One of the major perks of living in the UK, from what I’ve observed as an American, is access to all that “common” land. The US has a ton of public land that you can explore, and it’s mostly east of the west coast cities through to the southwest and the heartland plains. That land has its own supreme beauty. But it’s different than having an entire island country which has been walked on by people for at least tens of thousands of years, which is largely open for pedestrian travel, and full of little reminders of all who have been there before.
