The Aiguille du Midi is a 3842m peak in the Mont Blanc massif of the French Alps. This is the closest you can get to the summit of Mont-Blanc without hiking or climbing.
The Aiguille du Midi is the highest mountain peak served by an aerial lift system. The name translates literally to "Needle of the Mid-day". The mountain lies to the southeast of Chamonix and when viewed from in front of the church it indicates that it is noon when the sun passes over its summit.

Many years ago I hiked (with equipment - crampons, ice-axe & 11mm rope) up to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi from the Montenvers Station & stayed en route at the Refuge Requin. Epic Hike up the Vallee Blanche & then down from the Aiguille by Teleferique to the Plan des Aiguilles before another hike to the Refuge des Grand Mulets & a climb up Mt Blanc itself! I love the views from the Aiguille du Midi which are amongst the best the European Alps & definitely superior to the lower Jungfraujoch!
Hi Joe, I am severely disabled since a short time, had to give up my job in 2021 and can not travel anymore. And to see such wonderful mountains and platforms that I will hardly visit anymore is very moving to me. Thanks for these impressions. I wish I had been there in earlier times when I was still healthy.

I've taken this visit yesterday. If you do not mind being jammed packed into a cable car like sardines you will love the ride up to the top - and again back down. My only complaint: the extreme excessive overcrowding! I have just gotten over a nasty illness (2 weeks earlier) had made this cable car ride unnerving.

You have absolutely right, the cable car is absolutely crowded, but at least the landscape is spectacular from up there. Nothing else was bother me too, just the crowdedness.
Sometimes we have to compromise to get to the best places we want to visit, this cable car is one of them. Except for this, I'm pretty sure you enjoyed the rest.

We have been there on August 24 this year. Absolutely breathtaking. We also took the gondola to Pointe Helbronner, that's even more beautiful. Did you do that one as well?
I was at end of June, but I'm pretty sure whenever you go there, the view is always spectacular. Yes, I went with the gondola to Pointe Helbrunner, and I've done a video from that too.

I'm pretty sure, it will be wonderful the view in May too.
I was at the end of June, so I think you will find more snow at that time when you plan to go. Don't forget something, the timetable for cable cars is shorter in early spring.

Hai ragione, le passerelle non sono così buone perché troppo ripide, perché uno come me fa abbastanza paura. Ho paura dello sballo e ho provato a scendere da Plan de l'Aiguille a Chamonix, ma mi sono spaventato e sono dovuto tornare alla stazione.
Sono sempre geloso di quelle persone che non hanno paura dell'alta quota, quindi è meglio che camminino su e giù per ripidi sentieri di montagna.
