I feel like being labelled as a 'Tiktok Artist' is a fate worse than being labelled an influencer.
Or worse, when you make a banger song and some guy comes up to you and says 'Oh that song is from Tiktok.'
At that point I'm either logging out of life or swapping teams from Earth to Jesus.
if i had a gun with two bullets , and im stuck with a " its that song from tictok " , a " its that guy from fortnight " and a " i identify as a MAP " , i would shoot myself twice
Jesus made a mistake adding humanity
Some girl I saw in a video where the interviewer asks what song they're listening to said "Rasputin, the song from TikTok" and I instantly wanted to die.
The worst part is you didnt even post it on tiktok someone just stole it and put it there. But maybe thats the good ending atleast others wont see youre identity attached to a tiktok song. hooray
i might as well vent some shit. i opened tiktok for the first time as curiosity, expecting that it was just gonna be some pathetic shit, and oh my lord i didnt expect to see humanity so unfiltered to that degree. I thought my feed at the very most feel like ai generated, lifeless, and boring, but the shit that i saw makes me wanna solo skin myself slowly just to find a more dignifying pain. IT WAS SO SAD that i had to do a reality check to see if im real because those peeps in tiktok isnt. Its like if twitter was video format heavy and was constantly having epilepsy. I wont be sleeping at nights if i see that tiktok feed as my sleep paralysis demon. AND PEOPLE USE THIS AS MEDIUM FOR SOCIALIZATION!? Being on tiktok is just voluntarily giving yourself adhd. AND PEOPLE BE USING THIS AS SOURCE OF SCIENTIFIC INFO!? i bet someone would make an ironical take how the world is not spherical but instead phalic. AND I ALREADY FUCKIN SEE CHILDREN,TODLERS, INFANTS, AND FETUSES THERE LIKE!?!? Im just 18 and this shit just making me feel like a boomer already, its like living in a world in the verge of shifting into a 4th dimensional reality. help.
edit: forgot to add, if you have a tiktok account, im classifying that as a cry for help. Shit's worse than drugs. You should only cope against tiktok not use it as a cope itself because aint no way god can pull something more regretful than that it requires "tiktok", and if there is, that dread would be enough to just stop your very will to breathe and just suffocate.

I guess it's because I'm old (elder millenial) but when I hear songs on TikTok that catch my interest I go and listen to the whole song. I love Doja Cat and know the lyrics to all of her songs that I love. It's a shame kids are missing 90% of the music they're consuming.
Nah youâre doing it right. Kids donât appreciate songs anymore.
I do that too, because there are genuinely a lot of good songs that are popularized by tiktok, such as Notion, Golden Hour, Backyard Boys, Dark Red, among many others
Im gen z (aka said kids) and I don't just go listen to the one song, I browse the entire discography to find more songs that I like
It feels like these kids never use any other apps. If you like a trending song why wouldn't you want to listen to more of it?
Iâm a Zoomer and I do that.

This is another reason why the Gorillaz concert in Toronto a few weeks ago was so amazing. Gorillaz is not even close to being mainstream on tiktok or mainstream in general, so everyone who showed up to the concert was a diehard fan and knew every single one of the songs. Literally everytime a new song played, the audience screamed and started singing the lyrics.

Honestly. Not to like change the subject of the actual video, but social media can be used to someoneâs advantage in various ways. For example, âexposingâ someone of crimes they didnât commit, portraying negative topics in a positive light (I.e. Jeffrey Dahmer and his fan girls.) or just controlling what gets on the news and what doesnât (I.e white on black crime is more mainstream than black on black crime).

I thought about this phenomenon this summer when I randomly watched a billboard concert in my country airing on TV. They invited Madeline the Person who blew up in april/may and this concert was in June. I thought she was super popular and stuff, but most of the audience were teens and only sang the first half of the song's chorus. Afterwards it was dead silent and even though Madeline was all happy anyway I still felt a bit bad for her since the song is very singable.
I also went to an Aurora concert during a festival in August. Being a long-time fan of her, I sang and danced through all of her songs. I also didn't film much of the concert since I've attended her concerts before and wanted to enjoy the moment. So when she started performing Runaway, A LOT of young people who seemed like not wanting to be there beforehand started cheering, sang only during the chorus and pulled their phone to record THE WHOLE SONG. I think some of them also LEFT after the song was over, I can't remember. The energy afterwards fell down and were only held up by the actual fans and the people who just wanted to enjoy one of the best artists in Norway. I would never go to a concert if I only know a snippet of one popular song, then it's not as intimate anymore, truly saddening.
This is beyond true. My TikTok loving friend went to an AJR concert and people only knew that one small part from Worldâs Smallest Violin, silence the rest of the time.
I, on the other hand, went to a concert with Green Day, Weezer, and Fall out boy. All of them were bands that were popular before TikTok, and everyone knew every song word by word. Iâm so glad I donât have TikTok.

that's something I've noticed recently,
let's take two examples here, the blow up of "Master of Puppets" by Metallica & "Mary on a Cross" by Ghost.
What do these both have in common? They both blew up due to popular media (Tiktok & Stranger Things). I remember someone in my class saying "yeah I'm a fan of Ghost" and I asked him what songs does he know since I thought "oh hell yeah, finally I have someone else to talk to about Ghost" and then he went on and say "oh I only know Mary on a Cross". See now here's the thing, I don't think Mary on a Cross is even that good of a Ghost song, if anything it's kinda mid. I think songs like Dance Macabre, Call Me Little Sunshine, Rats, Nocturnal Me and so many more songs sound better.
And should I even begin on how dumb the Stranger Things & Metallica controversy was. Hell I'd say that's a whole different can of worms entirely.
(I apolagize for this long ass essay I spat out, it just annoys me so much whenever people do shit like this, also I'm not trying to hate on people who found out about Ghost or Metallica through those forms of media and genuinely like their music or just one of those songs, all I'm saying is that it annoys me so much whenever someone says they're a fan of a band and only know one of their songs)
Tiktok has ruined the ability to find other actual ghost fans
Itâs just one of those things where people seem to not realize liking one song or a snippet of a song is not a fan. At best, youâve heard of them. I would rather have 15 entire band discographies, that nobody has heard, rather than have 15 seconds of a song blow up
the editing is *chefs kiss*
I literally made a thread ini IG story about this ever since dont start now by dua lipa is being a hit (like early til mid 2020). Crazy how the points that I made are kind of the same wit this vid.
Rockin with you man, keep makin more provocative and truth opening videos like this!
Steve lacy is so good. Him being called "blown up by tiktok" is crazy
Man I am glad I've never been stupid enough to download that app.
You got a phd in maturity my guy
@@kllaterall and you got phd in comedy
same
No ur missing out you should definitely download it bc itâs rlly not that bad as people make it out to be bug just stay away from toxicity I actually rlly like the app lol and thereâs a lot of funny stuff on there ok just get it for like one day bro and tell me what u think
@@kllaterall ppl w/o TikTokâs probably use CZcams shorts đđ
The solution is for artists to make music that connects with people and not worry about numbers over artistry, especially tiktok numbers. And the key for audiences is to seek out music they connect with and not some 10sec dance jingle, or rather a full song that's been reduced to that. Sucks for Steve because he's been grinding for years and years and definitely has always aimed to make genuine, soulful music.
I feel like one of the rare cases of an artist actually making a real career from blowing up on TikTok is JVKE. Most of the time like Tommy stated itâs just one hit wonders or one lyric wonders and only part of their song blows up, but JVKE actually made a career out of it, getting put on the radio and even making a song for a movie, which is really cool because heâs really talented and even his lesser known songs slap harder than my dad
nah that steve lacy concert clip made me so mad. these npcs pulling up to this mans concert, he worked hard on those songs and practiced, just for them to not even bother to learn the lyrics. its so upsetting and so annoying.
Fake "fans" are genuinely the worst, what the point of buying an expensive ticket just to sing only 1 verse and just stop? Steve Lacy deserve better.
@@QuiVierge exactly. real steve lacy fans couldâve gone to that concert but the fakes got there first
I dont get the point of buying tickets to a guys concert, to which you dont even know 2 verses of his most popular song. Did they expect him to just say 'I wish I knew" Over and over? I just dont get it.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't know much songs of Steve Lacy tho I'll check him out later but, ain't no way I'm buying a ticket just to not even know half of the songs, like who let these kids have money, poor guy

I was meant to go to a Steve Lacy concert a couple weeks ago, and the tickets were sold out. Iâm pretty upset that people only went to go to that concert for that one verse
Bad habits is a song that reached NUMBER ONE and only has like 40 mil views on CZcams⊠that proves everything
as a music artist with a negative ammount of popularity, being that one guy who made that one twitter song is something i see in my nightmares
I'll hear a good song on the Radio or at work and I'll go to CZcams to look it up. Its so odd how common it is to see "TikTok Song" in the title now.
The short attention span is real... it's crazy how people can't listen to a 4 min song. In the end of it all this is manufactured to make us mindless and uncritical consumers (even more than we already are)
i fcn love your editing
Tommy when you upload I wait until I get the most delectable food to eat while watching such a masterful film đ„can't wait to watch this after I cook
Ive heard almost all of Steve Lacyâs songs only about 5 times each and can remember more than what these âfansâ can
I may have gotten into Cochise from TikTok but he makes some damn good music and heâs now my favorite rapper
Bro i just found this channel and its goated
5:02 This is probably the main reason u don't see alot of Public preformences from yeat,I heard alot of people were expecting him at rolling loud and it makes sense he didn't come when this could happen
i bet there was a nigga in steve lacy's crowd that knew the rest of the lyrics
but didnt sing because they didnt want to be the only one singing
Wow so much I learned here broo
Great video..
7:42 this is too real bro iâm subbing đ
for the concert thing i connected with it. i am a real fan of cochise i got like 17 songs from him in my go to playlist. i loved bro music. i considered go to the concert and people only sang for hatchback and tell em. i wanted to cry. if i was not supporting bro i would never go to one of his concert again. it was not him, its just the people there fr
I discovered Arizona Zervas a few years back through his song called "No i in team" and I was so happy Roxanne blew up since he was really underrated. Sucks that it went downhill from there.
Youâre contributing a lot my bro
As someone who listens to steve lacy (and knows the lyrics of bad habit) the clip of him on the stage just broke my heart; heâs an amazing artist and seeing how little people actually love and appreciate his music outside of tiktok is disappointing
your editing is on point
tommy can talk about different types of rocks for an hour and iâll still watch it
You made me find some cool new artists to listen to. Steve Lacyâs other songs are great
