A Chelsea fan, a Spurs fan, a PR guru, a New York banker and a member of the House of Lords.
Following sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, Chelsea football club looks to have found new owners - a consortium led by Todd Boehly.
But who is he? And who are the other members of the consortium?

Joe Devine (the usual narrator) hasn't left Tifo, he had a two week holiday. Videos recored in that time are narrated by Ian Machintos. Joe will be back soon.

Thank you Alex The Platypus
Awesome handle and picture, Alex.
Oh thank goodness! sorry Mr. McIntosh, we're just not ready to lose Mr. Devine yet.

As a Chelsea fan, I hope this marks the end of us blindly splashing money on unnecessary signings. I hope we adopt Liverpool’s model of signing players who actually “fit” the system. The fact that Boehly uses data to identify the best solutions is certainly a good sign!
Edit: Wow..aged well innit? Hahaaa
The Liverpool part scares me the fact that they don't go out and spend much money and they don't back klopp enough would rather hear a city approach because they are same way sign players that will fit Peps system and also aren't afriad to splash cash
Arsenal owner says hi lol
@@mcp008 yes of course you'd rather have oil money you spoiled chelsea fan brat
@@mcp008 I think Klopp has been backed fairly well, especially in the last couple of seasons. Moreover it’s about spending right mate. Man City paid 100 mil quid for Grealish whereas Liverpool got both Jota and Diaz for nearly the same. You get my point? Man City’s model isn’t bad but then again their Sheikhs are EXTREMELY generous.
@@kamaaladiin those are idiots, unlike Boehly
This is literally the only person that should have bought Chelsea. For all that think he will turn Chelsea into something like the Glazers did with United, they are wrong. Dude has bult consistently winning franchises in the States. As an example the Dodgers have spent big on free agents but also has done a fantastic job keeping their farm system relevant(Akin to an academy) Which is hard for a winning organization. The lineup they have this year is arguably one of the best baseball has every seen. Additionally, PSG's payroll is around $350,000,000 a year and the Dodgers is $300,000,000, so he's not scared to spend and spend big for the best product he can put on the field. Really, I just hope he will stick with tommy and give him the keys to build the team he wants, like, city and liverpool have done with pep and klopp. Really sick of the revolving door, stability would be nice for a change.
Most Americans aren't afraid to spend big if it means they will actually compete. Unfortunately there are a lot of owners that don't know when they actually have the opportunity to compete and either missed their chance because they were too scared or spend big when they didn't have a shot anyway
The problem with most American owners is that they’re unwilling to do what it takes to be on top season after season. Even the best American sports teams take the foot off the gas after winning a championship, and seem fine with finishing in 8th place the next season (due to a postseason playoff system). If Man City, Bayern, or Real Madrid finishes 3rd next season, it would be considered an absolute disaster. But when the Tampa Bay Lightning (back to back NHL champions) finished 6th this season, their fans were totally ok with it.
I feel good about the new owner he will bring cups back to Chelsea again properly. Spend on data and bulid new stadium 70k fans.
This man should hire you. You are a great pr and wonderful spokesman.
@@OkayyTV188 The flaw with that argument is that the NFL, NHL, and NBA all have a salary cap, there's only so much you can do when every team has the same financial constrictions. However, in the MLB there is no cap, it really comes down to how much your wiling to spend and how smart people are in acquiring young talent. This mirrors What we see in Football much better. Also, people in Tampa Bay actually watch Hockey? that's interesting.
I’ve spoken to Chelsea fans right after the news of Boehly’s bid and they didn’t know whether the club will have an FSG type owner or a Kronke\glazer family type if the deal goes through. According to this video, Chelsea will be managed by a abromovich/fsg hybrid management and I think that’s the best Chelsea fans can hope for.
He will definitely be judged this summer!
As far as I know Dodgers spends alot and he said in an interview 2 years ago that to be successful you have to win. So I think he will spend but this time we will also target some under the radar signings.
You can never predict the future but Boehly is not in any way like the Glazer’s.
I disagree...... The UK Media dumbs it down b/c they do not understand financials.... FSG paid $300m, Kroenke paid $500M, Glazer Borrowed $800M - all those clubs earn 500- 600 Million pounds a year in Revenue (same as Chelsea) those clubs are Cash machines for those Owners.... Boehly's group spent $5 BILLION! These men: Boehly (Eldridge Indutries) Marc Walter (Guggenhiem Partners) Behdad Eghbali (Clearlake) own Capital Investment Corporations that control a combined $400 Billion in Capital - in other words these are very smart people in the world of Finance.....
These men don't spend $5 Billion in cash so they can see a $500 Million Revenue return on Investment -
In finance there is a saying - you make your Profit when you BUY not when you SELL - meaning the price you pay determines the outcome
Boehly's group paid a Premium for Chelsea - they did NOT get a Deal - it would take them a DECADE just to make their own Money back before they earned One dollar in profit & that's not how these men move
So that should tell people these motha ucka's are here to spend & Win - just like the Dodgers & the Lakers & don't believe the FSG bull ish - the dodgers & lakers both have the highest payroll in their respective sports
They will def use Data & explore revenue streams but Abramovich already did all that - that's why Chelsea's academy is so strong & win so many major trophies.....the FSG story was to make UK Gov & Media believe Chelsea were going to be taken down a peg - which was their goal the whole time - but that's not what Boehly's goal are..... they have the Dodgers set up to win every year & they''ll do the exact same thing at Chelsea & they have No salary cap to worry about
FSG is nothing great either. If they are the high bar for what American ownership can achieve then it's chilling to imagine what the rest will be up to.
Fun fact for all the gamers: Boehly also owns Cloud9, one of the biggest eSports organisations in NA.
I don't know too much football, but I have followed the MLB very closely for the past decade and the dodgers have been on the cutting edge of advancement. They are one of the best if not the best club at player development, and when they spend on players they usually spend on the right ones as newly minted freddie freeman who they just gave a 175 million dollar contract to has been their best player statistically as they currently sit atop their division.
How do you think the Dodgers have been smart with their spending exactly, and do they mix signing stars with youth? And how have they treated their fans and built on their brand?
@@fahdahmed5331 I personally can't answer those questions cause I don't watch the MLB but I hear that Todd Boehly plans to replicate Liverpools style of transfers. Very deliberate signings, less emphasis on big names and focus on developing good talents for bargin prices. It's pretty much the oppisite of Abromavic's approach. I think it's ultimately for the better because if there was one major drawback under the Abromavic error is that there wasn't much longevity with squads as we almost had to rebuild after every new coach.
and the glazers just won the super bowl
@@andrei19238 NFL is different from the MLB
@@fahdahmed5331 In 2018/19 they let a couple notable players leave in the form of yasmani grandal and hin-jin ryu who are older but still productive. they replaced those 2 with will smith and dustin may/tony gonslin who were almost able to match their production and are both about 6-7 years younger and cheaper. With the savings they spent big on mookie betts who is one of the top 5-10 players in the sport and it paid off as they won the championship in his first season. As for fan expirence i'd say its pretty good. They recently spent a lot on upgrading dodger stadium and thus they won the rights to host the all star game this year which is kind of like the ucl final for us.
Ian and Joe offer a different style of narration and I wouldn't mind if they changed in and out, but Joe's a human like the rest of us, so he's entitled to annual leave. People seem to forget that.
No he’s not. Just kidding. It is nice to know that they have very good narrators and not only Joe
Us loyal tifotees will not let Joe shirk his duty and abandon his post until he is in the cool hands and the warm embrace of death.
I don't know how you can assert that Joe is a human with such confidence
As an Arsenal fan I’m very jealous of Chelsea on this one, if only Kroenke was half as attentive and astute as this guy then we wouldn’t be where we are today
Things have definitely changed since Kroneke got full ownership. With Josh at the helm seemingly, but reins given to Edu and co, I think we are much better off nowadays. This season shows we really are on the way back up
I'm a Rams fan. If the snake decides to care about the team, he'll definitely do. The team was probably the best managing their finances, allowing room for fantastic players with little cap space and trading the "future" for more immediate success. Hes attentive and astute, a lot I'd say, but he doesn't see Arsenal as a priority.
@@chiggsytube this is the man who said “we don’t understand the fandom in England”, sorry but Kroenkes need to go
Arsenal are yesterdays newspaper , had a spurt but now its all just a far gone memory !
The fact that the Rams won the Super Bowl while letting Arsenal be mediocre at best just shows where Kroenke's priorities are.
To think Ken Bates bought the club for £ 1 back in the day
1 pound under the condition that he had to shoulder the club's mountain debts
Man Ken Bates did a lot for football
Ken Bates saved chelsea.
Ayo please don't criticise the narrator he's doing such a good job idk what's the problem

If Chelsea is gonna be run anything close to how the Dodgers are run, the other top teams in the Premier League will be in for a rude awakening.

Can we appreciate the quality of videos from TIFO! I eagerly wait for each new video. As a passionate Chelsea fan, I loved this video, but all other videos are equally appealing . Great job TIFO!
BARCA
I have literally wondered since I was a child why ESPN always had 360 camera views that could rotate since the 2000s and no other big sport has it yet now. Great video as usual.
A Chelsea fan, a Spurs fan, a PR guru, a New York banker and a member of the House of Lords walked into Stamford Bridge...
I like Ian’s narration. It sounds like he’s older brother figure who’s passionately explaining something to me.
It feels like the old tifo videos
I find the way be emphasises certain words in sentences really distracting, but otherwise yes, he's pretty good.
I personally wanted to see a bit more on Clearlake as they're they major players here but this was interesting
They play in a lot of spaces, particularly Software & Technology.
I hope Boehly has a better scout team so we don't les go more Salahs or KDBs or Abrahams.
I think the scouts did a great job of recruiting those players, but at the end of the day it's the manager's duty to play them and unlock their potential.
Most club has those types of players. With KDB staying, hazard doesn't come.
@@JamesHussain82 Bro thats waffle. Hazard and KDB were signed in the same summer after we won the ucl in 2012. Hazard was then given a starring role in the team and kdb was initially loaned out to werder bremen
@@Mega316I fair enough. He had to leave because he wasn't good enough to get in the team and wanted to go back to Germany. Its nothing to do with scouting.
As for Tammy, hes another player who just isn't good enough.
@@JamesHussain82 yeah my point was that hazard would've come to chelsea regardless. Nothing to do with kdb
I'm so glad I watched this video. I had uncertainty about Bohely, but I think I'm going to like him. Roll on next season!
You don't need to keep saying billion with a capital B everytime
I hope Chelsea doesn’t end up with a Glazer like problem. Abramovic was a fantastic owner
This ain't as divine without the voice of Joe Devine...
Iain?!? Delighted to hear you on this video, my FM hero!
Ian doing a great job while Joe's away
Two words Absolutely Superb , love the breakdown and explanation.
The stadium part is really cool, a world class stadium will definitely make Stamford bridge a fortress and every football fan's dream
Hello! Thank you for the video. Can you make a similar one about RedBird Capital Partners and AC Milan?
What happened to Joe Devine? This guy sounds like an American actor doing an impersonation.
That’s Ian Lmaoo
I’m assuming this was recorded during the two weeks when Joe was on holiday
Sounds Australian
I couldn't agree more - Lets have Joe back please. . .
We are ready for Joe😅
We want Joe, I don't need to carry placards for protesting.
This didnt end well i must say
The LA Dodgers is basically the Chelsea of MLB, so he fits perfectly.
Why do you say that? I'm hoping this is true but what are your reasons
They are like the big spenders it think
@@rashidkhalid3970 not just dodgers. Anyone could take over a baseball team and spend big

CS First Boston isn't "now known as Credit Suisse". They have been the investment banking branch of Credit Suisse and still are today, they have simply dropped the name.
More competitive the competition gets better it is for the game and the fans .
Does this make it more competitive? One of the richest clubs staying rich
@@pa0mafeurtadott777 atleast the duoply will get challenged. Every team in the PL is either state owned , owned by a consortium/hedge fund or just straight up a billionaire so every team is rich . It's just how well the money is managed by the club officials and how much the owner is willing to shell out . It is not the best case(fan owned clubs like in Germany and the Spanish giants) but the lesser of two evils( hegemony of one rich team V/S all rich teams competing)
@@brajeshwarthakur9001 yeah I get what ur saying. Suppose I'm saying our view of competitiveness has changed from before the prem where teams would constantly rise and fall
yeah relegation is now really competitive
Ah, another cheeky bit of Macintosh. You love to see it.
I think the intro on Todd Boehly is a bit misleading as to his roots. Landon School is a private East Coast boarding school that currently charges $40,000 a year in tuition for grades 3-12. That's more than the majority of people pay for 1 year of college (with loans and financial aid). College of William & Mary is an elite East Coast college popular with the old-money East Coast elites. So while he may have "struggled to get into finance" he clearly had some pretty important connections in his network that even good students from less elite backgrounds would never have had.
i like ians narrations its a nice change of pace. wouldnt mind if we got a few vids with him on subjects he would like to talk about
Yes
Does anyone know if key personalities such as granovskaya remain?
For the short term absolutely they will be but, I don’t think he can get rid of Marina, I predict that she will stay as negotiator but will lose her director status because we’re going to bring in a more technical staff
@@christianphilipmosley2727sounds reasonable, i hope she stays
Unfortunately yes. But she along with Buck need to go. They are terrible at transfers. And Marina being good at negotiations is a myth.
I hope we can finally give a manager time things are looking good
Very informative thanks ✌️🇬🇧
I think beohley will want Chelsea to copy Tottenham make stamford more multi-purpose stadium making it NFL 2nd home from home
Wow, must feel great to have The Collector own Chelsea.
I've been a Chelsea fan since 2009 and after drogba our football hero is Diego Costa winnind the league premier league was easy for him he adapts best to our football
“ The Glazers have bought Chelsea “ that would have been the biggest prank ever
0:28 It's not Joe that's for sure. It's Ian Macintosh
So will pulisic stay ?? I heard somewhere that he was the only player featured in some brochure. Is that true?
Only real negative for Chelsea (and football imo) is this want to have the stadium as an events arena or somewhere people stay longer. Leaving Upton Park for an arena was the worst thing that happened to West Ham. Slowly bouncing back, but the atmosphere won't be as good for a long time (if ever).
I dunno. Thats progress, and having the fans stay longer isnt a bad thing
Clearlake Capital is the most important part of the consortium as the majority stakeholder. Another video focussing on them, and their intentions/objectives/strategy would be interesting. They are only investing for profit, nothing else, so it will be interesting to see the change, for better or worse, that brings to Chelsea.
No one can take money out of money for Chelsea so it won’t happen anytime soon
Content is terrific as usual but let’s talk about how good Tifo narrators are 👏🏽 i just want to put their videos on and listen on and on and on
Just realized Ian was the voice behind one of my favorite videos on this Channel....the Sunderland video
This makes me feel like we’re going to get some good news soon??
dodger stadium is the only baseball stadium i’ve been to that shows ads on the jumbotron during inning breaks… for what it’s worth haha
Excellent narration
miss the rough gritty illustration production you guys had going 4 years ago. you got too slick visually i think. wonder why you felt a need to change it
Is this the guy that did the intro for The Scary Door ?
My country a not very footballing country, where arguably Liverpool and Chelsea and Arsenal stand on the same footing commercially and status wise, you can easily find Liverpool jerseys in the nike outlets all over the country in physical stores whereas Chelsea jerseys are off the rack nowhere to be seen. Liverpool jackets and caps all available but not chelsea's
If increasing commercial sales and operating like FSG means I get to see chelsea shirts I am all for it.
The newest comments on this video are brutal, but I agree. Todd Boehly fired Thomas Tuchel, the man that made Chelsea win the Champions League, replaced with Graham Potter and now, made the third place club in the prem 10th with a nice 8-7-8 record while our North-West-London derby rivals, Arsenal are number 1 and more Man City’s rivals than ours.
But hey, if Todd Boehly is the genius like this video is telling me, than maybe Chelsea can run away with the League.
As a Chelsea fan, I like to ask how a club that was 4th then 3rd, are now 10th place smh
no major gripes with who narrates but this guy does sound like he's reading me a bedtime story or teaching a class of 5 year olds haha
But has the sale actually gone through already? I read that Abramovich is blocking it because of the rules by the British government where the money should go.
Nice video chaps!
Hey Tifo are you going to do an AC Milan one of this new owner video or because they are not premier league team it doesn't matter?
This wasn't so clear, i needed to understand more bt i couldn't
Tifo upload on a friday morning... (kettle on)
So what happens to marina and cech?
wait, what? Shouldn't the title be "potential new owners"?
That thumbnail had me thinking Jerry Springer bought the club
When we get sensible transfer for Chelsea?
Starting a petition in America to pronounce Maryland the British way
Thank you Roman
Well, after Tuchell firing and the 'reasons' they gave for it. I think the new owners gonna be looked at different...or just as similar as Abramovich, except it is somehow worse. I mean one of the reasons they gave was ''Coach didn't want to get constantly bombarded with basic football questions'' and ''Why didn't we signed Ronaldo?''... Good luck Chelsea, you gonna need it.
Ngl I like this narrator. Hes the guy who did the Sunderland video right?
This video make boehly or new owner favourable owner, look at chelsea now, disastrous
Ian Macintosh, Lord of the games 😎
Joe on holiday at this time of day, at this time of year? Those bloody steamed hams
If they are like Fenway, they will not move from Stamford Bridge, stuck in a small stadium. Liverpool should have abandoned Anfield a few decades ago. Liverpool could fill a 75-80,000 seater each week. Fenway will not spend.
FRANK IS BACK ❤
I love Ian Macintosh in the podcast format but I would prefer joe or Alex on the these videos
thought it was owen wilson for a second
Only Glazer? What about anti Kroenke clause?😅
interesting to see what happens to chelsea because it takes time to change a culture of extravagant wealth and luxury signings over 20 years. It took fsg many years before they were successful.
Finally Early, keep up the good work.
I’m just here for the music! 🌊🌊🌊
One thing I don't understand is why wasn't the club bought by the government and made into a fan owned club
Because the government doesn’t want to pay- or have to deal with it
Like the Green Bay packers of the NFL
After weeks with no signings....lm here drinking my coffee staring with the corner of my eye, at a paused screen shot (7:17) of Boehly and his goons, just wondering....whats happening..
Almost 8 minute vid to say Barca
Liverpool is able to successful to run in this manner only because of Klopp, who is one of a kind. A manager who succeeds without a huge net spend. Good luck Chelsea. It's not going to be the same. American sports (Dodgers included) are funded by revenues the team generates and only needs to pay the player wages. Yes there is a salary cap and luxury tax, but by in large the amounts of money needed to be successful are far, far less than a top tier football club where players are bought. It's alot different just dropping $125M US on Lukaku (not including wages) than signing a player to a $110M contract that will be spread over 3 seasons and paid for by team revenues.
That’s the thing - signing Lukaku for $120mm is exactly the kind of move the new owners wouldn’t make. $120mm for 8 goals in 26 games is worse value than signing Maguire - actually it’s probably the worst example of football investment you could have picked. If the new owners can avoid signing more Lukakus, Chelsea should be in great hands
This is a good video that i enjoyed and I don’t mind the new commentator, but he puts so much emphasis on such weird and random words😂
This sounds like a prank
This design is brilliant ... 😌👍😜👍😌👍
Whoever drew this , it looks more like Ron white
I like Ian and wouldn’t mind him narrating every once and a while even when Joe comes back, but he needs to work on not over pronouncing words
This video indirectly explain the main problem at man united. Owner.
