What Hollywood and Disney fail to understand is that audiences, both men and women, don't actually hate female led movies.
What they hate is bad writing.

I unfortunately saw Ghostbusters 2016. What particularly offended me was how the women sexuality harassed the male secretary. This was at the height of the me too movement. I was accused of sexual harassment by someone I've never met during this time. Upon investigation she accused me because I said to someone else I was voting for Trump. I was exonerated but was told no political talk in a place of business. Only if your male apparently. Sorry for the rant.

Oh my comment was erased, probably because I posted links. Regardless, it's a good thing I take inspiration from anime and manga as opposed to wokeness. Look up the webcomic "Shining Serenity" and "SpellCaster Demon Hunter issue 1" some time. But something I neglected to remember while responding last time was not everything made to appeal to women has a female lead.
As like you said the women you know like male leads, and they're not the only ones. Which leads me to believe that what we're getting is films made for the type of women that Hollywood execs know. i.e. the pampered princess who has everything handed to her.
So you as a writer who wants appeal to women as well as men, looks like I'mma have to do this myself.

Nothing wrong with female leads. Nothing wrong with films with female leads. Everything wrong with movies that are badly written and feature unlikeable main characters. Maybe instead of sticking it to the audience, these writers should try giving us characters that would actually WANT to spend time with their audience. Maybe then, the audience would respond by, I don't know... showing up? Oh, what am I talking about. A strong female character doesn't need an audience. She doesn't need money, either. That's why these movies are so successful. Oh, wait... they're not.

It also depends who you chose to be the head of that story telling. If you chose female writers that can write for many types of audience rather than ones who actively refuse to write for anyone but people exactly like them I think you’d quickly realise that being ferociously unwelcoming to other audiences can make a story unapproachable even to the intended audience. People can sense when something is full of spite.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a Female-Led film. The problem is they are putting a Female-Led to a popular film franchise which is popular with males, like the MCU. To me, this is what happens when you let a girl in an "Treehouse All-Boys Club". For me, boys like man stuff and in their treehouse, they have comic books, action movies, spaceships, manly heroes with action figures, etc in it. And then one day, you invite a girl in. At first, she's kind of cool, she likes the same thing as the boys do. It's fine at first. And then, she invites another girl friend and more. But you later notice how they are slowly putting in things in their treehouse, like curtains, a tea set, dolls, pink stuff etc, and the next thing you know, the girls are playing tea party with the boys manly action figures. And that's when the boys walk out. They took their favorite boy treehouse and turn it into a girl treehouse with all their stuff in it and they can;t take it out. Sometimes, they come back to see when the girls gave up and go away, but sometimes, they never do. The girls mock the boys by playing their manly action figures and are like "These are girls toys now". That's how I see Disney, Star Wars and Marvel now.

Black Panther 2 was palatable cuz it was written with a male lead in mind but they had to shoehorn Shuri in because of Chadewick Boseman demise so Wakanda Forever is a female lead movie almost by accident rather than design.

There's always been great female led films (Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Disney's old "Snow White" movie), I see no issue there. I do have a problem with the propaganda surrounding some of these new movies. The men are often portrayed as incompetent, villainous or a mix of both (ex. In the original Star Wars, Luke, Han and Leia were all heroic and competent figures, while in the Last Jedi, admiral Holdo is portrayed as hyper-competent and always in the right, while Finn, Poe, Luke and Kylo are portrayed as baffoons, screw-ups or both; in the old Avengers movies, Black Widow was a worthy warrior and hero on a path to redemption, but the male Avengers were also positively portrayed and had a chance to save the day, in the new movies, the women outshine the men (ex. In Thor Ragnarok, Valkyrie is a clever and competent warrior and Hela is a formidable villain, but Thor and Hulk are also portrayed as heroic and competent, while in Love and Thunder, even though Thor saves the day, he is portrayed as an oaf and objectified and Korg is played off as a joke, while the goddess of thunder and Valkyrie are perfect - the first is a new improved Thor and the second rules Asgard)). Also, the fact that EVERY movie these days is female led leaves men without any film of which they are the target audience. When this trend started, I was for it because I see nothing wrong with the odd female led movie, but now that it's EVERY movie, it's become annoying. Personally I wish it were more or less half and half (not that there should be quotas or censorship, just that it would be nice if there was always at least one movie playing that appeals to men and one that appeals to women).

1:40 You really need to know the context around why she was saying this, firstly this was about 10 years ago, and it was in relation to honour deaths in India, where a male family member will kill his sister or daughter because she brought dishonour to the family by being raped.

It is way past time to end that out of context quote by Obaid-Chinoy. She was speaking at a conference about her documentary about the problems faced by women in Pakistan, which included "honor killings", arranged marriages to underage brides, and rapists literally being lauded for their actions. Should men be proud of the men who do these things? Or should the men who do these things be made to feel uncomfortable?

She may have been speaking in regard to different subject matter, but it does give us a peek at where her mindset is regarding men. There are women who lie, cheat, steal, murder every day. Yet you'll never hear a man in a prominent position, saying he enjoys making women uncomfortable. Criminals should be made to feel uncomfortable. Gender doesn't matter.
She's a proud Feminist, which is her Right to be so, but then she failed to specify who she wants to make uncomfortable. The individuals who committed those atrocities, or like she said, "men?"

Aside from films with an overt appeal to females (like the Barbie movie) I think there is a kind of quota on the number of females which are cast in a movie above which it is rejected by the audience. This quota is psychological in nature and mostly unconscious. Men are favored because they are more interesting to both men and women.
