    Hey Andy, another good video, really well explained. I always wondered how roof bars fitted to a car without a gutter or a roof strip (my old astra had 4 slots in the roof itself). My bike carrier hooks onto the hatch and the bikes sit across the rear window. It's a ok arrangement but whenever I've seen a car with the roof system I've thought it's quite neat, although I quite like that I don't have to worry about the extra height, I can quite imaging driving into the garage with forgetting to take the bikes off the roof!
    I would certainly recommend a little piece of cloth under each of the roof mounts just for a little bit of extra paint protection.

      Thanks for the comment Martin, the racks live permanently on the roof of my car, the problem with a bit of cloth or rubber pads they tend to trap dust and grit and then abrade the paint. With the bare and therefore smooth clamps in place they prevent the grit from getting in and keep a firm hold on the roof without then trapping grit in there. Low bridges are always a concern lol but having bikes stick out the sides when mounted on the back is also a concern

    Hello! Do you have a link to the 3-door roof bars from Fiat? The Amazon link in the video description leads to some bars that say they’re for models of 2012 onwards, mine’s a 2006 model

    • @PuntoHowto
      @PuntoHowto  Před rokem

      Roof bars that fit a 2012 Punto should fit any Punto Grande, Evo as well as they are the same shell of the car with only cosmetic differences. If you are not sure I'd advise contacting the sellers to get their advice.

    Bonus point if you can tell me if this will fit the Abarth Punto Evo? 🙂

    • @PuntoHowto
      @PuntoHowto  Před 3 lety +1

      No reason it shouldn’t it’s the same 3 door body, even having the full glass roof shouldn’t matter because it came with rubber feet shaped to fit the glass roof.
      What can I spend my bonus point on?

    Quick question for you, I have water ingress into my boot’s wheel well and I keep having to keep draining it out. Mine is fitted with the air pump/tyre weld, no spare wheel, just has the plastic moulded compartment in there. I have had all the panels on the interior of the boot out but can’t see where it is coming in. It comes in while the car is on the drive not moving so it’s not from underneath. I want to fit a spare wheel into the wheel well but can’t until I solve this. The boot rubber seal looks ok. Have you come across this yourself or have any ideas ?

    • @PuntoHowto
      @PuntoHowto  Před 4 lety

      Quite often with these car it comes from the rear lights not being fitted properly and so not sealing against the body work. That’s where I’d recommend to look

    • @memybikeni9931
      @memybikeni9931 Před 4 lety

      @@PuntoHowto interesting, I did take one of the lights off as I saw a drip coming from one side down into the boot, but couldn’t for the life of me see how it was getting past the light. Not sure if the seals on those are replaceable.

    Do you think a bike could fit inside of the fiat punto?

    • @PuntoHowto
      @PuntoHowto  Před 3 lety

      Yes easily with the back seats down and you’d probably need to take at least one of the wheels off, I have mountain bikes and take them off road so don’t want the mud all over the inside of the car

    Hello, do you think it would fit a Punto that has sunroof? Like this one on this link: bestcars.uol.com.br/bc/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Fiat-Punto-Sporting-01.jpg

    • @PuntoHowto
      @PuntoHowto  Před 3 lety

      It would as it comes with rubber feet for attaching it to cars with a sunroof, however the sunroof would not be operable with the roof bars in place.
