    My mother in law would assign a wrapping paper each, but she wouldn’t label the presents. You had to find the square of paper in the toe of your stocking.

    Thanks for all the hacks. That snow making machine was used by my niece and nephew. Their father ,my brother, was very sick with liver disease. One of his last wishes was to see snow. They turned on the machine outside his bedroom window. He loved it. A rare sight in southern Virginia

    Once my children grew & left the house, I quickly downsized to a smaller Christmas tree. I must have waited a bit TOO long to find a decorative tree skirt because I couldn’t find ANYTHING🤦🏻‍♀️ I happened to be in the sewing/crafts aisle and VOILA’......I saw my solution 🤩 Christmas patterned FABRIC!! Just bought a yard that caught my eye (which was very inexpensive) & draped it around the base, being careful to tuck over the raw edges the best I could - SO pretty!🎄! 👍

    I love the ornament anchor idea, but I will have to add them a few at a time. I put up three trees, the largest has almost 200 angels on it! My Christmas tree skirt is actually a circular shawl my MIL crocheted for me in the 60s to wear to a formal dance. It is huge! I never wore it as a shawl, but is an awesome Christmas tree skirt. It is extra special now since we lost her in 2021.

    I so loved all of your ideas as always. I’m now so excited for the holidays. Plus, I’m an RN working in a hospital. Our unit hardly ever had holiday cheer. I’d like to make a few of those stars made from the mini trees and used command hooks to fasten them to the walls.

  • @barbarahansen5353
    @barbarahansen5353 Před 6 měsíci +8

    Our main tree (in the living room) is 12 feet tall so no need to raise it. But I always put up a smaller 6 foot tree in the kitchen with all of my angel ornaments. I use the plastic bin that stores the angel ornaments to raise the tree. Just cover with a Christmas plaid fabric and then lay the tree skirt over that. It’s one less box to stash back in the garage during the Christmas season.

    Love these ideas. I haven't wrapped a gift for my 2 children since 2018, we use heavy duty canvas laundry bags that look like Santa's bag. Using their favorite color, I drew their names and decorated each. It's great because the size helps with limiting the amount of gifts and the only clean up, is the packaging the items came in. The only down side is as they get older (not wanting toys anymore), the bag looks flatter compared to the younger sibling because a lot of what they want are usually smaller more expensive items.

    • @loverlyme
      @loverlyme Před 5 měsíci

      You'll have to sew up the edges of the bags so they become smaller. If they notice, just tell them the washer or dryer must have shrunk them!

  • @cariwaldick4898

    For your aromatic, go ahead and make spiced apple cider. Just pour apple juice in a crock pot, add in orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, etc, and a bit of sugar. It'll taste as good as it smells.
    You can buy a big container of cinnamon, mix it with a single serving apple sauce and mix it to make a dough. Roll the dough and use cookie cutters to cut shapes out, poke a hole for a ribbon or string, and let them dry to hang on the tree--they'll smell amazing.

    I have always placed our Christmas trees (we do several every year) on top of tables!
    I promise you, it's an absolute game-changer!! (We always buy REAL trees, and they're quite large - over 12' tall. The tables I use are usually end tables, around 18" high.) Makes it SO much easier to place gifts under - And it just LOOKS prettier! Cover the table with a beautiful faux fur/cable knit/sherpa/fuzzy blanket and let it puddle onto the floor... GORGEOUS! ❤💚

      You could do coordinated colors/patterns in your theme? For instance: Candy cane red and white stripes; a green buffalo plaid; a plain red; a plain green; even a plain white. Sometimes you can buy sets of paper that all coordinate with one another even. So each person could still have an individual color, but all together they still coordinate and go with your theme. :)

    My book club holiday party fell to me several years ago. For adult table decor I had a couple rolls of narrow metallic gold and silver ribbon and just cut them to different lengths. Some I curled with scissors some just the natural softer curls from being wound up. Silver candles and dollar tree small gold tree ornament balls. All went on a white tablecloth. Frankly, it made the food and wine, which provided the color, look great.

    Thank you! Loved every tip! My only detail I do, I have multiple trees and I put red roses and red glitter pointsetta into the tree. Just adds pop. ❤

    We have a family tradition. My husband and myself go to our sons for Christmas week. We have Christmas on Christmas eve. Christmas day we bake!!! Pap is in charge of sugar cookies!!! My daughter in law buys the premade dough too. She also covers the table with a plastic table cloth from Dollar tree. When we are done, we fold it up & throw it away. Even though they are 11, 10 & 8, theres frosting every where & Nana might be alittle messy too 😊

    We have a tradition of doing the wrapper paper per kid and one more for parent/everybody gifts. They each get a small gift wrapped in their stocking so they know which paper is theirs, then we take turns wearing a Santa hat and whoever is wearing said hat distributes one present to each person. Slows down the whole process and makes them appreciate each gift a little more before ripping into the next one and just makes Christmas feel bigger over all lol (I just have to make sure there's at least an even number of presents spread among the kiddos and enough "everybody" presents so they have something to hand to mom and dad, they don't like it when they run out of stuff to give us too, cuties 💕). I also save nice boxes, tissue paper, and have nice homemade reusable tags and ribbon. That way every year the most I'm spending in wrapping might be replacing just the paper if I ran out the year before so more of my Christmas budget can go to their presents instead of throw aways. It works out pretty well for us.

    Last year we had SO MUCH family here for the holidays. I bought inexpensive tissue paper and assigned each person a different color. I made a master list for myself, but otherwise labeled nothing. I managed to find 12 colors for 12 people. It was SO helpful!!! (Especially since I HATE, LOATHE, and DESPISE wrapping gifts.)

    Great video! My favorite was peeling the stickers off new items. I spend so much time soaking those in rubbing alcohol or some sort of oil and scrubbing off with paper towels. Excited to try it!

      I find that oil works, too. Vegetable, olive, whatever you have. Sometimes you need to use a scrubby, but it does come off without much trouble. The hairdryer trick would help to get it started for that, too. Smart idea!

      Yes, coconut oil works better than vegetable oil but all oils work. Goo Gone stinks too bad but it also works

    Each year we pick a "color theme" from a bowl filled with various options and our decor and everything else revolves around that, last year was Mad Plaid, and this year it is Traditions, with green, red, charcoal and the metallic is silver. Each person will get assigned a paper that has some of the various colors and even "the house" gets gifts and it's own wrap, because who really wants a new remote for Xmas, only the house! LOL... I love the idea of people learning which paper is theirs by sticking a piece in the toe of their stocking... That's a fab idea!

    Two years ago was the year to clean up the decades of left over wrapping paper ends from everyone having a distinct one every year. It took much longer. Since the youngest was a teenager and I was exhausted, I put name tags on nothing. We have always taken turns, guessing what the gift is before opening. Most gifts were obvious as to whom the recipient should be (but I had veto rights) - it was a hit with much laughter. I, too, raise my tree up on something but I differ in that I use a table cloth as the tree skirt. It drapes beautifully and already works in the room.

    Years ago I worked at a pop up christmas store in the mall and I had to decorate 25 trees and one of the ways to really make your tree bright and beautiful is when you are putting on your lights start at the inside of the tree (where the pole or trunk is) and that way illuminates your tree from the inside out.

    Wow, just 2 minutes in and already learning a lot! Love the thought of using ornament hooks for garland! Why didn't I think or that? I recommend putting a nail/screw/ hook somewhere to anchor the tree to a wall and/or ceiling. Especially if you raise the tree. Cats, kids, tipsy folks, wobbly folks, and trying to put more water in reservoir can all lead to disaster. Heavy duty fishing line is nearly invisible for this. Wish I kept my old MOP and GLO.
