The popularity of the Women's WC is getting under the skin of some men. Before the tournament, right wing nongs were saying no one will tune in. The Semi-final drew over 11.15 million viewers (42% of the entire population of Australia). The Matildas eclipsed the most watched male team sport by a factor of two and the chauvinists are seething.

That equalizer against England on it’s own SILENCED all the haters for me. She wasn’t even 100% fit.
World Class athlete let’s all respect that.

Sam Kerr is a World class striker, her first season playing for Chelsea she scored 21 goals in 22 games, won the golden boot, and scored the winning goal in the women's FA Cup final for Chelsea, some of the players in the English side are actually her Chelsea team mates, it doesn't matter what sport you play you need your legs to run, a calf muscle injury is nothing to laugh about, you can't run at full pace or redistribute your weight from one leg to another or quickly change angles, also for those who didn't know Sam can actually kick with both feet and has scored goals both left and right footed, for a nation as small as Australia they excel in many different sports soccer might not be the most popular sport in Australia, but you have Australian players playing in club sides all over the world, women's soccer needs more funding and junior development, with that development comes more opportunities just remember the Australian men's soccer team has not played in a world cup semi final, these trolls and haters are so unaustralian, if your so good and could do better why aren't you playing soccer in a national side representing your country? Just a bunch of drunk armchair critics?

You mention her goals but she is also very unselfish. I remember a game where she gave the assist to Beth England because she thought she was on a hat trick. She was on a brace and she thought that Beth was also on a brace. It was after she gave the assist and Beth scored she realized that she didn't get the hat trick. She said in an interview after.

Even while injured on the sideline she had a massive impact on the rest of the team, her move to give the captains arm band back to Steph Catley during the Denmark game, Kerr is gold !!!

  • @MyPaddy2011

There are people who will always hate. They will always be people from the opposition. Not one Argentinian hates Messi but there are plenty round the world who would love to see the back of him. Americans who once hated Messi, now love him because he is playing for Inter Miami. There are always very vocal people who love to dump on the very best. It is appropriate that Sam be compared to Messi. All things being equal, Sam has probably another five or six years in her at the very top. In my view, she has just started. Already, she has the highest profile of anyone in women's soccer and it's only likely to increase. This is not because she always shows her good side to the camera but because she is an exquisite and electrifying soccer player. Just like Messi, her appearance on the list of performers for any one day, guarantees a full stadium. I would invite the Sam Kerr haters to walk around Chelsea and sprout their bile and venom and expect to escape A&E, probably put there by Sam herself. Though I'm Ozzi and could expect to be biased, the overwhelming support this girl has, is truly inspirational. I have never met Sam, though my impression from all that's been written and observed of her, is that she is fiercely loyal, will put her very life on the line for those she loves, has a vision way beyond any self indulgence, possesses the most off the wall sense of humor, is equally humble and respectful and by her own admission, hates losing more than she loves winning. In a nutshell, this should spell 'pay attention', even to the haters, because Sam Kerr is here and like Messi before her, promises to take us all on the most unforgettable and exhilarating ride of our lives, which none of us should be privileged enough to get for free. She is the essential genie in Aladdin's lamp to both her national team and Chelsea. That elusive rabbit to run with the ball, dart and run with the ball again. We all hold our collective breath as she keeps running. Will she do it? Can she do it? Then of course, she keeps running and hits a belter from 35yards into the back of the net to make the stones of Rome rise up and scream; 'I told you so', the epitaph and prophesy of Johnny Warren back in the 60's, the godfather of Australian soccer. He foretold the advent of the magical Sam Kerr and others just like her. Look out world, because here come the Ozzies. Sam is without doubt a wonderful chameleon, changing her camouflage to suit the occasion. Let all of us just enjoy the ride. As I suspect of her personality itself, it would be an error of monstrous proportions to expect the predictable. What Sam guarantees for all of us though, is far more regular visits to our local GP, a simple heart monitor and that can't be a bad thing.
I want to thank you two ladies for observing what appears to be raising it's ugly head and doing a fine job of hopefully putting it to sleep forever.

Sam's miss in the box is understandable if you played. The ball came up quickly close to her body so the only kick she had was to volley which could only be skied. Had that happen a lot & it's a no win shot.

I agree with you girls and I enjoyed your segment. I’ve followed Sam & other Aussie girls careers since Sam moved to the USA & played in a couple of teams there. She won the golden boot twice. I’ve got to learn of the US players & now the UK & European players who are very talented & super fit as well. Sam deserves our praise & admiration not negative criticism. ⚽️⚽️⚽️🎶🎶🎶🍀

Men trolls don't follow the women's game, whofeel entitled to chime in when it's on a world stage & when some one falls short in their eyes because they REALLY want to see the women's game fail so they can feel they were right love to hate saying "ha ha we told you the women's game was a joke". Anyone who follows the game, like followssssssss, know Sam Kerr's quality. She is a beast. Ignore the misogynist trolls. Like pay attention to who hates on Megan Rapinoe, who is hating on Sam Kerr, who is saying the same old tropes "get back in the kitchen', calling Megan Rapinoe he instead of she thinking their being witty, saying the women's game is bad. 9 out of 10 times it's dudes. Sam Kerr deserves ALL the praise & love, she is a beyond skilled iconic player. For every hater there is a little girl out there somewhere looking up at the stars when they see Sam Kerr play. Keep on tough WOSO players of the world, keep on!

My sister doesn’t know anything about soccer and we live in Australia, she told my family that Sam Kerr is the rudest biggest a hole she has ever met (she attended the teams flight), she did say the whole team was but especially her.
Was really disappointed I couldn’t root for the Matilda’s as they seemed to do really well at the World Cup :(

Slow down. Politicians made a mockery of talking about a public holiday before even we played the semi finals. We don't even have the bronze now! So much for a public holiday! We will not win a world cup with one player, this is a team sport. I remeber a certain individual named Tim C..... Same story. There is no doubt these are great players but talk about tge goal of the tournament... big call... I don't think so. There is only one winner.. The team that lift the cup. Everyone else is a loser, you can't sugarcoat it.

It boils down to jealousy from people that have never kicked a football. Over the years I have seen many footballers both males and females ( I am a female 77years old I played football years ago ) to me Sam Kerr is a natural player she has the gift long may she continue. and The Matildas can hold their heads up high they are all BRILLIANT. I totally agree with you Ladies xxx I am so glad to see how women's football has and will GROW. I Hope I Will Still Be Here To See The Next Women's World Cup🐨🦘🦘
