    Biohacking is all the rage, but if you’re not doing it correctly, you could wind up causing more harm than good. Overexercising, undereating, and eating too many superfoods can have the reverse effect as intended, causing nutrient deficiencies, weight gain, and cortisol depletion. Sometimes less is more, and by toggling our biohacking tools at the right time and with the right intensity, we can get closer to the results we want.
    I’m excited to sit down with my good friend, Dave Asprey, to talk about how to upgrade our metabolism, stress response, strength, and brain health while radically reducing the amount of effort it takes to get there.
    Dave Asprey is an entrepreneur, the Father of Biohacking, and the leading voice in the movement to take control of your own biology. He’s hosted over 1,000 episodes of “The Human Upgrade Podcast” (formerly Bulletproof Radio) for more than a decade. He also hosts the world’s largest and longest-running biohacking conference. I have had dentures in my mouth since age 11 due to an accident at that age. I think of it as a blessing now, no inflammation or gum disease since my gums have been closed for 60 yrs. I also follow the system of no sugar no inflammatory bad fats, lots of healthy fats, my triglycerides are normal and I have literally no health issues at the age of 71 almost 72. My younger brothers and sisters, all 5 of them, are constantly battling weight, diabetes, ulcerated legs, bone breakage, gout, whatever. as the oldest, I am able to climb trees, hang upside down in my yoga swing, and hop over fences. I don't go to the gym, I just walk my dog. My only health issues are stress from the loss of my 2 adult sons. This is actually huge, and can affect the body substantially. I am always arguing with my primary caregiver, who is too pharma happy . I did have a goiter at 12 and my thyroid has been very off since then, but I have got it under control. Heart disease runs in my family, but I just want to be healthy enough in my 70s so I can get old with very little to no issues as I age and stay independent. I don't fear the death of my body at all. As long as I HAVE a body, however, I don't want it to end up being dependent on anyone or anything. Thanks for the videos.

      I think he does look older. I think I and most people look better with a little fat with their muscles. But I guess we need to make a choice? I dunno. Feel better or look better? Happy medium. Everything in moderation.

      Sorry to hear about your sons. My Dad passed recently and finding it tough without him, trying to also taper off Paxil which is an SSRI for depression/anxiety that I was prescribed 30yrs ago, its VERY VERY hard to come off without your brain and body going into absolute turmoil, 2 docs said stay on the drug and one said try to come off, docs are or can be unpredictable, they give different advice depending on their particular way of thinking.

      Hi Dave 👋😃 my friend just recommended you hoping that you might have a solution to my problem. My left pointer finger is missing Cartledge in the middle and the top because of a dog bite dissolving it long story short my cat went into the neighbor's yard and both the big dog started attacking her I jumped the fence and rescued my cat but I got caught in between The Killing so the dog and the cat chewed up my hand. I just found out today that I have no cartilage in my pointer finger at the middle joint and the end and I would like to regrow it so I can use my left hand again thank you any advice to regrowing back Cartledge💖🤗

    I'm 62 have worked out since I was in my teens and have NEVER had a weight problem. I'm also the only female in my family over 30 that doesn't have a weight problem 5'4 120. I've never counted a calorie in my life don't know how. I find the only time I pick up a few pounds is when I don't work out. I think the body is meant to be physically active, not just for muscles but for the untold benefits that being physically active gives. I'm not saying you have to spend hours at the gym but spending a few minutes a day and then sitting around the rest of the day, I don't know but I'll keep doing the things that's working for me. I have very strong bones apparently because I fall all the time, off my rollerblades, hiking, falling on my icey driveway and on and on, and haven't broken a bone yet. Btw I take zero medication, and can still out lift my 27yr old daughter and her friends.

    I like and believe the concept (walk slow/run fast) in the park. I wish someone would relate this to how an elderly person could do this. I’m willing, but my 75 YO body can’t run fast. And, if I fall down I will be like Humpty Dumpty!

    • @MacSwan
      @MacSwan Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you’re talking about running fast I would suggest the basics of wearing good tennis shoes and get a good stable surface or area where you want to run. And then I would run as best you can a short distance say 40 to 50 feet. Do it a few times say 3 to 4 times or less if needed. Do it as best you can. What you’re doing is practicing running. Don’t overdue it or push hard because you dont want to injure yourself, safety is high priority. If you do this however many times you want a week but probably at least 3 times you will start to improve and understand what your body needs to do. You are developing a skill. You’re practicing running.

    My Coach simply said don't train beyond 75% output for the majority of my sessions and was 30 years ago.
    The main problem is that simple, measured and controlled doesn't sell unless you are actually trying to be an athlete. We all know you can't go full gas everyday or you break down. That's why we pyramid into peak condition and then recover for a week or two and then pyramid again. The science is actually very old but individuals want to discover America and there were already people here.

    • @jefferytrapani9700
      @jefferytrapani9700 Před 3 měsíci +1

      This technique is not new. Maybe 20 years old. As a trainer, the way I would do it is run as fast I can on the treadmill until the heart rate showed I was at 80-90% max heart rate (huffing and puffing, legs about to start burning) and then take it down to a slow walk until recovery- breathing steadied. No longer gasping for air. This varies for people but for me it took about a minute or two to recover. i basically just walked long enough to restore my breath. Then I would quickly take it back up to a sprint until I couldn't take it anymore and then back down. It just turns out to be 20-30 seconds. Sometimes a little longer before you get to exhausted to keep running. You can do this for 3-5 cycles but by then, you are done! All this in a 10-15 min workout. I only did this about 2-3 days a week. Any more is not needed. And what he may have not mentioned is that steady cardio may burn fat for the duration of the workout. This form of training does most of the fat burning AFTER the session and over the course of the next 24 hours. At the gym, it may look a little funny, because you may be running faster than anyone there and then walk and then sprint and then walk again. And then leave, while the person next to you has been walking for an hour and you end up looking much better than they do a month later. Work out smarter, not harder. :)

    Very innovative, for sure. There's a part of me, however, that feels like there's something missing in Dave's perspective. I feel like he complicates things more than is necessary, which works against practicality of real life. I'm all for working smarter not harder AND I also feel like simplicity is key to success. I don't doubt that he's knowledgeable about many things, yet I'm feeling a lot of skepticism. Anyone else?

      YESS, very wise and good instincts. I was kind of scanning the comments looking for something like this. It's the same thing also with Bryan Johnson. It's not a practical approach at all and has no evidence. So much of it lacks sound principles it seems. This biohacking field is mostly about money. We know very little about it, and you can see by the results. People that have a ton of money and are so-called experts in the field seem to be actually aging a bit faster at times. There's so much mystery about hormesis and some of these premises. On top of that, all of it is so salesy and just doesn't seem trustworthy..

    There's a machanical/ physiology of bringing in oxygen (exertion) to move us on the inside that's not covered here. In fact, we burn fat by exhaling (CO2). Remember, just like an engine.

    New studies show success using a TENS unit can electronically exercise male pelvic floor muscles when properly attached to the tail bone and front floor base of penis. A difficult muscle to exercise can be done electronically.

    Skin-On Chicken Many so-called health experts are saying to eat chicken without the skin. Bad nutritional idea. When middle-aged women (39 to 59 years) took oral collagen supplements made from chicken cartilage, it improved their fine lines, wrinkles, crow's feet, and skin elasticity, according to a 2019 study in Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine. So if you want a food-first approach, go for skin-on chicken. Or, if it's ground chicken that you like, ask your butcher if the ground chicken includes the skin and, if not, ask them to grind it for you from skin-on thighs or breasts.
    Sardines Not unlike other animal sources of collagen, fish collagen is concentrated in the bones, skin, and scales. So, if you're going the whole food route for collagen, choose a fish where you'll actually eat most or all of the fish, such as sardines. Also, if you cook your other fish-like salmon fillets-with the skin on and then eat the skin, you should get a little collagen boost from that, too.
    Can We Work Together?
    LEARNING TO LIVE WITH PURPOSE IN YOUR LIFE TO DO THINGS THAT YOU LOVE TO DO WILL HELP TO KEEP YOU FEELING AND LOOKING YOUNG.
    Organ Meats Collagen type I is naturally concentrated in organs. If animal organs, like the liver, heart, brain, and kidneys, aren't a part of your diet, don't worry: there are other ways to get collagen type I into your diet, as it's also found in skin, bone, and ligaments.
    You can mix your bone broth with water and dietary fiber like Holistic Chef Barry Anderson will do for his intermittent fasting. A kind of Smoothie in the morning. It's a supplement form of collagen-aka smaller collagen molecules, called peptides, that have been extracted from their original source (chicken, beef, fish, etc.) You can add your own collagen powder at home but many coffee and smoothie shops are carrying collagen-rich beverages.
    Berries Pick your favorite-blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries. They're all a great way to add vitamin C to your diet, a nutrient that helps your body build collagen. Vitamin C is also a vitamin we must eat because our body doesn't make it naturally. A cup of strawberries has nearly 100% of your daily target for vitamin C and a cup of raspberries or blackberries has about 35% of your daily C goal. Side note: vitamin C has been found to have its own skin health benefits: research has found that those who have vitamin C-rich diets have better skin appearance and fewer wrinkles.
    PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL BERRIES MUST BE ORGANIC as this food group studied by the Environmental Group is the most chemically treated of all. Vitamin C and Collagen work together in synergy and efficacy.
