They set up the MLS exactly like MLB/NFL/NBA with divisions and a draft. They tweak MLS here and there, but it's still an exclusive league without promotion/relegation. And it's boring. Just like MLB/NFL/NBA is boring. The European model would do them wonders. I'm an American and I love the European model. I can't watch American sports anymore. It took me a few years to fully understand things like relegation, divisions, national teams and the transfer market, but it's 1000x better. I haven't looked back since the 94 World Cup. Boehly has been very successful in the MLB so of course he's going to be clueless about how this "league" works. It might take him a while but I fully expect him to come around. I hope so anyway.

an All star model works in leagues where you have two equivalent top tiers, the classic being baseball where the players represent either the National or American league and it has a rivalry factor which is embedded deep into the sport- the interest in that also stems from the fact that until recently the top players from either league wouldn't necessarily compete with each other, as interleague play was so rare. So it was a chance to see the best in the sport head to head. Not the case with the premier league where there are 20 teams in one division that play each other twice a season, an 'All star' game wouldn't bring much and would not be too dissimilar from an international tournament in actuality.

Todd Boehly needs to curb his enthusiasm, he’s said more in his first 100 days than Roman Abramovich did in 20 years.
The EPL has been a growing success long before American owners. The problem is, these new Americans think that the biggest and greatest sport in the world, Football, has a price tag and they just want to sign the cheque that buys Football and ensures their own personal prosperity while the game we love deteriorates without a care.

Why can't they do that? Put it in place of the Charity Shield (do we really need to see premier league winners vs fa cup winners every year?).
