Tips for moving day - Put kettle, mugs, glasses and all tea, coffee etc supplies in a seperate box and take it in the car with you so you can make a brew as soon as you arrive at new home: Keep all your bedding together in a seperate box and make up all beds up first thing when you arrive, so you can all go to bed when you get too tired to do anything more for the day. Tiredness creeps up fast and the worst thing is when you don't have a bed ready to get in to. Don't bother taking clothes out of bedroom drawers, and storing them in seperate bags or boxes. Keep everything in their drawers and tie cord around it all to stop drawers opening in transit. (They won't be much heavier for handlers to carry) Don't forget to let the fridge sit for at least 3 hours before you turn it back on when it gets to new house. Before moving day arrange for your mail to be redirected ass soon as you can. Post office here in UK require a few weeks' notice.

Oh yes! Mail - I forgot about that - I keep thinking of it randomly. I actually have a PO Box so I might start with redirecting it there until we have an address.

@@MySemiSortedLife that’s a good idea! And keep a list or spreadsheet so you know what you have updated and what you haven’t.
Moving tip. Move all your furniture into your new place before you take in boxes and belongings. Less to maneuver around. If you have a second floor, move all of the top floor in first.
Set up beds and make them right away. You all have a good place to rest your heads after a long day of moving.

Someone may have mentioned this already, but when I pack it’s all about labeling boxes.
What room, list of things in the box (just in case you are searching for something) & date box was packed. Sometimes, you may only remember the day…good place to start.
Especially because you’re starting early. It’s a good thing, helps to feel a little more in control. Be blessed, friend.😊

Hey hi, I’ve been in your exact shoes. 13 years and then the landlord wanted to move in because we made their house look too good. I spoke with our real estate and they found us another house pretty much instantly (had 2 weeks to pack) a smaller house but because of our rental history we were looked after. I didn’t technically have to apply for the house. Pets were not allowed but real estate pleaded our case - we’ve 3 cats and 1 dog and our landlord has met all and loves them. Our house is smaller and I’m sad about things I had to get rid of and this house is not as “nice” as the last one but it’s much happier. I feel you, it’s overwhelming if you look at the big picture so don’t. Write lists and work on that. First on the list though is talk to your real estate agent and see what they can do to help.

Hang in there, you're doing a fantastic job. I don't know how you're doing it, I am struggling with clearing out one room after my daughter and her partner moved out and no stress of finding a new home and moving! Be kind to yourself and take care. I hope everything works out for you soon ❤

he lovely, if you are packing, label every box good so you now what's in it and witch room it goes or from who it is. take a place where you can put the boxes where you can put a lot of them. i put it in the dining room and living room. replace the furniture if needed. you can pack winter cloth's, a lot of kitchen stuf already and yes your office stuff. don't forget the garage or shed to go in there and declutter so much as you can. it is hard if you don't now where you are going to. put if you need in the worst case a storage to store your stuff you want less stuf to storge because that is so expensive. keep on going you are doing good. big hug Ellen

Yay for starting mel, that's always the hardest part. Amd you feel better amd more motivated every step of the way. But yes it is chaos before it gets better. Definitely getting rid of large furniture you don't need amd rubbish. And then packing anything you don't need for now. I lined my boxes with clothes qith garbage bags to mini water damage etc. I got down to living like we were living out of a suitcase or on holidays. Super minimal clothes, linen, plates cutlery, toys etc. It's an experience but we made it like a game. Cleaning was easier 😅
You got this mel and we are here every step of the way. To minimise bublewrap, use clothes and towels etc to pack glassware and breakables.
Try and have a box for each kid, at the other end it can help keep them entertained if you have boxed up some toys and books that are now like new cos they haven't used them in a while.
Great tips! I bought clear garbage bags for the clothes and told the kids to put winter things and clothes they're not going to wear in there... should cut down on the washing too! lol
Hi Mel, I don't know about you in Australia, but here in the Czech Republic we usually don't have moving boxes. We get boxes for free in different shops - the best ones are the ones made from bananas (they also have lids). Boxes from electrical appliances are also good, but usually stores don't have them freely available, but only for purchased products... Anyway, good luck with the packaging!!!😁
I used to use a plastic rake to rake the toys into the corner, other family members could pick up after themselves and the pets

When we moved into our last house I got rid of obvious trash and thigs we did not need but the majority was done while unpacking. I had so much going on while packing that i didn't have it in me to make difficult decisions. I had an idea in my head what my new life should look like and had no problem donating and tossing anything that did not support my vision once the move was done. When we moved again 2 years later i had a much easier time decluttering before the move.
Oh that’s so reassuring I almost want to cry because that’s exactly how I feel. I just don’t have it in me for a lot of the little nick nacky things. Obvious rubbish etc.

We dint pay for boxes as we got them from supermarkets, big w, target, and other places, fruit boxes(of course clean ones) 😊
Yeah - I just wanted bulk boxes. They've been a godsend and I'll re-sell them when we unpack. lol

Lists will be your friend hun.. create a list of things to do in each room and work through that list. The beauty of a list is that others can work from it too. Plus you’re a planner so you’ll get satisfaction ticking off each item. Just make sure you take care of yourself in between. Please go to your doctor if your BP continues to be high. I take BP tablets and I never realised how a high BP can affect you physically.

Yes! I created a "shared note" on my phone and sent the link to all the kids and my husband - so they have a concept of what needs doing. I also created a wall (fridge) planner with themes for each day so they know what to focus on. #plannerbliss And yes - GP appointment scheduled for later this month.

Gosh, I deeply relate the all the things you're feeling right now. I found the whole process of moving so much more difficult because we didn't know where we were going or when or if we would even find somewhere. The unknown of it all just made it so much tougher. Especially with little to no outside support.
And we had to do our decluttering if at the other end as well, there just wasn't enough time or brainpower left to tackle it beforehand even though it meant packing up and moving a bunch of stuff we knew we probably weren't going to be keeping.
I wish I could offer to help in person in some way whether it be cleaning or packing or anything else you need.
You're doing great though, even if it might not always feel like it. 💜💜

Dear Mel, I hate seeing you struggle. Wish I could help you with your packing. Mel, as a many times packer, both with young children and without, may I highly recommend just one room at a time. I understand how easy it is to get sidetracked in each room, but if you can set yourself up in one room at a time, it is easier. It allows you to have what you need, your boxes, tape, marker pen, bubble wrap, paper all in one spot. Also garbage bags for rubbish and donations from each room. As you finish each room you will see more clearly how much has been achieved.
Mel, I know you love to take on extra as you worry the kids will be stressed, but if you get sick from doing everything, it won't help them. Please chat with them about helping out, they're all old enough to pitch in and lighten the load. So sorry if that comes across as unasked for advice Mel, but I just see that you need to insist on it being a team effort, for the sake of your health. Big hugs. 💌💐

Can you get a storage unit to store the boxes until you move? Also what about a move to the country? Pets and kids are welcome there. Maybe a farmhouse? The day you move put each persons bedding in black garbage bags with bedroom and persons name !
Would love a move to the country - but then you have to factor in extra travel expenses for work and school - my eldest has two retail jobs so we're frequently running her around even close to town. Could add hours to our week. The dream is to do that long term though - for the next couple of years we need to stay close to the schools and work...

Don’t buy a monitor yet. Just concentrate on moving first and getting through that financial burden first. And settling into potentially paying more rent. As a friend - don’t buy anything at the moment.
I didn't buy it - I satisfied the shopaholic in me by "pretending" to buy it and created a savings account for it... but I'm unlikely to buy it at all and will likely delete the savings account. lol. I've been pretty good with my spendy ways since we've gotten this news. Resisted a LOT of temptations...
Would having so many pets effect the rental future
If money is an issue, don’t add on any more pets. It’s a huge amount to the budget. It’s also harder to secure the next property the more of them you have. I don’t know how many you have, I’m new to the videos, but say you renew lease once and then need to find another place it might be more choices if you just have 1 pet and not many?

well.. they live here - so... lol. Yes - we're including them in the process but I'm working really really hard to protect them from my anxiety and stress related to the details and unknown. They don't need that.
