How To Take Body Measurements For Clothes

Are you ready to buy fabric for your next sewing project? You can do it! This video will show you the proper way to take measurements to determine how much fabric you need to buy.
Consult the sewing pattern you're using to find out which measurements you need to take, then use a fabric measuring tape to accurately measure the bust, waist, hips, shoulders, and back length, or any other measurements the pattern requires. If you're measuring yourself, have someone help you to ensure the most accurate measurement. Write down the measurements, then consult the pattern to find your size. This will determine how many yards of fabric you will need to buy. Remember, if you've selected a fabric with a visual pattern or design, you should buy a little extra to account for matching the design at the seams to make it look professional and cohesive.
