Kobe was an all time great, for sure, but it is undeniable que was extremely individualistic in his game to the point of his decision making being compromised by his confidence. Jordan worked a bit on this, had valuable players around, Kobe trusted no one. He was so good it usually worked, but it is of common knowledge that moving the ball around more increases the chances of scoring, thus it is more efficient. What Im trying to say is , if kobe was not on a GREAT day (usually he was great), the chances of losing increased a lot. Take Harden for example, he has no rings, and will never have because he does not have the defensive ability and compromise Kobe had, but the attacking approach is the same. Im the best, i carry the ball and shoot. One worked a lot (kobe was far better) and the other one never works.

Kobe should have at least 3 mvps. IMO, he was blackballed because of the Colorado accusation and the way Shaq left the Lakers. Back then lots of “analysts” hated him and David Stern did not want to promote Kobe. Its incredible he did not win between 2004 to 2007 where he carried the Lakers to a finals with an out of shape and injured Shaq and made the playoffs and push the Suns to the brink with a depleted squad after the Shaq trade.
These awards are bunch of political bs.
Before you canonize Kobe, let's see what he had to say about the "Colorado accusation":
"First, I want to apologize directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologize to her for my behavior that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. Although this
year has been incredibly difficult for me personally, I can only imagine the pain she has had to endure. I also want to apologize to her parents and family members, and to my family and friends and
supporters, and to the citizens of Eagle, Colo.
"I also want to make it clear that I do not question the motives
of this young woman. No money has been paid to this woman. She has
agreed that this statement will not be used against me in the civil
case. Although I truly believe this encounter between us was
consensual, I recognize now that she did not and does not view this
incident the same way I did. After months of reviewing discovery,
listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now
understand how she feels that she did not consent to this
encounter."

I think he'd have several 60-point games for sure, anyway.
