- TOTAL CHANGE | 180° Gimmick Refreshes!
It’s not uncommon for a wrestler to change their character up from time to time. But usually, this refresh involves making only a few relatively small changes, such as a performer simply turning heel or perhaps a slight change in their look. However, other times wrestlers will go through far more dramatic shifts in character, one which sees them take a full 180 degree turn from what they were doing before. But what are the biggest examples of wrestlers making such a drastic change of character? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at today.

WCW/WWE Cruiserweight Division: Where Are They Now?
The thing is, Jericho didn't just had many gimmicks but also each of his character felt completely different from the other. Normally, You would see some wrestlers get a new gimmick but with a few minor changes: like turning face/heel or changing looks. But with Jericho, He can make a comeback & feel like a whole different person. You gotta admire it.
That’s what I love about Chris Jericho every year he found a way to reinventing his character and change his gimmick.
His current gimmick = the career killer
It’s crazy that JBL wasn’t included in this. One of my all time favorite face to heel characters.
Yeah Bradshaw wouldn't have become champion I loved him and faarooq they were my favorite tag team and I hated jbl so much he played every role perfectly
I would add bradshaw turning into JBL that saved his career. He became a world champion and added more years to his wrestling career if he had changed chances are wwe would have fired him
3 different personas..
Mankind, dude love n my favorite, cactus jack...😅😅.. great videos joe..👍👍💙
Mankind having 3 personas was hilarious😂😂. Dude Love, 🌵 Jack and Mankind. All fantastic
Hadn't he technically four, if you are counting Mick Foley himself as an alter ego?
4 faces of foley
@@lordracer7743he only went by Mick Foley when he was in managerial positions. Whenever he would have a match he would pick one of his personas
@@enigmatictrashnot exactly. 2004 to 2006 he had matches under his own name
And the king hated all three! Lol.
To this day I am absolutely disgusted by what the did to the godfather. They took away his smile (and his hos)! All he wanted to do was have some fun 😖😭
his best move was getting in bed with steph
If they had kept Triple H as the Connecticut Blue Blood in the Attitude Era, he would have never seen the light of day again, honestly. Him changing over to "Triple H" was the best move, in my opinion
His best move was being friends with Shawn Michaels and marrying the bosses daughter.
Unpopular opinion Right to Censor was over and most of those gimmicks that were changed had to change. The fact that they didn’t change over night even better.
It was a great trick to keep Smackdown PG while still existing within the same universe as Raw.
Agree. This video should have included Stevie / Steven Richards as he led it. He was an exceptionally talented mid-carder who suddenly became one the entire roster's best heels because of this.
That RTC theme was instant heat. As soon as it came on everyone booed in the arena, that's a heel doing their job the correct way.
I got a great topic for you! A spin on this video... How about times when 2 wrestlers faced each other as multiple gimmicks? meaning both wrestlers have faced off at least twice when both were in different points of their career (a la, a different gimmick)
Val Venis, Hardcore Holly and Chris Jericho will eventually be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Val Venis? Likely. Holly? Still a small chance. But Jericho? Not happening because he's more satisfied in AEW than in WWE.
Jericho is the only one with a shot
@@HansenSebastianthat's stupid as all hell. Val isn't going in because he's a crackhead, Holly might, but Jericho is a one day, not a never.
Bayley really needed that character change because her Hugger gimmick was getting kinda old and her final turning heel becoming the Role Model is good in my opinion her best character 🔥
I was getting sick of the hugger gimmick when she destroyed, them things you could see kids crying lol.
She coulda kept her gimmick if Vince and the MR audience weren't so cynical.
@@LibraJohnny MR???
@@paulcowlishaw Main Roster.
@LibraJohnny yh makes sense now lol.
Tajiri, The Mountie, Ken Shamrock and Rhino should also be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Who knew Val venis’ gimmick change was Sean morley’s true self?
I'm sure Val would've been happy to tell us at the time, but I question how much longer The Big Valbowski could've kept going. Venis never had much character depth and wouldn't have been a main eventer, then again the RTC turn didn't push him up the card any but it did make a change that kept him employed for a few more years at least long enough to become Chief Morely under Eric Bischoff, while OG Val probably would've been gone before Bischoff arrived.
Feel there needs to be a correction on Bob Holly. He didn't go directly from Sparky Plug to Hardcore, he was Bombastic Bob of the New Midnight Express in-between.
In fact it was being put up against his tag partner Bart Gunn in the Brawl for All and the subsequent hardcore match that kicked started the hardcore gimmick. But he was also a member of the JOB Squad before he fully became Hardcore Holly
Yes, but it was kinda forgettable.
This dude's getting really sloppy with his research lately. That Jericho entry has several factual errors too.
Legendary video and Thank you and Keep it up please 🏆🐐🎯🙏❤️
I have played a lot of SVR11 ... and basically since 2012 I have been winning championship GOLD with my CAW Stardust variants ... and also tag GOLD with and against his brother Golddust and my CAW Dustin variants. DUSTY RHODES is the GRANDFATHER of American WRASSLING. Period. This American Nightmare Cody ... was absolutely historically inevitable. (I don't necessarily even watch wresting anymore, but I do keep up with it.)
I miss Hardcore Holly. I hope he's doing well. I mean, he's not on social media or anything. And finally! You got it right! Crash Holly was Hardcore Holly's kayfabe cousin. And not his nephew.
Jericho vs Michaels Best Rivalry In WWE History
Did we die in Y2K ? No. Thank you, Chris Jericho.
Very pleased to find your CZcams channel
Honorable mentions:
1. Leif Cassidy to Al Snow
2. Pierre Carl Ouellet to PCO
3. Damien Sandow to Damien Mizdow
4. Matt Hardy to "Broken" Matt Hardy
Just Like How I Went From a WWE Midcarder To a TNA Main Eventer In a short amount of Time faster than Ryan Reynolds Playing Deadpool In X-Men Origins Wolverine after Blade Trinity
I honestly had very little interesting in Alexa Bliss before the Bray and Lilly era. I loved that version of Alexa.
Bayley slashing the Bayley Buddies to death is still the most memorable part of her main roster run. Sad but true, if booked properly at the start she could still be a top women's division face today. She could be the Cody Rhodes to Becky Lynch's Roman Reigns, but I guess WWE has Bianca to fill that role now. However, to her credit, she did get to win the Royal Rumble this year and have the 2nd or 3rd best match at Wrestlemania XL.
I thought they changed Godfather into the Goodfather because parents were complaining. My mom was complaining first time she saw the Godfather calling women bad names.
Bearcat keith lee was a wild ride
"Spark Plug" Bob Holly did win one--the WWF Tag Team titles with 1-2-3 Kid. They beat Bam Bam & Tatanka in a Tournament Finals, because Diesel & HBK split up and vacated the belts right before Diesel beat Backlund to become WWF Champ.
How did John Layfield not make the video. He went from a barroom brawler character (APA's Bradshaw) to financial tycoon (JBL).
Legend El Phantasma to Santos Escobar should've been up there
Hunter Hearst Helmsley I thought was a Kool Character. I believe it was Warrior that kill the character by not selling "The Pedigree" at WrestleMania XII. The God Father was Awesome and it wasn't because of his 304's he walk down the asle with. It wasn't because he was a Pimp. The Godfather was Fire because he was Pimping and had his 304's around the ring. Win or Lose the 304's stayed. #LoyaltyToTheGame ps: Finn Baylor "Demon" was Sic he should've stuck with that.
I'm here to request the Chris Jericho story from start to finish
I always liked Marc Mero when he was in WCW the Johnny B Bad character was very entertaining
Really missed the Hugger Bayley
Um where's jbl did I miss something
Bullet Club also has some changing gimmicks for their members when they join the faction the best one for me is Juice Robinson 👆
Sting had the best transformation of all Time from Surfer to Crow
As an elder millennial, the "My Time" "McMahon-Helmsley" HHH era was my bread and butter! I could not get enough of the Game and the princess of the WWE.
RTC was one of the best factions to ever exist
JBL is my favourite, he pulled that off so well
And Sanble had some changes to, she changed her husband from Mero to Brock Lesnar xD
I Love Being Your Biggest Fan Wrestle With Andy Keep Up The Great Work
Well it was stardust and mix in with his brother and legend and brother love.
You didn't even put the Godfather from the new generation to attitude Era 😮😒
Papa Shango was such awesome gimmick. Why was he forced to discontinue that?😡
Husky Harris to Bray Wyatt. Best change ever
I am missing here JBL, when he went from brawler to financial mogul
Wait, you didn't put the undertaker in it?
No sting??
Deadman and American badass
I still think Nikki ASH could have worked better if they had brought back the hurricane to "mentor" her, or at least somehow worked with her... Then maybe have mighty Molly come out and Nikki turn on her, then go back to being a bit crazy.. maybe a 'super villain' or just nikki cross again.
WWE is based in Stamford, Connecticut not New York.
The way I see it is, these wrestlers that have gimmicks that didn't work. Could be a reminder of what not to do. In order to get a wrestler over.
I wish they would’ve kept Riddle & had him lead a new Right To Censor. Imagine him as an anti-drug heel
We all know it, but you can't ignore Hulk Hogan's NWO switch
not sure what you mean with Bayley when shes now Champion again.
How about when the One Man Gang became Akeem.
Best one is bray Wyatts gimmick
Hardcore Holly was such an incredible wrestler. It's a shame he started off with such a lousy gimmick. He was allowed to be himself and became one of the best workhorse veterans. A stiff brawler who had great technical ability as well. One of the most misunderstood people in the business. Everyone I've talked to that worked with him said the same thing. He'll chop the shit out of you but that's because he wants you to give it back. He wants the fans to have an intense show and get their money's worth. And outside the ring he's a chill, sweet guy with a good sense of humor. Holly is like the American version of a Toshiaki Kawada. Stiff and no nonsense, but despite that he's cool irl.
Yokozuna was going to be a Samoan gangster rapper in the attitude era. But he never got the chance to come back.
I never heard the rapper part but yeah, they wanted him to come back but he had to lose weight. The time he was set to return was postponed cause he was still overweight, but then obviously he sadly passed away a few years after
Marc Mero becoming Marvelous was due to his injury, he had to change his in ring.
Hellnah , Stardust is the shit
suit heel jehrico best jehrico.
Yeah The godfarther Regret that move to the goodfarther.
Save the ho's
At the time Hardcore Holly was released by WWE in 2008, of the then entire roster, only Triple H and The Undertaker were in WWE longer than he was. That says alot about how good he was. He was always known as consumate professional both in and out of the ring and someone on whom WWE could totally rely on whenever they needed him.

7:43 the worst ideal I never seen in my life (with the maximum male models) and what that lead to ? The worst MITB Winner ever and the Worst Money in the bank cash in ever in my eyes.
Idea*** my first gf used to say ideal instead of idea and drive me nuts
Bayley was good as a heel but when she's with Sasha she comes off as cringe
Cody's Stardust was not an original gimmick. Stardust was the gimmick his father Dusty used in the 80s in AWA, albeit for alot shorter time than Cody did.
Hardcore bleaching his hair blonde different exactly do wonders for his career but kinda did. His image is so much better when he cut his hair and dyed it. I never liked or took Bailey seriously until she went full blown heel. The whole “hugging” gimmick was cringe! I stereotyped Alexa as another blonde bombshell type superstar and that’s exactly what her gimmick was until the fiend abducted her and made her into something cool, enchanting and believable. I can’t wait for her to return. No matter what she will always be synonymous with the fiend.
No John cena or the rock. They both were about to get fired before they had their game changing gimmick changes
What about Too Cool?
Val Venus? Are you for real? Venus? Where did you hear that?
Val Venis always had a short shelf
Life. Also. he’s a horrible human being.
