      I agree I feel like a mix style of saber fighting (such as anakin and obi which is really good cause anakin's offense and obi's defense) are not only fun to practice and improve on but also work well with a saber fighting choreography.

In "the birth of the lightsaber" featurette, those almost same descriptions are used to give context to the sabers in addition to it being seen as quite heavy with the emphasis on how much power is being produced from the weapon. I really, REALLY like your take on both Vader and Luke's fighting styles. I'm not knowledgeable at sword stuff, but I know media in general has a tendency to make Vader's blows generally slower and fewer in number. I know that lore-wise his suit restricts movements, but I feel like if George could recreate OT fights himself, he'd go for something like this. You can sense that Anakin doesnt have the same agility as before, but he's learned how to conserve energy and deal massive blows to his opponents. A lot of time I see angry, long swings that really leave him open for a counterattack, in order to make him appear more powerful. Best-swordsman-in-the-galaxy Anakin Skywalker, suit or no suit, Force or no Force, wouldnt leave himself open like that. He actually looks deadly here and I love it. It actually made me fear being before the artist doing these moves if it was real.
    Side note, but I'd love your opinion of that One Lightsaber Fight at the mandalorian finale. Thing is, that felt almost too Rogue-One-ish to me instead of taking advantage to make a unique style. But I dont know stuff so i'd love to hear your thoughts!

    • @SchoolofSaberfighting
      @SchoolofSaberfighting  Před 3 lety +5

      What a comment! Appreciate it, thank you! Love the in-depth approach and your take on the evolution of Anakin's fighting style. Well, you might not be a swordsman but your take is far superior to that of some narrow-minded people. Great job!
      Well, I liked it but didn't love it. But the Rogue One resemblance didn't ruin it for me to be honest The choreography could have been better as well as the execution. I also hate when characters fight without taking the cape off but I guess it was necessary to make the big reveal even more exciting so no complaints here.
      As for me, Boba Fett's fight against the stormtroopers was by far the best fight scene of the season (and of the whole series so far).

    This is so beautiful. Thanks. Luke Skywalker fans have been lucky lately. First The Mandalorian season finale, now this. And apparently the guys who have made SC 38 Reimagined are working on The Empire Strikes Back duel.
    Thanks to this video, we already have a reimagined version of Return of the Jedi duel. It will be a dream job if you guys consider turning this into a movie like SC 38 Reimagined.

    • @SchoolofSaberfighting
      @SchoolofSaberfighting  Před 3 lety

      You know, we may not like the recent movies, especially the fighting scenes, but I believe we wouldn't be here without Disney. The hype makes our stuff more popular, the anticipation of the new movies and series makes people binge all the Star Wars related stuff and I'm thankful for that. When I started training in 2009, there were no new movies in sight and was sure we wouldn't last long. Little did I know...

    A little note for future reference, although not stated often nor really explained in the movies, Vader’s shoulder section is in fact a bit heavy. Couple that with the fact half his body was cut, it would be very straining for Vader to lift his arms above his shoulders. But when you really look into the Vader in this choreography, he used his whole body all for an overhead swing.
    It’s a very nice attention to detail, even if it wasn’t intended.

    In case you are wondering, the lightsaber form Luke uses it's called Shien, which is a less-agresive variation of djem-so, Anakin's prefered lightsaber combat form. So Luke fencing style is actually
    pasive-agresive version of Anakin full-agresive fighting style, that we can see during the finale of The Mandalorian when he destroys the darktroopers :)

    • @SchoolofSaberfighting
      @SchoolofSaberfighting  Před 3 lety

      No.
      Hate to break it to you, but the people behind that Luke scene, i.e. both the actor and the stunt coordinator, never heard about any of those so-called forms. Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator of the prequels and basically the Godfather of lightsaber fighting, only heard about these forms because the fans (the geeky ones) probably asked him about these forms like a million times.
      Yeah, I said I hate to break it to you but I lied
      I actually love to do so.
      This 7 forms bullshit gotta die. Too bad the new canon hasn't ditch it like some actually cool things from the old EU.

      @@SchoolofSaberfighting chill bro, i'm just saying what i've read and search on my free time, you think that the forms gotta go, but imo they expand the SW lore, by giving it more content, and neither of us work in SW to change that, and im pretty sure that they don't care what we think ;)
