Always so motivating 😊 I had a little game changer recently i highly recommended, i have 4 kids and they each now have a "fancy" drink bottle they are only allowed to use for water around the house (all matching but their own colour) and they each chose one bento plate and themed bowl they are responsible for basically if they leave anything kitchen related around i know who it belong to and honestly they are really embracing looking after their own kitchen things and making my life so much easier in just one spot in the house. Im going to try the same theory with towels next... see how we go 😆
I've done that with plates - but I just know with cups and waterbottles my teenager would defy me and deliberately "lose" hers. Having said that - I might do that with the younger three - they're a little less beligerant and defiant. lol. I also tried it with towels - the eldest just used everyone else's - even mine once... she's a nightmare to live with. lol

@@margaretsofocleous1999 Yeah - I've only had the public holidays off here. Back to work on the 27th of December and off today (1st) - but that's it. No holiday mode. Kids go back to school on the 22nd. I remember school holidays used to feel sooooo long when I was a SAHM - but now they go by so fast! The kids will go to my mum's next week to give them a break from the screens....lol

I am aiming to have a dip in the sea today . Although it's winter here it is still around 21 centigrade around midday so the sea shouldn't be too cold. Have a great afternoon with the family. @MySemiSortedLife new year treat you get everyone a new cup plate,bowl and cutlery etc and hide everything else, if it's not ready to use tuff, 😂. ❤
@@lesleyharris525 I actually did do similar recently - reduced our cutlery and crockery to essentials only - and + 1 - it's how I know what's missing and that their rooms are not tidy enough. lol

I am messier than my husband ever was. He loved to cook and had to clean the kitchen before he would start. I am not sure whether boys or girls are tidier. 😂 and when they have their own home things can really change. ❤

@@MySemiSortedLife I am hopelessly messy when I am cooking. I don't do a lot now but yesterday I cooked smoked salmon and prawn linguine with mushrooms for my friend and I. I had thankfully cleaned before we came back from our morning service so I could invite her to lunch before we went to pick her friend up from the airport. The darling girl insisted on washing the dishes and help me clean the mess I had made cooking. We had chosen lovely desserts from the bakery and I made Turkish coffee. We later watched the planes coming in over the sea as we enjoyed tea and coffee until it was time to get to the airport. I drove them home and my friend we ate a traditional Georgian meal that my fantastically organised 35 year old friend had prepared the day before. I think some people's brain are just wired differently. I seem to spend my life cleaning the messes I myself make lol

Both my son was neat and tidy until he became a teenager.. my daughter was and very messy little kid and then became a bit neater until about age 10 or 11 and now she is messy again..and leaves a nice trail through the house so I can see every where she's been in the day haha

Ah, the eternal battle of cleanliness in the family! It seems like the boys have mastered the art of neatness, while the girls have their own unique way of organizing things. Who needs clean rooms anyway, right?
Yes~ My two teenage daughters rooms look like earthquake hit, unlike their older brother, he is super clean, bed made daily, his laundry put away.. My mother adivce? What bedrooms doors are for, shut move on..lol... But all there are great at keeping the rest house picked up & clean.

You sound like you live a life similar to mine, although I have two children (both ND) and not four. I work in a social services field as well, in an Australia-first team (more than happy to speak privately to you about this but it’s really special, all while respecting your boundaries). I work in a hybrid model as well, office two days a week and home three days a week. Although I don’t work in a crisis service anymore, the nature of my role in my work can often lead to a crisis response. Sometimes this can lead to some very late hours (much to the concern of my manager who is worried about wellbeing of the staff with the nature of our work, I’m sure you’ll understand). I’ve recently moved to a house where I’m not feeling completely overwhelmed. It’s a bit bigger, there’s room for our possessions and there were other issues I couldn’t keep on top of, so I’m hoping this will be a big, positive change for us.

In relation to your spending habits, are you aiming to do anything different this year in 2024 to minimise spending? This is an area for me too to focus on. Ive decided im going to do groceries click and collect only, as i never go over budget or biy unnecessarily. Trying to stay away from kmart and the reject shop as these are places i buy alot of discounted items. Online shopping can be the hardest to avoid and i havent worked that out yet 😂
I deleted the shopping apps from my phone so I’m not tempted on “bored times” 😂

I haven't home to diry any dishes. My husband been in the hospital since the Fri before Christmas we spend Christmas the hospital with him our oldest son & his girlfriend & our youngest son spend Christmas we spend Christmas him. It looks like that he going to rehab.

My oldest son & his girlfriend told me that it would be better for his dad to go to rehab give me & my youngest some rest the youngest son that lives with .me & my husband. His sodium is low causing him not able to get up walk. For him to go let the therapy work with him so he can get better & up walking.. He & I have been married for 53 yrs.
@@judyavants7928 Def best for him to be in a place where he can recover and you can recoup - I can imagine being apart after all those years would be very very hard - but while he recovers you can recoup your energy and your quality of life will improve for you both when he gets home.... short term pain for long term gain. x

So let's see. You have a family with children of different ages? You live in your home, have some big and some small messes and at times things fall by the wayside? Sounds and looks like real life to me. I have a hard time with content creators blathering about "extreme disaster" and "totally trashed" homes with maybe 3 items on the floor. That wasn't my life when our 3 girls were little. My house resembled yours and I never apologized for that.
It's just us 2 now and 3 cats and I promise you my house STILL gets away from me sometimes. Not sorry.
