It really appears as if there’s an UNDERCURRENT to his questioning, his delivery, and even his overall demeanor when the camera is focused on him. As a sidebar to my reply this is why I don’t trust, nor put stock into ‘box titles’ such as ‘liberal’, nor ‘conservative’. The interviewer is clearly grappling with the unspoken themes of ‘white rage’, ‘white guilt’, and ‘white fragility’ of his own self-examination which he needs to spend his own time exploring. The indictment on the system of long-held inbred racism is directly linked to this interviewers ethnic group who collectively dictate the system at this time.

Seeing how small in stature he seems to be in real life also let's me know how much of an easy target he was made out to be by everyone; small, innocent, kid with a disability being wrongly convicted of a rape he knew nothing about.... he was truly shark bait. Andy Velasquez black people are not prepared to handle america. We are not taught the danger of living in america being black. I'm a 66 year old black woman born in Mississippi, I came in the segregation erra,we knew to go to the black only side of America, the young people these days are not aware of things until they find themselves entwined in a situation like travon martin, Micheal Brown, because signs and barriers are not openly displayed. You can't expect the youth to know their parents are not aware. When I was a teen we knew there certain places we could not go in the city where we lived. Because there was visible signs that said no negroes allowed. Now there's so called desegregation,there's no signs
      But you color is a barrier that make you a target for the in the world. It sad that the system make an example out the black child and treats them as if they are adults. The same system on the other hand makes excuses for the white child and gives them the benefit of the doubt. The black people in america are opressed, chronically depressed and for some of.us we self medicate .

      Don't be so hard on him. EVERYONE (media and public) had it in for the CP5 in the beginning. There was NO ONE on their side when it started. The police caught these kids and convinced themselves they were guilty, invented a story of how the rape occurred, and got confessions from all of them telling them all the while that if they just confessed they could go home! The media had been snowed by the police and DA. Now in retrospect, after the real rapist confessed, it seems obvious that the police/DA ignored faulty timelines, lack of DNA evidence, lack of non-participant witnesses, disparities in the five confessions, and the fact that juveniles had been aggressively interrogated for up to 30 hours without food or a lawyer. But confessions, even under highly questionable circustances carry A LOT of weight. It is a shame that the real rapist was able to continued to assault women while these poor kids rotted in prison. One question I have: Why do we ASK the accused if they want a lawyer and allow them to speak w/o one? Wouldn't it be better to REQUIRE a lawyer be present? It might have speared these poor kids 7-11 years in prison!!!

His story deserved more camera time than it got, and people are speculating that netflix felt certain parts of his story were much too harsh and graphic for their service. I think we should all come together and push for a docu-series that is solely about Korey's life. All of it. The bullying he faced as a teen that caused him to skip school, the disabilities he was born with that made him so vulnerable in this case, his family sitiation, his relationship with his girlfriend, the specifics of the tragedies that happened while serving his sentence, and what life is like for him now! He deserves that recognition. If Korey is actually willing to share his life with us than I think we should all push for him to get that recognition!!

      @@mellajoe I was listening to something on the radio, and I believe they implied that he did get more. Unfortunately, none of that money can buy their childhoods back.

      Raquel’s Royalty The man has been disrespected a large part of his life. Let’s respect him enough to spell his name right. I meant no disrespect to you. How do you feel when your name is spelled incorrectly or mispronounced.

      @Raquel03 Před 5 lety +7

      kimmy D I do not mean to come off as disrespectful especially for how I spelled his name , it was a mistake , what that man went through was horrific to the point where it at times it keeps me up at night so with me misspelling his name I meant no harm .

      Raquel’s Royalty Of course you didn’t mean any harm. We all hurt for him. I do not doubt that your heart is in the right place. I noticed that a lot of people spelled his name wrong on here and I was hoping some would see my comment and edit the misspelling. That is all. Please forgive me if i came off as attacking you personally. That was not my intention.
