There's a 90 second version of this promo included in the 30 minute Promotional reel that's also on YT. CBS' (then) head of Marketing Steve Sohmer (who would later go to NBC) would spearhead the whole thing.
The graphics were produced by John C. LePrevost, Jay Teitzell, and Lewis Hall. Animated by Dream Quest Images. This promotion was produced by Sheryl Gold. I wonder who did the music?
This is what's written down on AVID, but I wonder how whoever added the info found out. I asked about the music a while ago, and someone said Chuck Blore did it, but again, I'd love to have a cite for that.
Aa cheesy as this campaign is, I actually have a soft spot for it because we had a bunch of old Walt Disney episodes from its CBS run recorded when I was little. As for best promos of 1981...I notice no one seems to have footage of NBC's "Our Pride Is Showing" aside from a :15-ish ident and a local re-sing for WRC-TV, whereas there are bunches of uploads of ABC's 1981 campaign (which won a Clio IIRC). The lyrics on the ABC promo are every bit as bad as CBS's but the groove is amazing, as are the visual effects.
I can't recall the "Our Pride is Showing" campaign from 1981, so it must have been terrible. I can remember Letterman joking about it though, in the early days of "Late Night." ABC's 1981 "Now Is The Time" campaign is one of my faves, that's for sure.
@@VPR2B My only memory of Our Pride Is Showing is being vaguely afraid of one of the music cues, I think whatever they used for program substitutions. I was 4 at the time and so weird fears were just something I had. I very clearly remember Just Watch Us Now and especially Be There, though.
There have been MORE "Pride" local Promos popping up over the years, hopefully it leads to the network version one day. In the meantime, here's about 10 minutes worth, including the one for WRC...czcams.com/video/4GLWmcXy2mA/video.html

Thanks for the heads-up -- found it. Here a link for anyone interested: czcams.com/video/_ziSprxyI4Q/video.html

Your level of knowledge regarding the origins of these graphics is incredible!
