I love all of these FABULOUS ideas. But nothing beats the image of the missing bread tags and missing socks living their best lives on a commune. Every time I think of that, I get happy. Thank you!
I was just about to say that! 😆
You
Somebody, for fun, should invent a Bridge type "commune" for all the missing socks. (I swear i washed both; where Do they sneak off to!)
Great hacks
Just to let people know lost socks can end up in the washing machine behind the drum
So it is true the washing machine ate the sock saying is true lol
Or sometimes they do get lost socks like in ur bed lol
😊
I put a rubber band on the end of tooth brushes that are used for cleaning.
Great idea 💡 👍 thank you💯
Love the way you get straight to your content. Awesome collection of tips.
You deserve CZcamss best household tips award! Everyone of your tips were great👏👏👏
The dry erase marker also works great on bathroom mirrors to give yourself little reminders in the morning/evening!
Lol! I did that with lip gloss, markers etc if I needed to jot down a number and couldn't find a pen!! Went to my daughter's house and all her mirrors were lined with notes and numbers lol!
I totally agree with your "rant" about toilets. 😊 I've always felt the same way about stoves. Too many nooks and crannies in hard to clean places.
We've lived in a 1960 built house for 7 years. As we replace Ceiling fans, light fixtures, etc my goal is always "easy to clean (and change light bulbs if applicable). My Husband was like "You don't want the pretty ornate stuff?" No. Lol.
@@kimfallen7282 Not anymore! 🙂
As always…amazing useful and practical.I have stupidly high ceilings that like to gather cobwebs so right from the start you were talking my language. I literally squealed when you did the section on rechargeable lightbulbs lol - for both the decor and for the powercut situation 😂 I’ve used so many of your tips before, can add all of these to my bank of knowledge now 👏 (Also amazing imagery of the sock/tab commune with acoustic guitar and hippy vibes combo)
And high chairs!!
May I add a tip? I flip to Nov. or Dec. when I get a new calendar in Jan. for the upcoming year. I write in Nov. or Dec. (whichever works best) what items I need for the holidays. Napkins or tableware or gift tags-those types of things. So when I flip to the months with special holidays I can purchase what I need because by then I will have definitely forgotten what I needed, and the items are listed on my new calendar.
Great idea. Maybe write recipes or copy recipes and glue it over the pages that most likely will not use. Sometimes it has a notes page. Also jot down where you put all of those items that you will need. Lol.
My favorite hack you shared today is using upside-down command hooks on your kitchen garbage can to keep the bag from slipping down inside your can. And I store my plastic shopping bags inside a Rubbermaid cereal container - easy to put in/take out, and it takes up very little space.
Rice in the sock also works in the microwave for a neck/ shoulder warmer and relaxer.
I have never, ever saved a home hacks video - until now. The first one I plan to use is the heavy duty broom in the showers. We have stone floors in them and I scrub them by hand with a small brush. I'm 72 and it's not always easy for me. There were a couple of others - like the over-the-door hangar for outside and that glue stuff to keep things from sliding.
I can remember using wax paper on the sliding board at the playground to make it slide faster. There was just enough wax on the wax paper to make it really slippery.
Good times!!!
Or a candle stick
I use wool dryer balls in the dryer. No buying/nor making dryer sheets. I use three. The last for ages. Like years. I highly recommend them.
They are noisy though.
We use neither dryer sheets nor balls in the dryer and our clothes come out without any wrinkles.
Perhaps it's because I take them out of the dryer fairly soon, smooth and fold them right away and put them away.
Love the glue stick hack! This is going to make crafting so much easier. Many thanks!
The bag in water to take out air is my new favorite hack!!!❤
Mine too❤
This is great for freezer storage. Prevents freezer burn.
Those caster wheels are genius, need those on my kitchenaid!
For toilets and toothbrush, maybe in the us it isn't available but in Poland there is something that in my translation is unclipped toilet seat, basically its just what it's called, you can unclipped seat and wash it in bathtub or shower, its not very common but i could not live without it since i discovered that
I know exactly what you are talking about, so good job with the translation. They aren't very common but I have one too. Some of them are called Lift-off or easy-off. I will never go back to the other type either.
They are available. I bought one from Home Depot. =^..^=
I love her pace, her lack of small talk, her occasional observations (it’s 2023 Why do we have all these crevices on a toilet?)
I do feel like the socks and bread tags on the way out to the commune took all the small forks and all the Tupperware lids!
Thanks for so many helpers. My favorite it using the dish wash sponge and handle thing for cleaning in the shower. That is going on my list of things to pick up at the Dollar Tree. Another was the glue stick....how simple, yet why had I not thought of it. I subscribed so I wouldn't miss any other hints and tricks. See, you can teach an old dog new tricks....I'm 84 and learned several new tricks today.
Since you're elderly like me, here's a hack for getting clothes out of the dryer. Get a grabbie from Harbor Freight. When clothes are dry and you can't get that sock in the far back of the dryer without excessive reaching, use your grabbie.
@@judyanderson8782 Thank you Judy, That gives me an idea to use that grabber (which I do have) for getting some of the laundry from my washer also. It is so deep that sometimes even on tip toes I still can't reach the wayward piece. I appreciate you reminding me that grabber can be used somewhere else besides my pantry.
I use my grabby thing to open and close my curtains that hang freely on the curtain rods, just grab and drag! Easy!
@@bobbiegallia1188 great idea, thanks for sharing that one.
Long tongs work well in the laundry room too
Personally I wouldn't do the cooler one because I have several ginormous pots, plus a roasting pan I could use instead, but also the potential BPA/chemical leaching concerns. If you really need to use it, I would recommend first lining the cooler with a *turkey-sized oven bag* as those are food safe and will tolerate boiling water. Pop the bag into the cooler, place the corn inside the bag, then pour the boiling water into the bag. Place a couple of wire racks on top to keep the corn submerged for even cooking and you should be good to go.
I bake my eggs using a muffin tin. Because I’m the designated deviled egg maker of our extended family, I can get many eggs done at once and they peel beautifully. 325 preheated oven, bake for 30 minutes. Ice bath. Done.
Do you start with refrigerated eggs?
We can hardly wait to try that one!
I agree with your complaints about nooks and crannies of cleaning. As we built our house, everything I chose was based on how easy it was to clean. Also, we bought one piece toilets, which are a lot easier to clean
Houses and cars should be designed for ease of cleaning!
I just got some denture tablets to clean my stained thermos flasks and mugs. I'll try them on my Tupperwares too.
How did you determine if something was easy to clean, do you have some tips or your thoughts?
Gotta get a steamer....it changed my life. I hardly even buy cleaning products anymore. It also cleans nooks and crannies beautifully, removes water spots, hard water stains.....stains on fabric, everything. I used to hate cleaning, now it's basically me getting to play with my awesome new toy lol 😊
@@amandajlemenmight get one now! Thanks
Lots of great ideas here! An instant pot will also give you eggs that practically peel themselves, either fresh out of the pot or after refrigerating! Also, a denture brush is even better than a toothbrush for getting into those little crevices! The bristles are stiffer, and they have a section of longer bristles on the end. I buy them for that very purpose, because nobody in our house has dentures. 😊
Instant pot eggs. 2 minutes on high pressure, 3 minute natural release. Never going back :)
Lol, I use those denture cleaner tabs to clean plastic food containers when they get any kind of stains in them, esp from Speg sauce!
@@Em22-wtfAnother idea, is to use spray oil on the inside of a plastic container and that will prevent the tomato based sauces from staining the container. I just spritz and then spread around with my hand to save on product
I wonder if you’d ,ind giving us suggestions with recipes for a hit pot. My niece gave me one a few months ago and talked him thru making homemade yogurt for me, it was excellent . I broke my hip twice in a roll and I kept getting thrush on my tongue from the antibiotics. The first break was a couple of days after the brakes out on my car because I was pumping my brakes trying to get my Equinox to stop. I totaled a police car, a public works truck, and someone’s brand new
Chevy Impala. Janice
@@janicebell5925 OH! MY! Hope you are OK! That has to be scary!!
I love these hacks and your channel. When it comes to cooking corn in a cooler though, I wonder if the plastic liner in the cooler was designed to endure boiling water, so chemicals don’t leech into the water and if that plastic is BPA free.
I was concerned about this as well!
I wouldn’t risk the leaching chemicals on my food. Otherwise, every hack is just fantastic, especially the garbage can hooks. Love your channel.
While I personally wouldn't do this hack myself - I have a huuuuuuge pot as well as a large roasting pan I could use - I suppose if someone really needed to do it they could first line the cooler with one of those turkey-sized oven bags? Those bags are meant to be food-safe so I guess that should work.
Maybe a food-safe crockpot liner could be used for additional peace of mind.
I'm thinking of trying this in my crockpot for a smaller quantity. The boiling water in an already heated crockpot should work well
Another hack to clean all the crevices of the toilet, is to use a cotton bud/ Qtip dipped in your usual cleaner. Then dispose in the bin when done. 😊
The grocery bag hack- I've been folding mine and putting in a box. Yes, it allows for many more bags, but I don't always have the time and have to ask somebody else to fold them. Her idea is much quicker!
DIY sock air freshener…I immediately thought of hiding it under the seat of the car 😊
Place it under the passenger side, just so it can't accidentally roll under the brake pedal. (Better safe than sorry!)😁🚙🧦
I have refreshed potpourri with essential oils & filled the thin organza gift bags that come with so many girlie things. If you find tiny burlap one's they're good for air freshners too. My Sox are all accounted for😳
There's a lip under the seat in all my cars that prevent anything rolling forward. I keep Emergency flip flops & an umbrella under the seat w my air freshners.
I love your rapid-fire videos! They are filled with a plethora of truly AWESOME ideas and information! The ideas and hacks are all very usable and they are either free or very affordable! Thank you for providing the links for us, where you can, as well! With 3 kids, I don't know HOW you can pull off these longer videos, but I'm sooo glad you do! 😊 Take care and be well! ❤
You can pop the toilet seat off. I used to clean houses. You open the little tabs and pop it off, making it 10x's faster and easier .
Not everyone's toliet seat pops off. I wish mine did but I live in an apartment and none of them do.😢
I learned this last year!!! How many years I thought my toilets were clean… I shudder to think how wrong I was!😮
That’s specific to much newer models, most are attached by the long screws that attach from the bottom
@sandinewton1896 you just unscrew it most people's toilets aren't fastened correctly any way that why they slide around
I clean houses with one other lady and I do bathrooms as long as she does the kitchen and I have yet to come across a toilet seat that just pops off. Not a common thing where I'm at I guess.
ALWAYS useful, never filler. Thank you!
If you do not tear the entire foil cover on a container off, but only take off 3/4 and leave on the container you won't need the tape.
Denture brushes work better than toothbrushes since they have a larger head and stiffer bristles.
I also use denture tablets in vases that have "crud" left behind from flower stems or leaves. Just rinse the vase, fill it with water, toss in a denture tablet and leave it overnight. In the morning, the remaining crud will easily rinse out.
This is the only "hacks" video that I've found, that has ACTUALLY USEFUL and PRACTICAL ideas! I was about to give up on finding helpful hacks - you've restored my faith in household hacks content - Thank you!!
LOL omg Now I have visions of bread tags and lost socks on an island somewhere drinking fruity drinks with little paper umbrellas in them LOLOL But you have some great hacks here! I certainly learned a thing or ten. One of the first ones made my eyes widen, the broom to clean the tub. OMG...thats definitely a great one! Thanks so much for putting this all together for us.
I don't know how you keep coming up with logical helpful tips! Great work and thanks! 👏
My mom’s best tip for cloth dishcloths: run water in the sink, add a bit of bleach, add the dishcloths, let them soak, and then rinse them (or put them in the washing machine). Gets rid of the grungy stink and leaves your sink sparkling!
Love the idea of hooks on the side of the garbage can. Brilliant!
Take a bow, you are totally organized and everything you do! Thank you for sharing this and I love the transcript. It’s gonna be an easy one to replicate your ideas. Just the kids.
Your bread bag tag/lost sock commune theory is one of the best things I’ve ever heard! Thank you for that little gem in the middle of your video😂😂
It really works. Plus, your bread is easier to store without the extra bread wrapper flopping around.
These mate and come back as Tupperware lids with no mate…
I bought a bag of rubber bands meant to stretch and hold your kitchen trash bag in place off of Amazon. They were inexpensive for a big bag and they work perfectly. And each band lasts a long time before it starts getting stretched out, so one package will probably last me the rest of my life!
Aging-in-Place 'Hack':
If you have mobility issues, you must hate having to use base cabinets for storage, especially the sink base cabinet.
Instead of using a variety of extendable shelves, stacking bins, or shelf risers, look into installing extension shelves.
They come in a variety of widths and depths, to work with the unique volume configurations of the space in sink base cabinets. Some include a second tier shelf narrow enough to thread the space between pipes and the cabinet side.
They can be mirrored on each side of the base cabinet, then a long thin bin can be placed between the two for additional storage.
NO MORE KNEELING TO REACH THE BACK OF THE BASE CABINET!
These are brilliant! Thanks! I'm stealing a bunch! 😁I love the idea of storing occasionally used items (e.g., a turkey roaster) elsewhere so it doesn't take up valuable space like in the kitchen. I do this with any linens for the holidays. My Thanksgiving and Christmas linens, potholders, tea towels, aprons, kitchen towels, etc. are all stored with the Christmas decorations so they don't take up room in my linen closet. The best part though is that I'm not tearing the linen closet apart trying to find them right before Thanksgiving dinner is served.
Wonderful tips & I love the way you go through them so quickly!!!
One of the best collection of ideas, thanks. I also like how you keep the info moving along.
I literally had to pause this on the TV so I could comment on my phone that there is NO way my type of lazy is like yours! Like seriously 😂💚 I was pretty proud of myself for already implementing a few of these (including putting command hooks on our outdoor shop so we would have towel spots for our pool).
Those little casters are amazing and I’m going to have to add hooks to my trash can so we can start doing that!
I did this too😂
I steam my eggs in a collapsible metal steamer tray thing. I put it in a pan of water. Once it boils I place the eggs in. Boil for 20 minutes on medium heat. Place in ice water and they peel perfectly. No shells getting stuck. Steam is the answer. I'm assuming that's what the air fryer does.
@@osakarose5612 Thanks. I need to give it a try.
My hardboiled egg shells always stuck until I tried this hack I saw: bring the water to a rolling boil first, and THEN add the eggs. Simmer about 14 min. I also put them straight into ice water when they're done, but that alone wasn't enough. It's the rolling boil that made the difference.
Lots of good ideas here!
Maybe that's why the streaming method works so well. I boil the water first.
That’s exactly what I do! Add eggs to boiling water. Boil for 14 then ice for 7
A pleasure as always . I get some of the best ideas from you. I couldn’t find the rechargeable light bulbs in your store front . Do you have a link to them? Thank you ❤
The one with toilet cleaning. I've been doing this for over 30yrs. Although I use the paper for the top & rim, and a brush for the bowll. You can flush the paper, instead of throwing out sponges or rags. You're the first person I've seen doing the same thing. 😊
I like the hanger hack. For shining refrigerators, faucets, counter tops ,stoves and a lot of other things. Have you ever heard of Jubilee kitchen wax? It also makes cleaning easier the next time you clean. 🙂
I used to use new toothbrushes from dollar tree to clean toys at the daycare I worked at. My boss realized this and started providing them for cleaning. They get into the tiny toy crevices so well!
Why buy new toothbrushes, why not just use older ones that you no longer use for teeth?
@@lauraoh8048 that would be highly unsanitary to use used toothbrushes to clean baby toys that will likely be put into mouths 😉
I’ve been doing the hanger trick (#14) for years. Works like a charm.
Me, too! Mine came out of necessity. During recovery, when I had my hips replaced, I was unable to stand and walk for long periods of time. So when it came to laundry, I simply figured this one out on my own. I also found that shaking t-shirts from the bottom hem and holding at the seams was much more efficient for straightening the shirt out for folding and hanging.
I love it
The dry erase marker on the dryer idea is genius. I ALWAYS forget to hang certain things, and inevitably shrink and ruin most of my husband’s shirts. 😰
We have a separate laundry basket for all shirts that have to hang dry. That way the entire load is stuff that doesn't go in the dryer. Much easier than trying to remember to hang one or two things. The dry erase marker looks like it might work well but I really like keeping those items separate.
@@TheWendy321 I love that idea! That would work so much easier since my husband is on a completely opposite schedule. He can just throw those items in the hang basket. Thank you!
I’m going to need to watch it again and take notes. Great tips!! 🎉
The bread tags!😮 We need them made with flashing lights when they hit the baseboard
All my "do not dry" items go in wash bags, which is where they mostly go anyway because I don't want them rubbing/stretching among the general population in the wash. I do also put all socks in wash bags for loss-prevention, but obviously you can tell which bag that is during transfer and go ahead and throw that one in to dry.
I do wash bags for a lot of my hang-to-dry shirts, too. I have a lot of identical ankle socks (the ones that come in a pack of six pairs or more) so I got a pack of big safety pins and I pin them together when I take them off. They're already paired when they come out of the dryer and each pair wears out at roughly the same rate. (I've tried the bag for socks but some of them would always still be slightly damp and then I'd have to put them back in.)
Eggs made in an instant pot peel like a dream! Lots of great tips and tricks. Thanks Kallie. 🎉🎉
You have the best videos. The content is good and you get right to the point.
Love this! My fave was the picture-hanging hack, I've seen variations before but I like this the most! ❤
❤ You can also use a pencil eraser to remove rust spots on knives.
I will be grabbing an outdoor broom like the one you show for cleaning the shower floor! We had our shower (actually, it was the entire master bathroom) remodeled. The shower from when the house was built was a boxy yellow color (late 1960s-early 1970) was hideous, so the contractors tore it out. They were able to remove this tiny corner cubby, which allowed us a larger shower with thin type shower wall pieces going over the wet room drywall & the shower floor with heavy water barrier & base with grouted tile. The whole bathroom is beautiful, esp the extra roomy shower! It is becoming more & more difficult for me to get down on all fours to scrub the tile. I’ll be buying a detergent fillable dish scrubber for the shower walls & the bathtubs.
Thanks for all the cleaning hacks, but esp so for the ones above. I’m mid-50ish, heavy on the -ish. Any cleaning hack that makes life easier is worth it.
Use napkins soaked with lemon juice to remove rust, if you don't have enough lemon or big glass
Absolutely in love with the use of the word "exfoliant" instead of "abrasive" 😂😂 i am a professional house cleaner and a couple years ago one of my customers asked how i clean her stove and i called bar keepers friend "stove exfoliater"
I love you simplified, common sense living ideas. THANK YOU!!!
Best home hacks video I've seen to date! Keep up the great work Kallie!
A rice- filled sock is also good as a heating pad. Just heat up in the microwave.
You can also make larger rice socks with essential oils and heat in the microwave as a reusable heating pad.
You are amazing…at first I thought I would miss a lot because you talk so fast, but that nit the case because you speak clearly. Lots of tips! 🌹😊
I Really like all your videos and ideas. You move along & get so many things in one video. Your ideas are so helpful. Thanks for sharing all your ideas. Have a great week.😊
I got an electric cordless scrubber that comes with a bunch of attachments. It was pretty inexpensive and makes cleaning the tub much easier!
Me too since my shoulders are shot!
Great if it doesn't bother you to bend over, hence the broom
I love the tips about the dish wand for the shower, the steaming corn in the cooler (WOW!), and the glue stick and the glue gun! Genius! And, of course, all the other tips! Thanks for sharing!
Would have liked more quick comments on where to find some of the items. I hate online ordering so if a local store has them it wound be easier to know that. Like the rechargeable light bulbs, didn't know there was such a thing!
6:38 Another thing that you can do with the rice and essential oil is use it as heat pad. Pop it in a microwave for 30 seconds and you get yourself a heat pad. Essential oil is optional :)
I’ve done the hanger thing forever. It definitely seems to save time.
My friend owns his own business and large part of what they do is shower glass/doors. He said you should not use the squeegee on the glass because it actually makes your glass worse by pushing micro particles into the glass rather than just removing extra water. They have a particular cleaning you can use instead.
A bag for plastic bags. I bought a long handmade bag with openings on both ends, finished with an elasticated hem. You can put the plastic bags in the same way you have shown. It can be stored hanging on the back of a door
I love that “custom fabric softener sponge” trick!!! Thanks so much for sharing
Per previous comments, please don’t do this. Fabric softener is flammable. I just throw a clean dry bath towel (which I keep on top of the dryer) to fluff the clothes.
👍👍👍
Gonna try that waxed paper hack! Brilliant!
I put rolling casters on our appliances and then my son was yelling “the blender is running away from me!!!” The blender was too powerful and rolled itself all over the counter😂😂
I love the hot glue gun tip! Super smart!
Many if not all of your hacks will be helpful in cleaning as well as my budget because many of the tools are already here in my house. The lost sock and bread tag scenario was very funny and a great change in your dialogue keeping your presentation interesting. Thinking about the lost sock and bread tag will brighten my day😊😊Thank you for sharing your hacks. I look forward to other interesting information..
It's amazing how many things I've found to do with those DT wands that you can stick all the attachments to. I dust my walls, ledges above doors, vents, they're good for quick spill clean up or getting under furniture to dust. Ceiling fans, baseboards. Anything basically you'd need to reach or bend down to clean
Love all your ideas!! 😊 I would love to know how you store your cleaning brushes and toothbrushes after you use them. I need a system for that!
Dollar tree has a cup holder with lid along with toothbrushes that I use. I use permanent markers on handles to identify use. Also after use, soak in hydrogen peroxide to sanitize.
I like to use color to identify things.
Red for "toxic" use only.
Like for cleaning toilets or using with chemical cleaners.
So I would only use red toothbrushes for "dirty" cleaning.
(Red kitchen utensils for raw meat)
And then, I do not use any red toothbrushes for brushing teeth.
My toilet cleaning routine: I use the Clorox toilet gel. I apply it inside the toilet up along the rim and let it sit while I clean the outside of the toilet (rim, outside of the bowl, seat (both sides), lid (both sides), and tank. Then I take my toilet brush and scrub the inside of the bowl. After the first scrubbing, I flush. Then I take an antibacterial wipe and put over my toilet brush to scrub under the rim. It gets the gunk the toilet brush misses and I just toss the wipes when I'm done. It usually takes at least a couple of wipes to get under the rim clean.
Love: Bread tags/Sox created a community where they live happily living off the land. Sooo cute
I love the mini rollers. We put them on our air fryer. I think I’ll put them on my Vitamix next. I use this little gadget for I got on Amazon for bread they work amazingly well.
You are seriously brilliant. So many great ideas. Always love you. I’m gonna watch this one again. Three little ones and you still find time to produce this amazing video. Your a super mommy for sure! Xo 💖💄👄
So far I love the DIY dryer sheets and the hanging clothes hacks. I think these will save me time and money!! Thank you!
the cooking corn in a plastic cooler concerns me because the plastic has chemicals that can leach into our food, especially when it gets hot.
Here's a hack for a big corn roast... Get a deep pot of boiling-hot water. Drop in a pound of butter. It will float to the top. Holding by the stems, dip your cooked cobs in the water. As you pull them out, they get coated in butter.
I love the s'mores "fire pit", brilliant! The other one that is brilliant is the glue gun tip! Thanks for these! 😊
Lol at the slight smile at tip 5 about the shower window. Saying the word ‘husbands’ who may not be cleaning after themselves. I definitely caught a subdued smile!
this has some great tips and tricks! Thanks!!
You are a Cleaning Queen. I'm in my 60's and you have taught me things through out this video that will be so helpful to me and my family. Thank You so much. Please keep the videos coming.
Thank you for your tips. Love the garbage bag command hook and bread bag. I fill my brush with Dawn and vinegar to scrub shower doors while my conditioner is working. I throw some Apple Cider vinegar in the bleach section of my washer when I wash blankets if anyone has dogs that use your couch blankets or sleep on the bed. I use the scrub side of Lysol scrubbing wipes for my sink for removing the dirt, grit, grime and it actually gives it a good shine too plus its antibacterial
These tips are fantastic !!! and a lot of new ideas on here as well - thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing. So many amazing hacks I can now use. I love the light bulb where do you purchase them. I live in a older home & this would definitely work.
I never use super fresh eggs to hard boil, use older eggs (just before their expiration), they tend to peel easier (at least for me). Also rolling any citrus around on the counter softens the rind and helps produce more juice.
Wow! That's a lot of handy tips! Thank you!
I've been hanging tops that way for years. Never thought of it as a hack, but it really is 😊
My boiled egg hack: buy precooked, peeled boiled eggs in the dairy section. Worth every cent. I'll never boil eggs again.
Love your smores and glue stick hacks!
The hot glue one is so genius. I should have already known that. Lol
