Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge. You removed the mystery for me on the tail repair.

I opened my stab so I could drive solid rivets and removing the debris was easy. Great "hack" with the polycarbonate. I used that trick to build a new fuel tank and pick up some of the spar flange holes.

Excellent choice! I always prefer solid rivets! Thanks for watching!

Polycarbonate can also be bent in a brake, if you wanted to make a drill pattern by picking up the rivet hole on the flanges. Another great video Bill. Thanks. Be careful in the heat!

It seems the poly should be carefully cut to WIDTH on the ends that are not IN the new doubler channel. (Sort of like a dog bone pattern.) That would ensure a more accurate transfer, both Left & Right as well as Up & Down. Yes? I'm not saying what you showed didn't work, but you have more practice than some folks.....

So, the hinges on this are installed with Cherry Max rivets? What was the paint you used on the new parts? Sorry for the noob questions. Just bought a project RV-6, so I'm learning.

I use MIL-P-23377 epoxy polyamide primer. There are all sorts of primer. I have used this stuff for years. I like the yellow as it makes things easier to see in closed places…

Kind of not smart that the original design didnt have doublers at those hinges. I mean you put . 05 steel on a Al spar and don't add any beef? The poly template is a good idea but it does seem thinner would ne best so it yiur hole isnt exactly centered it can shift easier and not obling the original hole in the spar. I would wager you didn't get all those holes centered exactly. And some people dont have the same eye for centering things like others do.
Was it hard to shake the rivets out the inspection hole?

Took a few minutes to shake them out. Lots of room for improvement, but, it is an older version...

Would those hinges work in a RV3?
