2 mags in a mag holster in my left pocket.
@@williammccaslin8527 : well done. I carry a spare mag most times, sometimes not.
Being theoretically short on rounds, an God willing may we never need them, thats why I have a double mag holster, plus in 1 mag in the gun, an 1 in the pipe always, cause you just never know anymore, anywhere, anytime. Been to way to many places around the country, an have seen to much to not carry w/ extra mags. JIC.
👍👍Thanks Dan, I’m one of those who still likes the single stacks. I still carry my s&w original shield and my s&w ez9.
Reliable, accurate, USA made on a budget! 👍👍
I just bought this gun yesterday and I am not disappointed, seems like an excellent tool for everyday concealed carry.
Very cool man
I like single stack, carrying a double stack in the pocket is like carrying a brick and the double stack mags are like bricks in my pockets. I like double stacks, but there is a time and place and wardrobe choices for those that don't always fit the occasion...doublestacks stay home and single stacks get carried.
Love my LC9S.. carry it almost every day
That’s interesting they still make that in the world of higher capacity pocket physicals I think I’ll stick with my Ruger LCP max I can fit 12 rounds of some serious G9 external hollow points and I feel totally well armed.
Man haven't shot it in a long time thanks Dan for reminding me I still have one!
The Ruger EC9S is my wifes daily carry and she loves it. For some reason she gravitated towards the EC9S over the G26, Shield Plus, or CSX. I don't personally like shooting it as I feel it rides too high which makes the recoil on an already light gun even worse. Then again....my wife is a better shot then me with any gun so maybe I just suck haha. I'll stick with my G26/Shield Plus set-up. Happy shooting
I carry this in my right pocket with 2 extra mags in a mag holster in my left pocket, an feel very comfortable carrying, this everyday, but thats just me. But I also installed the hooked mag plates on every magazine I have, makes for a very fast draw from the pocket, an a rock solid purchase on the weapon. Thx for the vid FG
Great video on a firearm that still fills a certain nitch for some. Slim, light, & stone solid reliable. I pocket carried a EC9S for along time. A while back, I ran across an LC9S on a screamin' close-out deal. The high vis sights kicked it up a notch for these 70 year old eyeballs. 15 yards, no problem. Always enjoy your videos, thanks for the no BS, no drama content!
picking one up next week, used for a decent price! Actually sold all my popular micro compacts including the p365...Trading and selling firearms is a rabbit hole for me, so I'm going back to the basics on a budget!
Carried a Ruger LCP custom for like 6-7 years, it was my go to pocket carry. Then started watching modern ballistic tests and how ineffective a 380 ACP is for a gun that size and got rid of it. Got a 642 never looked back. Your 9mm variant is pretty good, but when you look at the new micro high capacity 9s, this Ruger is now kind of behind the times. Great video Dan.
Thanks for another great review..
Thanks, Dan. Nice review.
Great review Dan the Man. Spot on and informative. I’m happy to see CZcams didn’t turn your comments off.
I really like the LC9S PRO. No thumb safty and no magazine disconnect. Must be carried in a good holster.
Had one,(LC9Spro). After 430ish rounds the mags would fall out, refuse to load
The mag catch was getting chewed up. For about $5 I got a mag catch and spring, replaced, checked for function with 50 roundsand immediately sold it. Glad yours seems to be holding up. Not a cool thing to have happen with a ccw.
I do still have many Ruger revolvers and 10/22s. Not a fan of their semi autos. It did shoot well.
This is a very reliable, very concealable, inexpensive, carry option. I love how slim it is. Thanks for the video!👍
Great review. I think It's a very interesting pistol. Especially for It's size.
love my EC9S. its perfect for me. i'm not a big guy and i have small hands. I have the FDE frame and love that too.
👍I like RUGER. Years ago I purchased 2 of these types. LC9 & the LC9S PRO. They’ve been good for carry & light in weight. Lil snappy but we all know this.
Crazy thing… the trigger dongle aggregates my finger pad. It hits a nerve or something. IDK. Really odd. I replaced the trigger w/ I think APEX on the PRO & I’m good. Never really shoot w/ the other LC9 w/ safety. Also, got the very small LCP 380. never shot it though. Taking up some space in a safe.
*Thanks for the videos, D!
We do appreciate you sir … more than you know. 👍🇺🇸🙏God bless ya too!
I’ve had my EC9s for about 8 years. It was my first “compact” pistol after carrying a S&W 686 and a Glock 17 and 19. Those are now mostly nightstand guns now. It’s not my favorite pistol but I do like it. My EDC currently is Taurus GX4 but I still rotate the Ruger in occasionally . I wasn’t bothered about the fixed sights on the Ruger. Not a lot of precise aiming likely to be done in a close quarters situation this gun is made for anyway (I’m not saying accuracy and shot placement aren’t important). Only aftermarket upgrade I’ve done is a rubber Hogue grip sleeve. Totally changed the way the gun feels in a good way. It’s a meatier more solid grip and I think helps with recoil. I have three mags with the pinky extensions. Glad to have it in my collection.
Love the comment Andrew
👍 really like the EC9. Shoots great, durable, and very relatable.
Interesting, Have you ever shot a Sig P938? I wonder how they would compare recoil wise.... This could be a good backup to your backup! I really like the P938 Legion btw. Good video Dan. 👍
Good review. Thanks
Thanks John
I used to own BOTH the LC9 & LC380 and they were both GREAT guns for their time. I am surprised that Ruger still produces some of these old guns such as the LCP, LCP2 and I feel that they are eclipsed by the LCP 380 MAX that is a GREAT update...
Thanks!!
Aye you got my exact ankle/pocket carry gun
Tengo una y compre 3 magazines de 9 rounds. Me encanta
The basic firearm for when all you need is the basic firearm!
Good little gun, buddy of mine has one. I like size of it but I don't care much for the trigger.
Hey... great review. I just picked up one of these the other day.
Just a note: as on the Remington RM380 (which is a reboot of a Rohrbaugh design) the locking pin will "fall out" with no pushing if one just holds the gun with the left side facing toward gravity, and slightly rocking the slide back and forth with very small movements. Make sure you know where that pin is when it falls out...
Also, do you have recommendations about what to use for dots on the sights on this gun? Thanks?
Carried my LC9S everyday for 4 years IWB, Sometimes I almost forgot it was on my side because it's so slim. I still carry it during the summer while in shorts. I wish Ruger still made the Pro model.
Love my pro model, have several thousand rounds through it and dead solid reliable. Switch between it and a .38 spl LCR both quality pieces I trust 100%. The LCR has undoubtedly the best smoothest DAO trigger I have ever felt on any DA pistol from any manufacturer.
Nice Ruger.
I wouldn't mine owning one......I do have the original .380....call her "Pee Wee" I keep holstered in my back pocket all of the time...back-up. Terrible trigger, well, you just have to master it.....took a few rounds for sure, and I have to use one hand....just because of the size of hands.....enjoyed the video.....never a disappointment!
Great comment MrShifter. Thanks
Nice pocket carry pistol 💪💪😎😎
i have ec9s i do not have any problem with it......i bought 4 10 round magazine and 3 6 round magazine.....
shame Ruger doesn't make the LC9S or pro better w/options.
Why can't Ruger figure out tooless takedown like every single other manufacturer... seriously, this puts their guns in the same category as hipoint imo...their revolvers are very nice and so are a couple of their rifles, but they cannot figure out the semiauto game post p-series. They should bring back the p-series, those were sweet guns for not much money. Everything since has been downhill in my opinion.
If you put the Mcarbo Trigger Spring Kit, the trigger pull will be at 3lbs.
