Sneakerheads...Got a Question For You?! BE HONEST!

- This question is for anyone into #sneakers and you may not even consider yourself a #sneakerhead but just roll with me here...when it comes to getting rid of your sneakers, is it the idea of knowing you own a specific sneaker, even if you don't wear it, stop you from getting rid of it?! Could be a #jordan #nike or #adidas or any other special pair you own, is it the idea of owning it more than actually using it for its purpose that keeps you from letting go of it?

Donated 55 pairs of random sneakers to a sneaker ball sneakeraiser this past fall, and the relief I got from just seeing my wall cleared out, was just as sentimental as the donation itself.
I believe it!!!!!
I've done the same thing, feels good to pass them on to someone who can get some use out of them.
"The money was lost when you bought it, not when you get rid of it".... brilliant statement
I will always appreciate hearing that from a creator on here
Sometimes that's how it works with collecting sneakers/stuff. I love owning some of my sneakers even though I wear some of them hardly. Just like a card collector doesnt do anything with them'except for looking at them every once in a while. My kids have everything they need, I bought a house, own a nice car, and have some money in my bank account. Sneakers come after that and i enjoy collecting them. And I think everyone whose into sneakers should approach collecting like that!
My exact story…i collect basketball signature shoes…so im proud of whatever i own💪🏻
Same story over here. Financial able to collect. But I'm also at the point where if I'm not wearing it, it should probably go.
Cards have no purpose of being worn though, just to sit there, however I get the sentiment. Some shoes will not get a lot of wear, and many are ok with that. I think others may not be understanding space, and an continuous influx if nothing is being moved out. Being financially sound prior to purchasing pairs should be the standard, much respect to you there.
@@TalksWithTJ Thanks, trying to do my best! I get what you're saying too, sometimes it just feels good just to get rid of stuff!
Man, you just read my SOUL!!! I've only been in the game about 10 years and in the early year, Buying became a form of gambling! I have stuff right now that I bought just to say "GOT 'EM". Your content is always stellar and I appreciate everything you discuss. Thank you, lil sis. Love you!
Thank you so much!!!!!💛
This past year I learned to let go, as soon as I sell I don't even think about it anymore...and now I'm to the point I'm just giving my shoes away for free...it feels good
It feels great!
I agree that sometimes the thought that you own a pair is more exciting to us than actually wearing them. I’ve got a pair of Chicago Air Force One’s that I’ve had for maybe seven years and I’ve probably worn them twice in the past two years. I’ve debated selling them but I like how they look so for now, I’ll hang on to them (plus the toe box is super creased and an aged midsole so I don’t think I’d get much for them).
Might not, could always donate them if you ever decide to let them go
I had 2 pairs of h2h numbered and non numbered. I wore the non numbered a few times then traded them away. I held on to the numbered pair for dear life thinking the value would go up cause they’re limited but all they were doing was collecting dust so I traded them away for pairs I would wear and have worn.
I can see why you held out for them to go up but I think it's good to accept a lot of these shoes won't hold a crazy value for long. Some, sure, but not most. Get what you can from them and enjoy other ones more
Ive been slowly getting rid of pairs, best advice I can give is to take your time (it’s tough to let go 😢) get them posted and put em somewhere where you can’t see them 😂
Mine are off to the side in an entire stand with 5 shelves. And I want them gone ASAP lol. The cleanout needs to be done by end of this year
Living in an apartment, if i'm not trying to keep them DS and I barely wear them. They go straight to ebay for someone to get a steal
Apt living is great for convenience but keeps us in check when it comes to space.
LOVE the honesty & transparency of this video❤️🔥, spot on entire vid!!💯
Truly appreciate the feedback and kind words! Thank you!
Real talk! I actually stopped copping because I already have shoes that i hardly wear lol
It's sad when we look at pairs we bought forever ago that are barely worn
I’ve been selling and donating shoes in the past year. Down to 15 pairs. Realized I don’t need more than 20 pairs, otherwise, they don’t get rotated properly.
RESPECT!
I agree with you I have been looking at pairs I don’t really wear to let them go
There's a freedom in letting them go, at least for me
I wear all my shoes. But I totally understand the collector that doesn’t. It’s like collection of anything. Most don’t do anything with their collections so I see the same with sneakers. I’m older so I would just tell the younger crowd how important priorities are. Don’t struggle just for a pair.
Help me out - how good is a collection, if not one sees it? My hubby and I both collect, but I'm the only female in my circle that loves sneakers. So of course none of them are impressed or even care what I have. So honest question - how much enjoyment can one get from just looking at shoes that are not worn? Thanks for your time and response in advance!
That last line is so important!!
@@pamelasa Apologies, I’m just seeing this - I totally agree so I’m probably not the best to ask this question. My brother and I were just talking about this the other day.
IMO - it’s not like baseball cards, comics etc. Shoes have sizes, tech put into them for different comfort levels etc … I think they should be worn 100%
I totally understand. I’ve donated and sold some of my collection also. Felt good to see some space but then I’ve replaced them with Colehanns 😂
Now you have a new go to lol
I found myself starting to wear 5 pairs in rotation to make room for up coming pairs I want in the upcoming months and year 😂but your idea sounds better just put them up for sale on marketplace or something 👍
And I am glad to see many of these pairs gone with more space in my closet.
To be inundated with sneaker releases for the upcoming year is a toxic strategy by many of these brands. I've donated 50 pairs of sneakers within the last six months or so, and I don't feel bad at all. Many of those pairs went to persons in need across the world. And, I rarely wore some of them; so, I understand you saying goodbye to a few pairs in your collection. I enjoy your thoughtful intake of the sneaker culture. Keep it going!
Thank you so much and much respect to you for donating to people who could really enjoy them.
Great video, for me everything can always go,but i keep and rock the OG's that dropped back in the day I'm a 90's era basketball type of guy i lived 45 minutes from Chicago so MJ was definitely my favorite Basketball player of all time,so for me there are a handful or so that i would keep for naustalgia purposes but like i said I'm learning to not get to attached to things but appreciate them and knowing that i can finally get them when i couldn't back in the day 💯💥
Thank you and respect to that. Keeping those that hold special meaning and still not getting too attached to most pairs is something I definitely support.
I try to be mindful of why I’m buying the sneakers I buy, and get rid of sneakers I don’t wear with every new purchase ☺️. I don’t really see anything I want for 2025. The only ones I want now are the J14 red toes.
Wishing you luck on the 14s
Great point. I’m about to check my collection and do the same
👊🏽👊🏽
I have plenty of unworn pairs, probably past 30. Some are doubles of original colorways, some are parts of a full set that I wanted to complete, some I just am genuinely worried to mess up. And do I care what anyone else thinks about any of it? No. Pay for my pair and then you can have all the say in what I do with it. That’s how I see it. I eventually get to them all and if not I’m not really worried about it. I’ve slowed down on buying but to me if I have to do a mass sale then I probably just didn’t really want to buy them in the first place
Respect, that's your perspective.
@@TalksWithTJ that’s all it is. Everyone’s is different and like you said it changes with time. Some people must really not have a lot going on to feel a way about what you do with your money and kicks
While I may not give away my shoes, even if I rarely wear them now a days, I've started renting them out to my HS age nephew so he can be fresh
I love that idea too
Great that you’re figuring out what matters to you. Probably getting rid of Jordan’s as that’s what you have the most of?
I have far more Jordans I don't wear enough than other sneakers. And those are easier to sell on platforms or my stories. When they may not be able to be easily moved I'll just give them away to friends or maybe get rid of them locally at a shop just to get a small amount back
Where do you usually sell your shoes? I'm trying to slim down my collection also. I wear my brooks shoes more then any shoe in my collection. Lol
Usually eBay, Poshmark or locally
Im on the same timing I have a few kicks I need to sell, a few to donate and a few to recycle. Do you keep your shoeboxes of the sneakers you have on shelves?
Yes, I keep most of my shoe boxes, many of them on the shelves are stored above the bookcases or higher up in my closet
You are amazing with your will 😮😊
And great mindset big time money gone when you bought them 😮
👊🏽👊🏽
So I've let go of my beloved 11s even let ds pair of Concord go. I'm lookn for a women's shelter to donate some. I'm working on 1s next. Already let go of University Blue 1s. That was tough. I'm okay 😢
You are ok and putting that great energy into the world is a great thing!
The flyknits are my go to gym shoe.
Lightweight and comfortable
I forgot about those flynite Jordan 1.
A lot of people did, a really nice twist on the 1
Gunna one of wun 👍🏆🔥
